 Executive summary

Child labor has now become a very serious problem especially in Dhaka city, the capital of
Bangladesh. Because Dhaka city is an over populated city in Bangladesh. In different districts
people come in this city for earn money. In Dhaka city has so many sector where people can
get their work. Everyone wants to develop him or herself. So day by day people are increase
in this city for their work. And child labor is increase in Dhaka city.

In Bangladesh, every city has so many child labors. But in Dhaka city child labor is more
than other city. So many narrow mind people like the child labor. They work hard and they
work long time in low price. For Child labor have so many sectors for work. Like as
transportation, steel work sheet, hotel, house, brick field etc. Per day they work 12-14 hours
but they cannot get proper money. In Bangladesh child labors parents who provide their
children to the work. Because their poverty they cannot continue their family. So they need
the money for run their family. For this reason they provide their children to the work. And
also some criminal take the children and they sell them in brick field, house etc. so many girls
are make sex worker. Because their family condition is not good that mean they joint this
profession for their poverty.

Finally, I want to mention that we need to make awareness to reduce the child labor. It is not
only our social problem it also our economical problem. In Bangladesh so many organization
are working for reduce the child labor problem. Our government provides many laws to
reduce the child labor problem and government open many schools to educate the child labor.
Our government provides money for the girls and free books for every student. Our
government wants to reduce the child labor. We also need to make awareness to reduce the
child labor. If we educated the child labor we can develop our country.

Introduction
One of the most challenging troubles and issues in our country is Child labor. It is a very
regular problem is all the cities of Bangladesh. Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. It is the
most heavily populated city in the world. In Dhaka city more than twelve million people live
(Ahmed.S. 2017). Day by day child labor is increasing in Dhaka city. Child labor work is
become insufferable in Dhaka. But now this time they need to stay in school and field for
their real education. But they cannot do it for their poverty.

Some of the person encourages the children for make the child labor in Bangladesh, because
child labor cost is so low and they can get the child labor easily for their own benefit. But
Child labor increases the financial loss for the Bangladesh. If they will make the educated
person and they learn most of the work then our government will get money by them. That
means they earn money and its money develop our country. Our Government provides law to
stop the child labor problem. Our government already controls this problem and also works
for this issue.

Statement of the problem

I pick this topic " The Present Condition of Child Labor in Dhaka City and Find Out Possible
Solution and Motivate their Parents to Educated Their Child" since type work is the most
well-known issue in our general public .it's not just individual issue and it's likewise our
national issue. Because of kid work issue, we are enduring financially, physically and even
rationally. Along these lines, I need to chip away at this indispensable issue to discover the
causes and conceivable arrangements.

Background of research

In time, child work issue is a worldwide issue and nearby issue. Youngster work is the real
reason for stop the create on the planet or it decrease the capacity to build up our nation. Per
square kilometer 993 live in the (Bangladesh Economic Review 2011) subsequently type
works are increment in the Bangladesh. Presently a day in our nation has increment the

need to motivate their parents for educated their children because if we can make to educated
the child labor then we will get beautiful country.

The research aim is to identify the causes, solution and laws to prevent child labor.

children’s childhood.

Scope & Limitation of research

This research report deals “The Present Condition of Child Labor in Dhaka City and Find out
Possible Solution and Motivate their Parents to Educated Their Child”. The researcher tried
best to make this research as perfect as possible; still there are some limitations of this
research. It is knowledge that the work here is exploratory study because previously no study
was done. The survey took some time due to personal visits. Time constraints and cost are
also the limitation of our study.

Definition of terms

Definition of children:

Children mean whose age is fewer than 17. And who is not maturity or not large age person.
Children who need to stay with his parents for survive his or her life and who need to go to
school.

Definition of labor:

Labor means who work in physically and mentally for producing the product and services.
There are three types of labor 1. Daily labor-whose get money for one day work 2. Weekly
labor-whose get money in weekly and 3. Monthly labor-whose get money monthly.

