G210 InviCell CO2/O2 Incubator

This installation guide is to assist in installing and verifying the G210 InviCell CO2/O2 Incubator.

In order to avoid unintended wrong handling, please read the installation guidelines carefully and use it in
conjunction with the other manuals delivered.

Please read every procedure completely through before starting the procedure. Any exceptions may result in errors,
due to not properly and safely completed procedures.

Operation Environment
 The G210 InviCell CO2/O2 Incubator is intended to be used at room temperature, in a clean room
environment, at medical clinics and hospital laboratories under normal working conditions.
 The G210 InviCell should be placed on a level secured surface, away from heaters, coolers, air conditioning
outlets, mists splash and direct sunlight.

 To maintain a device set point between 35-40° C the ambient temperature should be between 20-30° C.

 Do not use the Incubator at ambient temperature exceeding 30° C. Ambient temperature above 30° C may
compromise the incubation process.

Before installation
1. Upon arrival, inspect the Shock watch and TIP N Tell on the outside of the shipping box. The Shock watch
and the TIP N Tell will indicate if the shipping box has been mishandled or tilted. If the Shock watch and/or
TIP N Tell have been triggered during, transport or handling please contact, K-Systems service department.
(see Service note 130902 )

2. Check content and ensure that packing list and contents correspond.

3. Check that the supplied cable and plug correspond to the available electrical power outlet.

4. Prior to initial operation and in order to maintain operational safety and correct functionality please ensure
that the incubator is installed at a location meeting the operation environment. Please read the user manual
on enclosed USB for further explanation.

Installation of K-720 Filter

To get access to the filter compartment, pull the safety lock handle placed on the bottom left side, towards the front,
and lift the upper part of the G210.

Safety lock handle

1. Lift the locking bracket up.

2. Insert the K-720 filter in the left side connector. Assure the filter is installed according to the flow direction
indicated on the filter.

Important: Insert filter with the filter label facing up.

5 | 16
Installation and verification guide

3. Push the K-720 filter capsule to the right and fit the filter in the connector at the right. Assure the filter is fitted
tight in the right-side connector.

If the filter is not placed correctly, it can cause an excessive gas consumption.

4. Lock the locking bracket

5. Close down the upper part of G210

Gas connection:
Use only pure CO2 and pure N2 (optional) with classification as Medical Gas grade. Use of other gasses could result in
serious injury, depending on the gas connected. Assure that the gas supply pressures are max 1.0 bar and not below
0.5 bar.

1. Attach the gas inline filters on the gas supply before the lines are connected to the G210.

2. Attach the gas supply lines to the appropriate gas connectors on the back of the G210.

Set points menu

Set Temperature and gas set points in the “set point” menu.

Allow the G210 to reach set points and achieve stable temperature and gas concentration levels. Assure the G210
has been stable for at least 15 min, before beginning the calibration procedure.

It is recommended to perform the gas calibration first and then proceed with the temperature calibration.

Gas Calibration
It is VERY important that the G210 is not emptied for gas during the calibrations procedure. To do so will cause very
unstable gas levels and gas flow, and will result in a considerable time before the gas concentration is recovered and
becomes reliable and stable again.

To ensure the G210 is not emptied for gas during the gas sampling please follow the below instructions.

In general, it is NOT recommended to collect a volume larger than 0.1 L from either mixing chamber or chambers.

Always check gas concentration in set point menu during sampling. If gas concentration differs, more than 0.1% from
set point, allow the G210 to stabilize at gas concentration set point before next gas sampling.

The gas sample port is located behind the Preparation Chamber. The Gas sample port is connected directly to the
gas-mixing chamber. For gas sample collecting, use the coupling connected to a gas sampling analyser.

A Silicone Plug is placed in the lid of each chamber. For collecting a gas sample, penetrate the Lid plug with a needle.
Do not use needles larger than 0.5 x 25 mm. The angle for penetration should be vertical (+/-10 deg.) and no
horizontal movements should be made. The chamber Lid plug should be replaced when penetrated 5 times.

To ensure highly accurate and reliable gas measurements, please use a high quality calibrated gas analyser.

Gas Calibration Procedure using G100/G110 CO2 and O2 Gas Analyser

The described gas calibration procedure assume the use of G100/G110 CO2 and O2 Gas Analyser, using recirculation
of gas into the gas flow during sampling.

If the gas recycling procedure is not followed, please allow the Incubator to stabilize for 3 min after collecting a
sample.

1. Condition and purge your G100/G110. See Gas Analyser manual.

2. Remove the protection cap from the sample port.
3. Attach a suitable length of tubing on the enclosed coupling. Connect tubing to the G100/G110 input.

4. Attach a needle to a suitable length of tubing, and connect to the G100/G110 outlet.

9 | 16
Installation and verification guide

5. Connect the tubing with coupling from G110 inlet to the sample port and place the needle in a chamber 3, by
penetrating a silicone plug in a chamber lid. The sampled gas will be recycled into the chamber.

Coupling connected to Inlet

6. To purge the gas analyser with gas mixture to obtain a faster stable reading, first collect a gas sample from
the sample port by start the pump, measure for no more than 30 seconds, and then stop the pump.
7. Start the pump and collect a sample for no longer than 50 seconds. Read the gas concentrations.
8. Adjust gas set points by pressing the arrows until it correspond with the reading on the external gas analyser.

9. Wait until the gas concentrations on the G210 has reached the required levels and is stable.
10. Repeat steps in point 7 to 9 until you have reached the required gas concentration.

Verification of gas concentration in chambers:

Exchange the position of the inlet and outlet placement of tubing’s of the gas analyser, by connecting the tube with
coupling to output and tubing with needle to inlet of the gas analyser.

Needle connected to Inlet

Coupling connected to out put

In this way, the sampled gas will be reentered in the gas flow and sampling can be performed instantly in next
chambers. If gas is not recirculated, wait 3 minutes between sampling.

Temperature Calibration
The temperature calibration has to be performed with a calibrated temperature sensor into each chamber according
to the below procedure. To assure a stabile temperature and to prevent ambient air from entering the chamber, it is
important to use a temperature sensor with a flat cable enabling the lid to be closed during calibration.

K-Systems recommends the T100 Precision Thermometer together with the Solid Temperature Sensor for
temperature calibration of G210.

If the calibration is not performed with the K-Systems solid temperature sensor, K-Systems cannot guarantee correct
calibration of the device.

Sensor and Thermometer has to be calibrated as a unit. Therefore, the thermometer and sensor has to be sent to K-
Systems or a local accredit able calibration service for calibration. Processing time approximately 3 weeks.

Temperature calibration procedure

1. Open the lid and place the calibrated temperature sensor at the bottom of the chamber.

2. If the chamber is used with a dish insert - place the sensor on the preheated dish insert.

3. Close the lid.

4. Read the temperature when the temperature on the external thermometers reading is stable on the second
decimal.

5. Adjust the calibration set point by pressing the icon representing the requested chamber. Adjust
temperature calibration zone set point, by pressing the arrows, until the temperature calibration zone set
point correspond to the temperature reading.

6. Wait until the temperature shown on the current chamber has reached the set point.
7. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until the required temperature is reached in the actual chamber.
8. Repeat steps 1 to 7 for all chambers.
