I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
A. get familiar with technical terms used in research (EN10V-IVd-30); and
B. compose a research report on a relevant social issue (EN10SS-IVe-2.3), specifically to:
1. classify direct and reported speeches through a graphic organizer;
2. modify direct speech statements into reported speech statements through an
interactive game; and
3. display the proper way of modifying direct speech statements to reported speech
statements.
III. Procedures
A. Preparation
1. Prayer

3. Attendance
4. Setting of Classroom Standards
5. Motivation
a. The teacher will play a short video about the topic.
B. Presentation
1. The teacher will ask questions about the video.
2. The teacher will present the topic along with the objectives.
C. Discussion
1. The teacher will divide the class into 4 groups.
2. The teacher will play another video about Direct and Indirect Speech. The students will
be instructed to take down notes for their notes will be utilized in their activity as a
group. After that, they will be given activity cards that contains the activity. As a
group, they will classify direct speech and reported speech through a graphic organizer.
E. Application
1. The students will remain in their groups. The teacher will flash statements on the screen
and they will change it to direct speech or reported speech, depending on the statement
flashed.
IV. Evaluation
Change the statement into direct speech or reported speech.
1. She said, “I am watching Korean movies”.
2. James said, “I had taken English lessons before”.
3. She said that she could swim as fast as her brother can.
4. She said that she liked ice cream.
5. “I love you,” Anthony said to her.
V. Assignment
Research one telephone conversation. Check the conversation if it has direct speech and
reported speech. Present it to the class tomorrow.
