Fear, Intimidation, Anxiety, Timidity, Poor in self-assurance…
Anybody, no matter how bad your story is, can breakthrough from timidity and lack of
confidence into confidence and boldness.
Rejection could be one of the causes of fear and lack of confidence.

LESSON 2: YOUR SELF CONFIDENCE DEPENDS ON YOUR REFERENCE


POINT
Reference Point determines whether you are going to have low self-esteem and lack of self-
confidence or otherwise.
A lot of our lack of self-confidence is caused by our reference point.
Reference point is a point where we subconsciously refer to in our minds that gives us our
value and significance or lack of significance.
Memories in your mind and in your solitary times that you constantly refer to when you talk
to yourself and associate yourself with.
Reference point forms your attitude about yourself.
If your reference point is something bad that you associate yourself with, then it will
contribute in the killing of your confidence and self-worth.
Example is David when facing Goliath, His reference point was the bear and lion he killed.
To regain your self-esteem and self-confidence, you must have a reference point that
establishes your confidence.
Major reference points that influence our confidence levels
1. Our Mothers – What do you remember when you remember your mother?
2. Our Fathers – What do you remember when you think about your father. What
memories come to your mind?
3. Siblings and family members.-
Generally, the environment that you grew up in programmed you so much and it have so
much to contribute to your self-confidence.
4. Your environment i.e. village, town and the general community you grew in.
5. Your neighbors. What association do you have with your neighbors? What are the
habits and behavior patterns of people around you? How do they affect you?
6. The schools and class mates. What is your memory from the schools and class mates?
Schools have determined to a large extent the future of many people.
7. GOD factor. Faith in God or lack of faith in God.
8. Education level. Where are you educationally? It could affect your self-worth and
confidence.
9. The kind of job you have.
10. The society that you live in also could affect your self-esteem.
Have a time to reflect on your life and see how these factors have contributed to your self-
confidence or lack of self-confidence.

LESSON 3: YOUR SELF CONFIDENCE COMES FROM YOUR WORTH


It takes a very confident person to breakthrough and make it in life.
Knowing your worth will boost your self-confidence.
It is the knowing of your worth that grows your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Self-confidence is knowing and believing that you too deserve and are qualified for honor,
celebration and respect.
Self-confidence is nor arrogance but self-assurance and inner peace with yourself.
The knowledge of self-worth comes from the following basis
1. An assurance that you are unique, different and special. No one can compete with me
in being me. I was not mass produced. Your uniqueness talks about your self-worth.
Believe it or not, you are unique.
 Is there anything in your life that you do different from others? E.g. Walking,
voice, dressing, cooking etc.
 Difference, Uniqueness demands for respect, honor and celebration.
 Your difference is telling you to believe in yourself, to honor yourself and to
celebrate yourself.
 Your difference is your pedestal and springboard.