Present conditions of Child Labor in Dhaka city:

In Dhaka city day by day it is increasing. But we cannot stop or control it. Because our city is
highly populated and every day people are come in this city for found their work. In Dhaka
city children work in different sector and this city has so many working sectors for the
children. Such as transport, workshop, brick field, house security etc. And this cities people
also like the children for their work because they get their labor by the low cost. For our
narrow mind child labors are increase in the Dhaka city. But so many organizations are
working in this city to stop the child labor and also make educated the child labor. The names
of the organization who work for the child labor are UNICEF, ILO and JAAGO
FUNDATION. They work in our country to stop the child labor problem. But they can’t do it
for some narrow mind people. Our government provides so many roles for stop the child
labor problem. But Dhaka cities people does not maintain it. This has so many reasons if they
stop the work for children they need to high money for the worker.

Role of Education for child labor:
The education for child labor is important for the economic development of a country and,
therefore, Bangladesh government work on different project to educated the child labor. The
proper education for the child labor, it reduce the child labor problem and also increase the
money. In Bangladesh so many organization open their school for the child labor. Our
government provides some roles for the children education. Every poor girl got money and
also every student get free books for their proper education. The education for child labor in
Bangladesh contributed to the development of the country by bringing in direct benefits from
its role in the development of some sectors, such as minerals, agriculture, industry and
commerce.

Children in hazardous work

It is a harsh truth that despite the government amending laws and signing the ILO Convention
on worst forms of child labor, thousands of children are engaged in work that are hazardous
to their physical and mental well-being and that deprive them of the basic right to education.
A government survey has found almost 13 lakh out of a total of 17 lakh child laborers to be
doing hazardous work. They are paid a pittance and often end up working in non compliant
factories and workshops and as domestic workers placing them at risk of injury, illness,
physical and verbal abuse and even death.

Experts on child labor have suggested several steps to tackle child labor. The national
education policy 2010 for example, that makes education compulsory up to grade eight,
should be immediately implemented. The National Social Security Strategy (NSSS) 2015,
should be made effective as it aims to provide better coverage of the safety net to families in
need who are forced to send their children to work in order to survive. In addition
international conventions and laws governing child labor must be enforced so that no child is
engaged in work that is hazardous and so that every child has access to education, even those

Govt. to eradicate child labor by 2025

State Minister for Labor and Employment Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu has said the
government is aiming to eradicate child labor from Bangladesh within 2025. He made the
statement while talking to the journalist after a meeting with European Union Parliamentary
delegation at the secretariat on Thursday. The minister said: “The government will eliminate
child labor from 38 risky sectors within 2021 and from all sectors by 2025.”

According to a report published by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics last December, there are
as many as 3.45 million children in active labor in Bangladesh. Ten years ago, when the BBS
published its last report, 3.2 million children were in active labor. So, in 10 years, child labor
has increased by 250,000. The report also says that 1.228 million children were engaged in
hazardous jobs. In 2003, this figure was 1.3 million, showing that in 10 years the government
has managed to remove 72,000 children from hazardous jobs.

Research Questions:

Based on the literature review and the research’s aims and objectives, the following research
questions have been raised. The questions will be answered with the help of data gathered
during the study and discussed later in the study:

Question 1 Why child labors are increase in Dhaka city?

Question 2 What are the reasons behind this problem?

Question 3 Do you think child labor will create bad impact in Dhaka city?

Question 4 What should be the possible solution of child labor?

From the review of literature, it has been established that the research work has been conduct
to find out the problems and the cause of child labor in Dhaka city. There are lots of ways to
removing child labor in Dhaka city likes educate the child labor and motivate their parents to
educate their child. For the child labor our country faced lots of problem. I think our
government needs to take strong decision to stop the child labor problem. We know our
government takes so many projects to reduce the child labor in Bangladesh. The suggestions
are presented as guidance towards what should be achieved. From the review of literature, it

the study and also bring about new scopes for further research.

labor, this city are play important role for the country.

Findings about Child Labor Issue in Dhaka City-
Through this report I get to know about Child labor issue in Dhaka city and I have tried to
disclose some of the causes about Child labor. So, the causes of child labor are given below-

