Activity 20
• The Wheeler model of curriculum development (1967), or cyclic model, asserts that curriculum should
be a continuous cycle which is responsive to changes in the education sector and makes appropriate
adjustments to account for these changes.
2. Identify the possible strengths and weaknesses of each model when applied to the Philippine
context.
• The strengths of cyclical models are; logical sequencial structure, situational analysis as a starting
point, model is flexible and less rigid, and more relevant. The weaknesses of this model are; logical and
sequencial nature and a fundamental problem in utilizing such models is the amount of time required to
undertake and effective situational analysis.
