    How tourism Industry can be revived , Suggest measures.
    By infecting more than 2 million people and claiming over
    135,000 lives across the globe so far, the COVID-19 pandemic has
    hit the whole world hard. With more than one-third of the global
    population being put under restrictions of one kind or the other,
    the fact that the world is staring at an economic recession is a no-
    brainer. Recently, Moody's—a global rating and research agency
    —slashed India’s GDP growth forecast sharply from 5.3 per cent
    to 2.5 per cent for the year 2020 and further cuts are likely.
    Foreign tourism and travel industry is clearly one of the worst-hit
    sectors and the ban on international flights has all but shut down
    this segment entirely

    Suggestions
    Cancel or postpone the proposed TCS on foreign travel that was
    introduced in the Finance Bill, 2020 
    Union Budget 2020 proposed the introduction of a new kind of
    tax collection at source (TCS) that will be applicable on all
    remittances exceeding INR 7 lakh a year, under the RBI’s
    liberalised remittance scheme. While the government has
    decreased the rate of TCS for education-related remittances to 0.5
    per cent, from the earlier proposed 5 per cent and has deferred
    the TCS on foreign travel from April to June, they should either
    consider cancelling or postponing the TCS on the foreign travel
    too for a longer period. Since the rupee has also depreciated, the
    TCS will be an additional burden on customers. 

    One-year GST Relief


    A Goods and Services Tax (GST) relief should be made available
    for the new financial year 2020-21 for the travel sector.

    Exclusive Fund Allocation for the Tourism Sector


    The government must come out with an adequate bailout package to
    revive the travel and tourism industry. The proceeds of this bailout
    should be utilized to save jobs and salaries of the people employed in
    the Industry and help pay for fixed costs borne by companies in the
    travel space.

    Interest-free Credit Facilities for the Travel Sector


    The government authorities must ensure that there is adequate
    availability of collateral-free and interest-free credit for organizations
    in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. 

    Some marketing and communication majors that every


    domestic tourism industry should take after the pandemic
    crisis COVID-19 is over :-
    Get the prime message out – We are open for business; tourists
    are welcome and wanted;
    Setting out the facts: – Our destinations/hotel/tour/
    attraction/flights are operating; outline restrictions and
    limitations;
    Complementary alliances with principals. -Joint arrangements
    with hoteliers, resorts, restaurants, attractions, land tours, and
    air links; value-added arrangements between complementing
    principals;
    Restoring confidence in source markets. – travel agents and
    travel writers’ familiarization trips – choose opinion leaders;
    Protecting profitability during marketing recovery: – offer
    incentives which will enable the business to sustain profitability
    – value add rather than discount;
    Re-image the business and the destination – re-theme
    advertising and promotion;
    Incentives which attract tourists – value-added products;
    Publicize the positives – positive news of resurgence of tourist
    arrivals, rebuilding and enhancements of infrastructure;
    Reporting and monitoring progress – publicize the changes and
    enhancements made.
