    Open house event at Western Carolina University for prospective students
    CULLOWHEE, NC- August 29, 2018. Western Carolina University Office of Admissions will
    be holding a campus wide open house event on Saturday, October 27th, 2018 from 8:30 am to
    4:00pm.
    The agenda for open house is as follows:
    8:30am – 10:00am Information fair held in the Liston B. Ramsey Regional Activity
    Center. Students will be able to talk to different departments from all over campus.
    10:00am- 10:30am Welcome session by Sam Miller, PhD, Vice Chancellor of Student
    Affairs as well as Phil Cauley, Director of Student Recruitment and Retention.
    10:45am -11:45am Academic Sessions where guest will be able to speak to professors in
    their intended majors.
    12:00pm- 4:00pm Information sessions on financial aid, the honors college, and how to
    pay for college, as well as tours of residential halls will be available.
    Western Carolina University has been organizing open house events since the 1980’s. About 90
    different departments are represented at the open house events. About 60 of those departments
    are academic, with the most requested departments being Nursing, Education, Athletic Training,
    and Forensic Sciences. “At WCU, the Open House events are the ultimate showcase of what our
    institution has to offer for students that are trying to make decisions about their college career.
    Students can see everything from the different residence halls to the labs and classrooms used in
    their specific major. When a family attends an Open House event, our goal is that they have all
    their questions answered by the time they leave campus” said Patrick Frazier, Associate Director
    of Undergraduate Admissions Marketing & Recruitment.
    Lunch vouchers will be available for the registered students and all dining facilities will be open
    to guest. Students who cannot attend the open house events or wish to have a more detailed tour
    of campus can go on one of the weekly tours. Weekly tours are held Monday through Friday at
    10:00 am and 2:00pm. Preregistration for Open House and more information is available at
    openhouse.wcu.edu or by calling the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 828-227-7317.
