1 EARTH WORKS
Notes:-
Rate to include Clearing and Grubbing of the fill area
including, curing and removal of shrubs, plants and
stumps, disposal of rubbish / excavated stuff or any other
unwanted material to contractor's own disposal ground.
The rate for excavation should include carting away the
debris, pieces of rock , earth etc. to the dumping ground
for all lifts and leads inside the site premises with the
permission of EIC.
The rate for excavation should include refilling / back
filling of excavated pits / mass excavation with approved
material & approved procedure.
The rate for excavation should include stacking of
excavated material inside the site as directed by EIC.
The rate should also include dewatering /sludge
excavation area filled by the rain water or any other
external source and pools of water in the building area
by using diesel driven pumps or other devices, including
disposing of the water to a safe distance as directed.
Backfilling in working space areas & areas between two
adjacent footings, if excavated for any reason is inclusive
of excavation rate only.
The rate for all excavation shall include for shoring the
sides or trenches with approved timber/steel accessories
wherever necessary to prevent the sides from falling
including bailing or pumping out of water (naturally
occurring water met with while excavating the pits, ) if
found necessary. If there are any shrubs, bushes, trees
etc., are to be removed & replanted / demolished as
directed by site in charge, roots of the trees should be
removed for minimum depth 5’0”. All the trees needs to
be shifted away from the site premises and dumping
place
to be identified by the contractor.
Individual boulders which may be encountered in the
excavations and which can be removed by crow
bars/bucket of poclain excavator from the parent-matrix
shall be removed and shall form part of this item and no
separate payment will be made.
Contour level to be taken jointly by EIC & Contractor
before starting any excavation/ filling at every 3 / 5 mtr
grids.
Should contractor excavate to a greater depth or width
than shown on the drawing or instructed by PMC/Client,
the contractor shall at his own expense fill in such
greater depth or width of excavation with PCC. Bedding
as described in the foundation drawings by structural
consultant.

Carrying out excavation in the specified type of soil,
inclusive of de-watering to keep the area clear from
water ponding at all times, to the required depth and
profile as shown on drawings. Rate includes removal of
old foundations, plinth beams, floor concrete, trenches,
sewers, pipelines, column stubs, any other retaining
structure etc. with or without reinforcement and other
embedment and carting away the debris. No separate
payment will be made on account of breaking, removing
and carting away of such existing structures within the
excavation area.
The excavated material, as directed by Project
Manager/Engineer-in-charge, shall be retained at the
locations within the site. The rate of excavation includes
cost of all necessary licenses, Royalty charges (to be
paid by contractor) and permissions for the disposing
the unsuitable earth from appropriate authorities. No
additional lead or lift shall be claimed for inside dumping
of the excavated material.
Contractor shall take all necessary steps to ensure that
the temporary soil retention system (touching piles,
diaphragm wall or any other shoring system) is not
damaged or disturbed during the excavation activity. In
case any damages occurred, the Contractor shall make
good such damages during the progress of the work at
his own cost.
The final approved founding strata shall be left
absolutely clean by removing loose, slushy soil, murrum
and weathered rocks with necessary tools and tackles,
cleaning the surface by wire brush and carting away the
debris, dewatering to keep site dry at all times till laying
and curing of PCC etc. are all complete to the approval
of PM/Engineer-in-Charge.
The rate of excavation are inclusive of providing and
maintaining in good condition, barricading all along
excavated pits with minimum 75 mm dia pipe of 2 m
height with signs of danger on it. And it will be
removed after
completion of structure / directed by site in charge only.
Excavation in all kinds of soils, soft or hard murrum, soft
rock, hard rock, loose or stiff clay in foundations,
trenches, rafts, footing pits, up to depth mentioned below
the ground level including providing strutting and
shoring,
dressing to excavated sides as required for excavation.
For measurement of depth of excavation, the average
slope of the particular building should be calculated and
the average level should be considered at "0.00" level
i.e. the average ground level. All below depths shall be
measured from this level
Earth work in excavation by mechanical means
(Hydraulic excavator) / manual means over areas
(exceeding 30 cm in depth, 1.5 m in width as well as 10

Rubble Soling: Providing and laying rubble packing
230mm thick using hard stone rubble, handset one on
edge, consolidating the same with power roller 8 to 10
tonnes wherever possible, or ramming with heavy

Pest Control: Unless otherwise specified, the rates

with 19/49 parts of water to get 1% Emulsion and as per
manufacture's specification.

