    Crochet Dolphin Toy

    Abbreviations:
    ch = chain
    st = stitch
    sl st = slip stitch
    sc = single crochet

    Things You Will Need:


    • Worsted weight yarn-blue
    • H crochet hook
    • Scissors
    • Stuffing
    • Yarn needle
    • 8mm black beads-2
    • Sewing needle and thread

    Finished Size: Approximately 9” long


    Special Note: Crochet is worked in continuous rnds. Do not join or ch up rounds.

    Body
    Form a magic ring.
    Rnd 1: Ch 1, 4 sc in the ring. Pull the tail to cinch the center closed.
    Rnd 2: Sc around.
    Rnd 3: 2 sc in each sc around. (8 sc.)
    Rnd 4: Sc around.
    Rnd 5: 2 sc in first 4 sc, sc in next 4 sc. (12 sc.)
    Rnd 6: Sc around.
    Rnd 7: *Sc in 2 sts, 2 sc in the next.* Repeat from * to * around. (16 sc)
    Rnd 8: Sc around.

    Rnd 24: Sc around.
    Rnd 25: 2 sc in next st, sc in next 8 st, dec, sc in next 9 st. (20 sts)
    Rnd 26: *Sc in next 3 sts, dec.* Repeat from * to * 3 more times. (16 sts) Firmly stuff
    body.
    Rnds 27-28: Sc around.
    Rnd 29: *Sc in next 2 sts, dec.* Repeat from * to * 3 more times. (12 sts)
    Rnds 30-31: Sc around. Continue to stuff the body.
    Rnd 32: *Sc in next st, dec.* Repeat from * to * 3 more times. (8 sts)
    Rnds 33-34: Sc around. After last rnd, sl st in next st. Fasten off leaving a tail for
    sewing.

    Thread a yarn needle with the tail. Sew a running stitch through the last round of sts. Pull
    the tail to draw the opening closed. Knot and fasten off. Weave in the end.

    Pectoral Fins: (make 2)


    Form a magic ring.
    Rnd 1: Ch 1, 5 sc in the ring. Pull the tail to cinch the center closed.
    Rnd 2: Sc in 4 sts, 2 sc in the next. (6 sts)
    Rnd 3: Sc in 5 sts, 2 sc in the next. (7 sts)
    Rnd 4: Sc in 6 sts, 2 sc in the next. (8 sts)
    Rnd 5: Sc in 7 sts, 2 sc in the next. (9 sts)
    Rnd 6: Sc in 8 sts, 2 sc in the next. (10 sts)
    Rnd 7: Sc in 9 sts, 2 sc in the next. (11 sts)
    Rnd 8: Sc in 10 sts, 2 sc in the next. (12 sts) Sl st in the next st. Fasten off leaving a tail
    for sewing.

    Rnd 1: Ch 1, 6 sc in the ring. Pull the tail to cinch the center closed.
    Rnd 2: *Sc in one st, 2 sc in the next.* Repeat from * to * 2 more times. (9 sts)
    Rnd 3: Sc around.
    Rnd 4: *Sc in 2 sts, 2 sc in the next.* Repeat from * to * 2 more times. (12 sts)
    Rnd 5: Sc around.
    Rnd 6: *Sc in 2 sts, dec.* Repeat from * to * 2 more times. (9 sts)
    Rnd 7: *Sc in one st, dec.* Repeat from * to * 2 more times. (6 sts) Sl st in the next st.
    Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.

    Finishing:
    Tail: Thread the yarn tail of one tail fin section on a yarn needle. Sew to one stitch on
    the top edge of the other tail fin section. Knot and fasten off. Position the body with the
    top facing up. Wrap the attached tail fin sections horizontally around the tail point of the
    body. Thread the remaining yarn tail on the needle, sew the tail to the body.

    Dorsal Fin: Stand the dorsal fin on top of the body with the front of the fin on Rnd 15.
    Sew the fin to the body.

    Pectoral Fins: Place one pectoral fin on the side of the body with the front of the fin on
    Rnd 12 and 9 sts below the dorsal fin. Sew the fin to the body. Repeat with the
    remaining pectoral fin on the other side of the body.

    Eyes: Using black thread and a sewing needle, sew an 8mm black bead between Rnds
    8 and 9, and 3/4" in front of one pectoral fin. Attach the remaining black bead to the
    other side of the body.
