According to the EAPA website, the purpose of the practice test is to help candidates become familiar
“with the test structure, format, and content.” However, something that caught my attention was a
note explaining more specifically what they meant.

Note: The practice questions in this guide:

 are designed to give you an introduction to the nature of the questions included in the AEPA
tests;
 represent the various types of questions you may expect to see on an actual test; but,
 are not designed to provide diagnostic information to help you identify specific areas of strength
or weakness, or to predict your performance on the test as a whole.

Consequently, it seems my score on the practice test is not a good indicator for success on the actual
test. Nonetheless, I was able to learn other things. Some things the test helped me become aware of
are my reading speed and reading comprehension. When it comes to reading speed, I am a slow reader.
Instead of pushing my eyesight towards the next word, I look at every word attentively and sound it our
loud in my head. This causes me to read very slowly. When it comes to reading comprehension, I also
struggle in this area. I have to read every question and answer twice to fully understand what it is
saying. Those will be two areas I will focus on as I prepare for the test. Additionally, I will practice
organizing ideas when it comes to writing. I thought about using recreational reading to improve speed
and comprehension, but this method will not work because in my current routine I enjoy reading a
passage and spending time meditating on it to fully grasp what it is trying to say and ways I can apply it
to my life. Therefore, the best way to prepare will be to locate other practice exams and use them to
improve my skills.

It is difficult to grade one’s own writing since we are bias towards our own work. I believe I answered
the prompts completely.
I will be sharing my incorrect responses with my mentor to get additional feedback as to the reason why
I got them wrong.
One question I would like to ask my GCU professor is why this test cannot be used as a diagnostic tool.
Is it because the questions are too easy or because they do not fully cover all the content of the actual
test?
