Coast Guard Letter 1st Leg 2019
The Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF) is the national governing body for dragon
boat sport in the Philippines as recognized by the International Dragon Boat Federation,
the Asian Dragon Boat Federation and the South East Asian Traditional Boat Association.
We have been bringing honor to the Philippines since its founding in 2003 and years
before that when it was still called the Amateur Rowing Association of the Philippines.
In partnership with the Municipal Government of Balete, Batangas, the PDBF will hold the
1st Leg of the 2019 Philippine Dragon Boat Regatta at the Taal Lake, Balete Municipal Hall
complex, Balete, Batangas on 31 March 2019, from 6AM to 4PM. This is the first of four legs
of dragon boat races used to determine the national rankings of dragon boat teams in
the country, which in turn is used to determine who will be sent in international dragon
boat racing championships. Each leg is participated by about 600 to 700 athletes and
their supporters.
It is in this light that we are earnestly requesting for the assistance of Philippine Coast
Guard – Southern Tagalog for the following:
Ensure safety of the participants during water activities;
Give advice on water conditions and the aptness of the water activities in relation
thereto; and
Conduct rescue operations in case of worst contingencies (boat capsizing,
people falling off the boat, etc.).
Another partner, Lima Hotel, will provide two (2) speed boats for the event where Coast
Guard personnel may board for closer monitoring of water activities.
