Aim of the Course


This course is designed to enable the learner acquire knowledge on basic concepts of
physics and assist the learner to apply the concepts with respect to Medicine, Pharmacy,
Physiology, and Medical Laboratory Technology

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, the learner should be able to:
 Describe and apply the measurements and scientific units of physical quantities
 Describe the parameters and dynamics of motion and relate them to the human
body.
 Describe the principle of machines and how they apply to the human body
 Describe the properties, statics, and dynamics of fluids and how they apply to the
human body.
 Understand and explain properties waves and optics including their application to
sight and hearing.
 Explain the laws and applications of kinetic theory of gases and thermodynamics
 Understand and appreciate the use and dangers of Nuclear Physics
 Understand the basic physical principles behind non invasive medical imaging
techniques.
