    Solutions mixtures of two or more substances evenly distributed throughout


    a single phase.

    Components of a Solution
    The components of a solution may be solid, liquid, or gas. However,
    the resulting phase of the solution normally depends on the phase
    of the solvent.
    Binary Solution A solution consisting of two (2) components

    Solvent The component which is present in large quantity and


    serves as the dissolving medium

    Solute The component which is present in small quantity

    UnSaturated Contains less solute than the solvent’s capacity to


    dissolve, meaning that the solution can still dissolve more
    solute

    Saturated Contains the maximum amount of solute that the solvent


    can dissolve at a certain temperature

    Supersaturated Contains more dissolved solute than is present in a


    saturated solution (crystallization)
