MEANING OF CADASTRAL SURVEY

❖ Basically a property boundary survey

❖ Primarily carried out for legal purposes so as to


accurately establish land ownership boundaries and
usage

❖ It shows the boundaries of properties between


neighbours and may include items such as

CLOSED TRAVERSE
• A closed traverse originates and
terminates at points of known positions.
When closed traverse originates and
terminates at the same point, it is called
the closed-loop traverse
• A survey is performed on a closed
traverse as shown in the figure below.
The course of the traverse is alphabetical
(A-B-C-D-E-F-A). For the closed traverse
determine the following :

East”. The bearings of all other courses
(lines) of the traverse.
OPEN TRAVERSE
• An open traverse originates at a point of known position
and terminates at a point of unknown position.