Connected civil work such as cut-open the surface for
treatment, insertions like nozzles at require places.
Protecting the treated surface and other works in
progress and redoing in case of any damage.
The description and specification for treatment contained
in the Bill of Quantities is indicative only and is meant to
set out a general outline of the Proprietary system as
commonly understood. The eventual requirement is
performance oriented to achieve total termite proof
expected from the system that is adopted. Since the
systems, both in materials and methodology of
application, are proprietary, the onus of examining the
drawings, BOQ, specifications and site conditions lies on
the Contractor. The prices quoted shall be
comprehensive and appropriate and shall include all the
applicable items envisaged in the system, whether or not
they have specifically described in the documents /
information supplied.
Anti-termite treatment shall be guaranteed for a period of
at least 10 (Ten) years in an approved proforma
acceptable to the Owner on a stamp paper.
Material Safety Data Sheet to be submitted and approved
prior to use at site.
Providing and injecting chemical emulsion of approved 225 278167.50
manufacturer for Pre-construction Anti-termite treatment
and creating a chemical barrier under and all around
foundation/ column pits, back fill in immediate contact
with foundation, wall trenches, basement excavation,
junction of wall and floor, vertical fill around reinforced

plinth filling, external perimeter of the building, junction of

of an emulsion concentrate of one percent concentration

sprayer on one square metre surface area as per IS:

termite treatment to other areas such as excavations,

deemed to be included in the rate).
Providing and laying LD Polysheet 300 micron all

The cement used for PCC and RCC works shall be 43/53
Grade OPC with fly ash (Fly ash content allowed to
maximum 20% of cementations material) / PPC as
approved by the consultant/PMC/Employer/EIC.
Concrete shall be mixed by mechanical means such as
approved weigh batch mixer / batching plant at site / RMC
of works.
Weigh batching shall be done as per approved Design
Mix.
Rates quoted shall be inclusive of all leads, lifts at all
levels.
Concrete of specified grade and approved Design Mix
only shall be used, the design mix analysis shall be
submitted and got approved prior to use in the works by
structural consultant & EIC.
Rates quoted shall be inclusive of testing of all materials
at the site or an approved Laboratory including the costs
of samples, equipment, etc incurred for conducting such
tests & also for the design mix as required.
Contractor shall set-up well equipped laboratory at the
site of works for regular and/or periodic testing of
material such as compression testing machine, sieve
apparatus,

The rate shall include for providing recesses, cornices


and ledges to slabs, beams, columns, walls, providing
openings in slabs, walls, beams, making provisions for
fixing inserts, sleeves, grouting nozzles at construction
joints etc. in concrete, making holes in form-work for
taking out dowels for future construction at the
construction joints, forming small ribs or grooves up to
35 mm in thickness and/or depth etc. complete. The rate
quoted shall be for erecting staging, form-work etc. for
the finally concreted floor to floor height of up to 7.0 m.
All staging and form-work systems must be designed for
the loading criteria stipulated by the consultant and such
design shall be approved by the consultant before
implementing on the site.
Rates quoted shall be inclusive of all leads, Floor
Heights, lifts, edges of slabs, breaks in floors and walls
at all levels. The cost of necessary Scaffolding &
shuttering / reproping (back propping) arrangement /
shuttering retain for shrinkage strip is to be included in
the rate and will not be paid separately. The cost should
be inclusive of providing chamfers as per the
Architectural & Structural drawings.
De-shuttering should be done only after approval of
Structural consultant & EIC.
The erection of formwork and the sequence of
construction must be compatible with the overall
construction methodology suggested by Structural
Consultant. The period of de-shuttering and the nature of
formwork/staging in some areas may differ from the
normal construction cycle and conventional methods
respectively, which must be taken into account while
offering rate for this item.
The rate shall be separately quoted for the following :

