Note: Adjustment procedures must be performed before a test and adjustment of any
line relief valve pressure setting is attempted. The main relief valve must be temporarily
set before any line relief valve pressure setting is adjusted. Refer to Temporary Setting
of the Main Relief Valve in Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Main) - Test and
Adjust".
Test
1. Position the machine on level ground.
2. Stop the engine.
3. Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic
System Pressure - Release".

5. Connect a 60000 kPa (8700 psi) pressure gauge to pressure tap (2) .
6. Connect a 60000 kPa (8700 psi) pressure gauge to pressure tap (3).
c. Input the service code "0E 32 3A". To increase the flashing character,
push the switch for boom priority mode (B). To decrease the flashing
character, push the switch for swing priority mode (C). To move the
flashing character to the right, push the switch for fine control mode (D).
To move the flashing character to the left, push the switch for user mode
(E) .
d. Once the service code is entered into the controller display (A), depress
the following three switches on the operator monitor panel at the same
time: switch for fine control (D), switch for user mode (E) and travel
alarm cancel switch (G). Hold all three switches down for at least three
seconds.
Note: If more than ten seconds pass between pushing the switches, the
controller display (1) will revert to the operation mode.
f. On the operator monitor panel, enter a fixed power shift pressure of 2950
kPa (430 psi) on the controller display (A). Adjust controller display (A)
in order to attain a power shift pressure of 2950 kPa (430 psi) on the
pressure gauge at pressure tap (1) .
g. Move the flashing character to the far left. Increase the "1" to a "6".
h. Move the flashing character to the right and increase the "0" to a "6".
i. The last four characters on the controller display (A) will begin flashing.
These characters represent the power shift pressure (kPa). Adjust the last
four characters to "2950". To increase the power shift pressure 10 kPa
(1.5 psi), push the switch for boom priority mode (B). To decrease the
power shift pressure 10 kPa (1.5 psi), push the switch for swing priority
mode (C). To increase the power shift pressure 200 kPa (29 psi), push the

same time. To decrease the power shift pressure 200 kPa (29 psi), push
the switch for swing priority mode (C) and power mode switch (F) at the
same time.
Note: Always use the pressure gauge that is connected to pressure tap (1)
to monitor the actual power shift pressure.
9. Place the machine controls at the following settings: Power Mode OFF, engine
speed dial "10" and AEC switch OFF.
Note: The engine will not reach maximum no-load speed until the hydraulic
tank pressure has reached the operating level.
10. Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° ± 5°C (131° ± 9°F).

Main control valve (front view)
The following line relief valves are located on top of the main control valve: boom
cylinder head end, bucket cylinder head end and stick cylinder rod end.
The following line relief valves are located on the bottom of the main control valve:
boom cylinder rod end, bucket cylinder rod end and stick cylinder head end.
Note: Return main relief valve pressure to the specification after testing and adjusting
any line relief valve. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Specifications" for the main relief
valve pressure setting.
Note: In order to cancel Service Mode, depress the following three buttons on the operator
monitor panel at the same time: button for fine control (4), button for user mode (5) and travel
alarm cancel switch (6). Hold all three buttons down for at least three seconds. If the engine
switch key is placed in the OFF position for at least 75 ± 15 seconds, Service Mode will be
cancelled.

Note: If an appropriate location is not available to fully extend the boom cylinders,
exchange the functions of the boom line relief valves. Remove the line relief valve for
the boom cylinder head end and the line relief valve for the boom cylinder rod end from
the main control valve. Exchange the location in the main relief valve of the line relief
valves. Adjust the pressure of the boom line relief valve that is now attached in the head
end. After completion of line relief valve adjustment, return the respective line relief
valves to the original locations.

Note: This machine is equipped with two swing motors. The line relief valve pressure
setting for the right swing motor is set higher than the line relief valve pressure setting
for the left swing motor. This prevents damage to the internal components of the swing
drive. In order to ensure the correct line relief valve pressure setting for each swing
motor, a temporary setting of the relief valves on the left swing motor is necessary.
Note: The main relief valve must be temporarily set before swing relief valves can be
adjusted. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Specifications".
Preparation
1. Position the machine on level ground.
3. Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic
System Pressure - Release".
