2010 Blowfish Wine List
Champagne - name derived from the Latin term campania - originally used to describe the rolling countryside just north of
Rome. Champagne, with its two towns Reims and Eperney, was the first region to make sparkling wine in any quantity and
historically the name Champagne became synonymous with the finest. Wine made in this style in South Africa is termed
‘Méthode Cap Classique’

A blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier. This fruity wine rewards with tropical aromas
and flavours of banana, litchi and mango. On the palate, a tinge of citrus adds to the lingering, dry
finish.

A blend of Viognier and Grenache Blanc that creates the spicy floral notes followed by delicate
perfumed flavour which reveals from the fermentation of the Grenache Blanc.
Sauvignon B lanc
The name Sauvignon comes from the French sauvage, meaning wild. It is a fitting name for a vine, which left to its own
devices, would grow with riotous abandon. Riotous can also describe Sauvignon blanc flavours, which include straw, hay,
grass and meadow. Sauvignon Blanc is taut, lithe and herbal with a keen stiletto of acidity that vibrates through the centre of
the vine.

Chardonnay
For several decades, Chardonnay has been one of the most successful wines in the world. The wine has appealing big
flavours – vanilla, butter, butterscotch, buttered toast, custard, green apple, tropical fruit, lemon and pineapple and is
matched with equally effusive textures such as creamy, lush and full-boded.

Displaying pale lime green colours with gorgeous citrus fruit aromas, the wine has strong, but well-
balanced acidity. Naturally fruity, crisp and fresh with an enjoyable aftertaste that shows the

An awesome blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon respectively which is a
classically styled blend with layers of red and black fruit and a perfumed spiciness. A medium-
bodied wine with a good tannin structure and superb balance.
Cabernet Sa uvignon
This is the most well known black grape variety in the world. The grapes are high in tannins, so Cabernet Sauvignon wines
age well (especially if barrel matured), but need time to mature. At best, the wines are rich in colour, aroma and depth, and
in time have a long lasting flavour. Benchmark examples of this variety have plenty of great aromas such as cassis,
blackcurrant, liquorice, leather, small forest berries and cedar.

flavours of mulberries, milk chocolate and fruitcake that becomes smoother and creamier towards

The wine has a deep and intense ruby red colour. The nose shows ripe red berries, prunes and black
currents; complemented by sweet oak and black pepper undertones. The smooth, ripe, round
tannins make this wine easy to drink while retaining a full body. The balanced acid creates a firm

Distinctive aromas include scents from several broad categories: mint, eucalyptus, chocolate, coffee, violets, smoked meats,
cinnamon and nutty nougat with almonds. Merlot is typically rich on the palate – fleshy and velvety, berry fruit, chocolate
and mint usually between medium-bodied and full-bodied.

Deep ruby colour with smoky, pepper and wild herbs follow on the nose. Shiraz has typical red berry, plum, pepper and
some sweetness on the palate. Rustic farmyard flavours can be evident with fudge and candyfloss among the words
sometimes used to describe certain styles.
