TruckCom is a communications program that communicates with
trucks equipped with CAN (Controller Area Network).
The software has the following functions:
• Downloads the truck's control programs.
• Check and adjustment of operator/truck parameters and hour
meters.
• Possibility to save the truck parameters (incl, hour meter values) as
a file.
• Checks diagnostic data for various digital inputs/outputs as well as
analogue data, including voltage/current values and certain
temperatures.
The program can be run in Windows®XP Service Pack 2, Windows®
2000 Service Pack 4, Windows® Vista and in the PDA.
The system requires that NET Framework 2.0 SP 1 or later has been
installed.
Note!
There may be some differences in the interface, e.g. the position of
certain buttons, between the PC and PDA versions.
3 - Connection
3.1 Connection to PC
A CAN interface, such as CPC-PP, CPS-USB, or a series interface is
required for connection to the truck.
Note!
The serial interface does not function under Windows Vista!
CPC-PP or CPS-USB
1. Connect CPC-PP to the PC via the printer port or connect CPS-
USB to the PC using the accompanying USB cable.
2. Connect a PC-CAN cable between the CAN-interface and the
truck’s CAN-terminal.
Series interface
You can also use a series interface to connect the PC to the truck. It
must be connected to the computer’s Com Port 1. Then connect the
series interface with the PC-CAN cable.

8 - Using TruckCom
When you start the software, the fields in the screen are empty and you
must select Connect to enter the truck’s software.
When you click Connect, TruckCom indicates the different connection
steps in a text line.
The truck’s different units are called nodes. All nodes are identified
when the truck’s software configuration files are read.
The on-screen fields are updated once a connection with the truck has
been established. The truck’s status is also shown then.
All detected nodes are shown in the node list and are indicated by OK/
Not OK. Nodes and available TruckCom functions may look different
depending on which truck has been connected.
Note!
You must know how the truck is configured. The node list also lists
possible option nodes. These nodes may be present in the truck. If,
for example, SEU is present in the truck and is functioning, the node
should be detected as OK. SEUopt/Not OK either means that SEU is
not present in the truck or that the node is present but is not OK.
If the article number of the software package is blue, this means that
new package information is introduced.
Click on the article number for information about changes to the
program from the earlier version.
Note!
If another package than that in the truck is opened, the configuration
of this package will be shown and used. This may mean that the
information displayed does not correspond exactly with the truck's
configuration, as the various software packages may differ from one
another.
Note!
The check box "Run Faster" is only found in the PDA-version
8.2.1 Log-in/Log-out
If there is support in the truck for service functions, the truck must be
logged into service mode in order for the functions to be activated.
Once the truck report is generated, report status and status text are
displayed. When the report is ready, the buttons Save and View are
activated.
View allows the report to be reviewed before being saved to the PDA or
PC.
The Upload button is used to send truck reports via synchronisation. To
send a generated truck report, select Upload and the report will be sent
during the next synchronisation procedure (EASY technicians).
Note!
For VCE trucks, this function is to be used with the truck in logged-out
mode.

With the ‘e’ button, you can open a dialogue box where you select a
specific program package.
Emergency download
If there is a problem with the truck’s software and a normal download
cannot be done, there is a possibility to download new software to one
node at a time using Emergency download.
To start the emergency download:
1. Click on Emergency download.
2. Specify which node is to be updated.
3. Click Update.
4. Follow the information in the dialogue boxes shown.
8.2.9 Parameters
Note!
For VCE trucks, this function is to be used with the truck in logged-
out mode.
All the truck’s parameters can be saved and updated to/from files on a
PDA or PC.
Choosing to update from a file brings up the following screen. Use this
window to select the file you want to update from and click on it.
8.3.1 Parameters
When you choose a node, its parameters are displayed. The function
for returning all parameters to their standard settings is not active for all
truck models.
When you want to save and update from a file, proceed in the same
way as when saving truck parameters.

Note!
For VCE trucks, this function is to be used with the truck in logged-
out mode.
Note!
The appearance and functions under Parameter - Details vary
depending on the truck connected.
You can also move between parameters by using the arrow keys.
Select the parameter by pressing enter. If you want to change a
parameter, the input is confirmed with Enter. To exit, press the Esc key.
8.3.2 Diagnostics
The X, Y and Z values for the shock sensor unit (SSU) of the collision
sensor can be displayed.
Note!
The check box "run faster" can only be found in the PDA-version.
8.6 Diagnostics
Some nodes support a diagnostic function. The appearance of the
interface varies depending on which diagnosis has been chosen. The
purpose of the diagnostic function is to provide assistance during
troubleshooting. Diagnosis+ lists all diagnoses. I/O shows all I/O. You
can also here select which I/O is to be shown. The images below show
a few examples of diagnoses.
Click on Run to see the values in real-time. The button text then
switches to Stop.
