    Creating Wi-Fi Hotspot
    • Any modern smartphone (iPhone or
    Android) can be turned into a WiFi
    hotspot.
    • A.k.a. Wi-Fi tethering
    • Smartphones are generally suitable
    for such activity for limited duration
    due to:
    • Plans not suitable for tethering
    • Device not available for calls, etc.
    • Battery life is limited
    • Hotspot coverage area is limited

    Creating Wi-Fi Hotspot with MiFi
    • MiFi is brand name for Mobile
    Wireless Router
    • Same as smartphone but only has
    one purpose, to create a Wi-Fi
    hotspot
    • Available from many different
    device vendors

    Creating Wi-Fi Hotspot Indoors
    • You can create a Wi-Fi hotspot
    indoors with smartphone or MiFi
    devices.
    • Its not the best approach because:
    • Mobile signal attenuates when
    going through walls
    • Smartphones / MiFi devices are
    only good for small coverage
    areas
    • For large coverage areas, proper
    Wi-Fi routers are required