C STEEL REINFORCEMENT
Fixing steel reinforcement for RCC including material,
fabricating as per IS-2502, transporting, storing, de-
coiling, straightening, cutting, bending, spirally hooping
and placing in position at all levels, including all labour,
equipment, supplies, incidentals, sampling and testing
as prescribed in IS codes including all charges thereon
for requisite tests, supervision and binding with 18 gauge
approved quality GI Annealed binding wire. The
measurement shall be as per IS 1200 Part: 8 and unit
weight shall be derived as mentioned in IS 1786. The
rolling margin shall be on Contractors own cost. The rate
shall include cost of cover blocks, binding wire, chairs,
spacers, bursting links, chairs, pins requires for PT
tendon profile to be provided as per specifications and
will not be measured separately for payment. Quantity of
steel as per drawing and with authorized overlaps only
shall be
measured and paid for.
The quoted rate will include welding of reinforcement
with low hydrogen low heat welding electrodes for the
welding length mentioned in the drawings in place of
conventional laps, if the consultants have recommended
the same, for which no extra shall be claimed. Replacing
conventional laps with welding splices will be entirely at
consultant’s discretion and will have to be borne by the
Contractor. Such unclaimed welding will also include
welding of reinforcement to already fixed insert plates,
structural steel members etc. Shear connectors prepared
from the reinforcing steel welded to structural steel
members shall
be measured in the reinforcement item.
The rate also includes protecting the reinforcing bars – in
their virgin form or in the fabricated form, or when placed
and tied up position or as dowels left for future
continuation of work or at construction joint – against
corrosion due to exposure to weather if left exposed and
un-encased for more than three weeks from the date of
delivery to the site. Cement wash shall be given to such
bars if they are likely to be exposed for more than three
weeks and less than twelve weeks. Process of
application of cement slurry shall be repeated after every
twelve
weeks if the exposure period is stretched.
Note:- Chairs will be done wherever required as per the
instructions of the Engineer in Charge. Laps to be as per
IS code unless & other wise mentioned in the structural
drawings.
The contractor has to submit detail bar bending schedule
& detail fabrication drawings at his own cost.

The contractors unit rate is for all materials including
reinforcement steel based on the basic rate for
reinforcement steel, specified binding wire, chair rod,
spacer rod, labour, tools, scaffolding, to take delivery
from suppliers, neat stacking, leading, lifting, unloading,
following lead and lift at all levels, and for all other works
as per specification and to complete the works as
directed by the consultants & EIC.
The contractor has to submit reinforcement test result to
Structural consultant & EIC prior to use well in advance.
Reinforcement for R.C.C. work including cost of binding
wire, straightening, cutting, bending, placing in position

provided by client free of Cost)

concrete as per standard construction practice or as

works or RMC.
Weigh batching shall be done as per approved Design
Mix.
Rates quoted shall be inclusive of all leads, lifts at all
levels. The cost should be inclusive of providing
chamfers as per the Architectural & Structural drawings.
Deshuttering should be done only after approval of
Structural consultant & EIC.
Concrete of specified grade and approved Design Mix
only shall be used, the design mix analysis shall be
submitted and got approved by structural consultant &
EIC prior to use in the works.
Rates quoted shall be inclusive of testing of all materials
at the site or an approved Laboratory including the costs
of samples, equipment, etc incurred for conducting such
tests.

