standards shall be the latest revisions of those in force at commencement of EPC Contract. It shall be
the Vendor’s responsibility to acquire possession of all required codes and standards referenced in
this specification.
All piping components, valves, fabrication and design shall, as a minimum, meet the requirements of
the latest edition of the codes and standards unless stated otherwise and as modified by this
specification.
In the event of conflict between any of the codes and standards, requirements of statutory authorities
or with the requirements of this specification, the most stringent requirements shall take precedence
and shall be referred to the purchaser for clarification before proceeding with the manufacture of the
commodity.

4.0 DEFINITIONS
Piping component Any piping items contained in this document
Piping Class A unique alpha numeric code for a range of piping
components to meet a specified process condition
NB Nominal bore of a component
5.1 All material piping classes have pipe wall thickness schedules governed by ASME B16.5
pressure limits unless noted otherwise. However, in some larger sizes at higher ratings some
pressure limits have been determined by pre-selecting available schedules and wall thickness.
This is generally equivalent to “calculate wall” which is normally based upon line design
conditions and is made for economical design.
½” to 1½ = 0.030”
2” to 4” = 0.050”
6” to 8” = 0.060”
10” to 12” = 0.090”
14” to 24” = 0.125”
