2. Step loading process

2.1 Description of test pile loading
The loading method in static load test is as follows: 4 anchor piles are set around the
test pile, and the hydraulic jack and the steel beam for loading are installed on the top
of the test pile. The steel beam is divided into primary and secondary beams, the main
beam is installed vertically above the jack, while the secondary beam is installed
vertically above the anchor pile.
At the top of the anchor piles, sufficient length of prestressed rebars need to be chiseled
out, and the anchor rebars are anchored by the pull caps. In the vertical direction, 28mm
diameter rebars are used to connect the secondary beam with the pull caps, forming a
finishing force system, when the jacks are loaded, the force is transferred to the anchor
piles through the main beam and the connecting steel bars, and the anti-pulling force of
the anchor piles are used to resist the force of the jacks, so as to realize the purpose of
transferring the reaction force to the top of the test pile.
900/1000mm diameter test pile: Loaded to a maximum of 6000kN, single anchor
pile bearing 1500kN.
2.2 Load test steps
2.2.1 Usage specification
Technical Specification for Test and Inspection of Port and Waterway Engineering
Foundation (JTS-237-2017), China industry standard
2.2.2 Test requirements
Rapid maintenance loading method was adopted in this test, the time of settlement
measurement reading shall be 5min, 15min, 30min and 60min after loading at each
loading step, the settling time shall be 15min at each unloading step.

The loading can be terminated when the test meets one of the following conditions
(1) Under certain load, the settlement of pile top is more than 5 times of the settlement
under the action of the previous first-grade load or the Q-s curve shows a steep drop
section that can determine the ultimate bearing capacity and the total settlement of pile
top exceeds 40mm.
(2) Q-s curve has no obvious steep drop section, and the total settlement of pile top
reaches 60mm ~ 80mm or the maximum allowable settlement as required by the design.
(3) The loaded value is the maximum amount of load required by the design.
2.2.2 Steps
a. Cut more 300mm length of the previous broken 900mm pile, for anchoring the
anchor plate.
b. Install the anchor plate, observing beam and hydraulic jack.
c. Install the load beam and anchor rebars, fix the anchor plate with the pile by
anchorage device, and then start the test.