 Child labor Rule Violation: Only 10% people know the child labor rules. In our
country 60% people are not educated and 40% people are educated. But every
educated people don’t know the child labor roles. Illiterate people also don’t know the
child labor roles. So everyone violation the child labor roles.
 Poverty: For poverty in our country every day increase the child labor. Because poor
family cannot continue their family cost. So they provide their children in the work for
earn money to run their family.
 Over Population: Day by day our countries population is increase. But country’s
income is not increase so child labor are increase for the over population.
 High Education and living cost: In Bangladesh education and living cost is high. So
every parent cannot continue their children education. And living cost is high so they
need to huge money to live in this country.
 Weak Laws to Protect: In Our government provides law to protect the child toil
problem. But this law is weak. Anyone can’t maintain this law. Because so many
person are not know about this laws.
 Lack of School for Study: Bangladesh has not huge school for the poor children .So
they cannot run their study. Every parent wants to educate their children but our
country has not huge school for child labor.
 Parental Illiteracy: For parental illiteracy child labor are increases in Dhaka city.
Because parents don’t know about the child labor laws. When they need the money
they provide their children in work.
 Trafficking in Children: In Bangladesh, so many bad person who trafficking the
children. For this reason child labor is increase in our country. So many person take the
children and sale them another person. Now a day’s children are not safe for them.
And they also are trafficking in children in other country.

Suggestions according to my perspective -

Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. The heart of Bangladesh allocates around 1, 20, 00,000
people in a little area of 315 square miles. The city has increased child labor. But we need to
reduce the child labor in Dhaka city. So our government takes some project to protect the
child labor and they also want to educate the every child. So, the necessary steps are -

 Educate the children: Every child has needed the proper education. If we cannot
make a proper educated to the children we cannot reduce the child labor.
 Provide Strong Laws: For stop the child labor problem not only Dhaka city all over
the Bangladesh our government provide so many act. Bringing in laws that makes it
illegal for children to work until they reach a certain age makes it much easier to
combat a culture of child labor. In addition, laws can be brought in that ensure that
when teenagers do begin to work, they are not allowed to work beyond a certain
maximum number of hours and they are paid a minimum wage. 
 Ethical consumerism: By spending their money wisely or in advisedly, consumers
can help to halt or can (often inadvertently) support child labor. By investigating the
companies that you buy from and refusing to hand over your cash to companies that
deploy child labor, you can stop funding sweatshops and other unethical businesses
that are taking away the childhoods of young people across the globe. 
 Look after our employees: If you run a company, make sure to set a good example
in terms of how you treat your employees. Do not just adhere to the minimum legal
requirements for fair labor, but go beyond them, ensuring that everyone who works
for you is taken great care of.
 Donate to charities: Donate your money to charities that help children to escape the
trap of child labor. Donate, too, to charities that work to end poverty and lack of
education more generally because these are two factors that contribute especially
heavily to conditions in which child labor can flourish. Sometimes, we are too busy or
simply not in the right place to dedicate ourselves to the fight against child labor. 

 Society and Social values: Primarily, the state and society have to work together to
decrease child victimization from our society. We have to correct our moral views
of children. It is also necessary to amend our social values. [ CITATION sol06 \l 1033 ]

  Power should be use on time: Child Welfare Board should have the power for
adjudicating allegations against children in conflict. There should be an independent
non judicial forum as contemplated by the CRC to deal with children in conflict with
the law.

 Training for authority: It is important also to train up the persons concerned in the
children justice system so that proper implementation of the new law can be ensured.
The judiciary, law enforcing agents and the parents and guardians of children
themselves, must be sensitized to the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of
the Child and the law protecting children in Bangladesh.

 Possible lows should be accomplished: The Existing Woman and Child Repression
Act 2000 should be amended. There should be an individual bare Act in name, “the
Child Repression Act” for children only. In every district, Government should
establish an individual Tribunal for Child Repression. There should be the provisions
in this aforesaid proposed Act that a punishment of not less than death for person/s
who commit or abate in child homicide. The trial should be finished within two
months.

Conclusion:

The aims and objective of this research to specify the reason of child labor and way to
identify the major cause of child labor and laws to prevent child labor, how to motivate the
child labor to educate their children. Inform the people how can we reduce child labor
problem and find out the possible solution of child labor. Dhaka City is the capital of
Bangladesh which is a least developed country. It is very important for this City to take vital
role in the economy of Bangladesh. But now due to child labor problem, this City is causing
the major loss in the economy of Bangladesh. By reducing child labor in Bangladesh can
develop the economy. To ensure the economical development, child labor must be reduced.
In this report I already give some possible solution, because it is most important for our
society. In Dhaka city so many child labor are living for their life. In this city they work
different profession such as transportation, steel work shop, brick field etc. Now a day’s child
labors are increase in this city. We need to motivate the child labor parents to educate their
children. Because we need the reduce child labor to make our country develop.
