All Bird products can be serviced and calibrated by the Bird Service
Center (BSC). Bird Service Centers and Service Partners are located World
Wide providing a full range of service and support for your Bird Products.
The TTA system consists of two components: the Tower-Top Amplifier, mounted close to the antenna, and a Receiver
Multicoupler base unit. The Tower-Top Amplifier is housed in a compact light-weight, weather resistant enclosure. All the
internal components are protected from lightning by surge arresters on all ports.
Mission critical models have two independent LNA’s, each powered by separate bias circuits, which provides component
redundancy as well as superior intermodulation (IM) performance. These models have Microprocessor-controlled fault
detection circuitry providing continuous monitoring and auto switching between the quad-LNA’s when necessary.
Using AISG compliant telemetry, the TTA sends operational status information to the base unit. Depending on the model of
the base unit, the systems status will be displayed using LED’s or an LCD display for local viewing and SNMP (v3.0) and/or a
form C contact alarm switch for remote alarm management. The system is designed for quick and simple installation.
FEATURES
} Quadrature-coupled low noise amplifier (LNA) improves reliability and receive sensitivity.
} Net gain is fully configurable by an Electronic Attenuator.
} PolyPhaserTM impulse suppressors are used to protect the TTA from lightning damage.
} High performance filtering is split between the tower top unit and the base control unit to reduce the size of the tower top unit and maintain exceptional filtering.
} Compact, light weight, weather-resistant enclosure reduces wind loading, weight and space on the tower.
} TTA unit has an Operating Temperature Range of -30°C to 60°C while the Multicoupler Decks have an operating range of -0°C to 50°C.
} MCU and CMU models are only 1 RU leaving plenty of space for other components in the rack.
} Both AC and DC Power Options are available to provide power flexibility
} Industry Standard AISG/EIA-485 Data Communications are used between the TTA and the Base Unit.
} An Intuitive Web Browser User interface is available for select models to make configuring and monitoring simple
} Multifunction LCD readout with multicolored LEDs are available for local Front Panel At-A-Glance System Status viewing.
} An Ethernet Connector is available on select models that offer SNMP V3.0 Alarm Annunciation.
} Many models offer a test port to allow reliable measurement of receive sensitivity and desensitization from ground level.
APPLICATIONS
} Any application where tower feed line loss has the potential to impact receiver sensitivity.

Compact Receiver Multicouplers
space saving package. The high performance LNA’s exhibit a very low noise figure while
providing a (100% measured) 3rd order output intercept point in excess of +40dBm. The
multicouplers are designed with a minimum excess gain of 10 dB which gives maximum
sensitivity in rural applications. All units are designed for ease of expansion, with no changes to
system gain in most cases. Three models cover the most popular applications from 118-901 MHz.

Receiver Multicoupler Expansion Kit
Receive Multicouplers are easily expanded by connecting to one of these Multicoupler Expansion Kits. The Kits are designed to be connected to the expansion port output
on the back of the Receive Multicoupler base unit. With this option installed the total number of system receivers can be increased by the number of ports on the expansion
deck. The expansion decks are designed to keep the system gain constant for all receivers. All necessary cables are included in each kit.

Amplifier Deck Assembly
Amplifier Deck Assemblies consist of high quality low noise amplifiers with built in programmable attenuation. The product family supports VHF and UHF
Amplifier Deck Assembly
frequencies. Both frequency bands have models with 1 to 4 amplifiers available. All this capability is supported from a 1RU standard 19” deck. This product is
ideal for sites that have frequency plans with small guard bands, that favor a channelized receiver design.

Preamplifier Kit
Bird Technologies still supports its first generation of Receiver Multicoupler products with system expansion kits. These models employ single and dual stage
preamplifiers with two and four channel power dividers in pyramid interconnection systems allowing us to support expansion from four to sixty-four channel
capacity in four-channel increments.

PRESELECTORS/POST FILTERS
TX RX has designed application-specific multi-cavity filter products for use in limiting the bandwidth in front of a
multiple-receiver system (Preselector) or after a multiple-transmitter system (Post Selector). Size and complexity
range from a model built from three helically-loaded 1.3-inch rectangular resonators for relatively low-selectivity
receive-only applications, where 2 dB of loss can be tolerated, to four 6.625-inch cavities that can handle 400 watts
with high selectivity and loss of 1 dB or less. The most popular models are built from four 4-inch cavities, exhibit
medium to high selectivity, depending upon the center frequency, and can handle 125 watts of power with 1.2 to
1.8 dB of loss.
The 4 and 6-inch cavity models can be ordered with pass bandwidths ranging from 0.5 to 2 MHz. The typical curves
show how different bandwidths affect isolation and insertion loss. Generally, a narrower bandwidth results in a higher
insertion loss and selectivity than a wider bandwidth .