All cement concrete shall be machine mixed, vibrated
and tamped as required. The rates for all items of
PCC/RCC shall include for the cost of labour, materials
and cost of plasticizer, admixtures (as per mix design
requirements), vibrator, tamped, curing for all the
concrete, protection
of exposed concrete edges etc.
The rate shall be also inclusive & hold good for all shapes
in plan and elevations and at all heights for all members
of structure/block.
The rate shall be also inclusive & hold good for filling of
pockets/patches/openings left due to post tensioning
operation of slabs/beams to get the same finish of the
surface of the members. The necessary material like
cement, aggregates, admixtures & adhesives etc. shall
also be included in the quoted rates. All concrete joints
shall be properly rendered and finished RCC surface
should be as per specified form finish.
Contractor’s sole responsibility to protect all RCC
surfaces including columns till handed over.
The top of RCC floor and roof slab should be left rough to
receive finish including hacking, roughening of the
concrete surface for receiving plaster or any other finish.
The rate for RCC work shall include for forming
projections, sinking, slope in mother slab as specified for
floors/ toilets / parking area / roofs as per drawing and
instructions, forming opening or niches, providing dowel
bars. The rates quoted shall include forming construction
joints / expansion strips as directed by the Consultant.
Cost to be inclusive of making cover blocks required at
bottom, sides ( while manufacturing the side/vertical
cover blocks binding wire will be inserted in to cover
blocks for tying) in all levels, cover blocks shall be
manufactured
using 6mm and downgraded chips in M25 mix.
All columns should be casted at one go without joint in
one floor with approved finish by Architect & EIC.
Providing and laying premixed by in house batching plant
and transported to respective locations, pumped / lifted
at the location of pour with the contractor’s own
arrangement controlled reinforced cement concrete
conforming to grade as mentioned below as per
specifications in the following items at any depth or up to
any height within the building to be constructed,
manufactured at or outside the site, excluding the cost of
steel reinforcement, but inclusive of cost towards
compacting with vibrators, curing and hacking the
exposed surface wherever required to receive plaster or
floated steel troweled surface wherever specified. The
rate shall include for providing recesses to slabs, walls
and columns and placing and securing properly within
the form-work sleeves and/or openings in slabs,
embodiments such as bolts, insert plates, corner
protection angles, plates, anchors etc. (embodiments
shall be paid separately under respective items)

enhance the workability, to achieve accelerated strength,
etc. The rate shall include use of plasticizers and
retarders to limit the water/cement ratio to 0.45 and the
temperature to 30deg Celsius at the time of setting.
Complete care shall be taken to achieve dense and fully
watertight concrete.
The rates inclusive of necessary access ways, ladders to
provide for quality checks as directed by EIC
Rate quoted will hold good for all shape and at all
elevations
The rate shall be also inclusive for Grouting using
cement in pockets, holes, pipe sleeves of any shape or
size at all levels above or below ground etc. as per
standard
technical specifications & as approved / instructed /
recommended by engineer.

5 STEEL WORKS
Fabrication from local structural steel plates and
sections. Preparing shop drawings, obtaining Structural
consultants approval, supplying, fabricating in
accordance with IS:800, delivering at site, hoisting and
fixing in position, including all temporary staging and
supporting work and making all structural steel work in
accordance with the design, drawings prepared by the
consultants. The rate of steel work shall include cutting,
grinding, machining, assembly, welding, jointing, building
up new sections, cost of fasteners (nuts, bolts and
washers), pre-heating the sections to temperatures up to
250 degree C if thickness of the section is equal to or
more than 25 mm. Fabrication will involve connections
using plates, channels and angles, gusset plate,
foundation bolts, cleats, fasteners etc. as per drawing,
steel conforming to IS : 226 and IS : 2062 with minimum
yield strength of 250 Mpa.
The rate to include 2 coats of approved primer, and 2
coats of approved colour and shade of enamel paint. The
dry film thickness of each coat of primer shall be not less
than 25 microns. Minimum dry film thickness of each
coat of finish paint of synthetic enamel shall be 25
microns. The rate shall include cleaning the surface of
steel work
with mild acid wash, wire brush and pressurized water jet
etc...
Note: The contractor shall submit fabrication drawings for
work Involved based on construction drawings (that may
be issued during construction period) for approval by the
consultant, Architect & EIC. The fabrication work shall
start only after approval of the fabrication drawings. Any
change required in the fabrication drawings shall be
carried out at no extra cost. Fabrication shall be in a
perfect Architectural workmanship manner and as
provided in Section V and VI of IS 800 and IS 7215.
Welding shall be carried out by qualified welders.
Electrodes for welding, the procedure, selection, test and
inspection shall confirm to provisions in IS 816, IS 818,
IS 822, and IS 833.Erection / hoisting shall commence

projection, moss and lichen must be removed physically
followed by treatment with fungicidal wash to kill any
spores and inhibit further growth.

honey comb areas with cement grout, proper preparation
of the concrete surface by mechanical means/hydro
blasting to ensure a good bond between the topping and
