VI. Objectives of the Project

The general purpose of the project is to educate the youth to prohibited drugs in Barangay
Bani in Masinloc, Zambales. Toward the end, the following objectives are set to:

1. To impart proper knowledge on prohibited drugs and the possible short-term and long-
term effects of drug use and abuse
2. To increase the awareness of the community on problems associated with drug usage;
and
3. To seek support from the community and local officials in combatting the spread of
illegal drugs in the community.

VII. Project Description

Background of the project
Today, themes like glorification of drugs is popular in various media [films, recorded
music, or television]. For instance, the song Amatz by Filipino rapper Shanti Dope was
proposed to be banned by PDEA or the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for its
allegedly glorifying and promoting drug use theme. In June 17, the request by PDEA was
granted following an order from the National Telecommunications Commission. Kapisanan
ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) banned the song from being aired on all its member
TV and radio stations.
Exploitation of drug addiction in mass media is alarming, since young individuals are
the prime consumers of what is being offered in this platforms. Since what they offered can’t
be fully filtered that is appropriate to young audiences, these individuals are being expose to
drugs as they are promoted to “gain satisfaction, and wonderful” substance rather than a
substance than can potentially ruin lives, unlawful, and dangerous.
From this consequences, the group decided to be the one in enlightening individuals
that are incapable in learning drug education which is easy to learn and misinformed to
correct false information about drugs.
Justification of the Project
Barangay Bani has a young population, with a relatively high proportion of children,
adolescents, and young adults. To address the issue, the group will create a “school” for drug
education, with the group as lecturers and the selected audience as students. This project will
serve as a formal education in children and adolescents in the surging number of drug-related
cases in the country.
By imparting proper knowledge on the nature of prohibited drugs in tone and
language that a child can handle and understand, the “students” can apply their learnings as a
stepping stone in fighting temptations or peer pressure from drug usage. If the information is
properly disseminated, there is a also a good chance that the audience can share their
experiences and knowledge to others who did not participate and incapable of joining in the
lecture.
The project will benefit individuals with little to no knowledge on drug education, as
they are the main reason for the project. It aims group of people that are considered “high-
risk”, or people that are vulnerable in drug-related activities.
Benefits derived from the project
The project will be beneficial in the target audience in terms of prevention of drug
usage in the first place by explaining the underlying effects of various drugs available in the
black market.
Coverage
The project will cover 30 persons of the Barangay specifically orphans, street
dwellers and children with little to no educational attainment.

VIII. Methodology
The lecture-entertainment method will be employed in the project. Since the
demographic of our audience is young, lecturers will communicate in a tone that is
appropriate with children for them to listen and understand the lection. Games will serve as a
break from the lecture. As facilitators, the group will be in charge for the safety and well-
being of the participants.
