Items highlighted in (Bold Italic) are critical items identified in risk assessment AMO 29 for the
operation and should be given priority while using the checklist. If the operation involves
deviation from normal conditions then a new risk assessment has to be carried out and
recorded.

4 Steering tested in both follow up and non follow up modes.
5 Rudder angle indicator & tiller arm co-relation correct (P+S).
6 Telephone communication between bridge, steering gear & Engine
room.
7 Check of gyro repeater comparison with bridge.
8 Check oil level for pumps & Telemotor system and check system for
leaks.
9 Check filter condition indicator and clean filter if required.
10 Greasing system satisfactory for pallister bearing & tiller arm.
11 Current drawn by each motor individually.
12 Power failure alarm check for both units.
13 Gyro failure alarm.
14 Testing logged in ER log book.
15 Emergency steering. Last done on __________. (Guidance: every 3
months)
16 Steering room heaters on if required & thermostat correctly set.
17 Ensure that access to steering gear room from deck is shut.
18 Check Steering gear room bilges and associated spaces.
