MAINTENANCE - INSPECTION INTERVALS GROUP 75

AIRCRAFT RESCUE AND FIRE FIGHTING VEHICLE

MAINTENANCE - INSPECTION INTERVALS
1. INTRODUCTION Safety inspections should be performed on vehicles at
intervals specified in the table. This inspection includes
This group provides instruction for periodic inspection items which may affect safety of personnel and
intervals of the vehicle and accessories. All servicing equipment.
and maintenance must be performed at specified
intervals for optimum vehicle performance and maximum See the Caterpillar and Allison operator/maintenance
up-time. manuals provided with the vehicle for more specific
maintenance interval information for each component.
The Scheduled Inspections Table in this group lists the
inspections to be conducted and specifies the intervals NOTE
at which such inspection should be performed. Intervals The safety inspection should be performed on
are nominal periods, based on normal operating vehicles in case of a major assembly failure or
conditions. Intervals should be adjusted accordingly for if major brake repairs are required within 60
extremes of temperature or other adverse operating days or 2,000 miles of a scheduled safety

inspection.
2. SCHEDULED INSPECTIONS Worn parts or components visually determined
Inspection intervals to be observed on this vehicle are to be in doubtful condition should be
categorized as follows: considered justification for complete
disassembly/repair and/or replacement.
• Daily (or after each use).
• Periodic - Monthly - 50 hours or 1,000 miles,
whichever comes first.
• Periodic - 4 months, 100 hours or 2,000 miles,
whichever comes first.
• Safety - annual, 300 hours, or 6,000 miles,
whichever comes first.
The vehicle Operator’s Manual contains the daily
inspections which should be performed by the vehicle
operators, see Group 46. Periodic inspections in this
section should be conducted by maintenance personnel.
Periodic inspection of the vehicle and equipment
consists of performance, condition checks, and visual
inspection of components. It is intended that these
inspections and services, listed in the table, be
accomplished by the visual and “feel” method during the
course of lubrication and should not be cause for
extensive test or corrective action unless such actions
are obviously required.
