ANNOUNCER
A and T TOUCHDOWN!!
TAYLOR
If only you had got your ticket when I
told you to.
PEPPER
How many times are you going to bring
that up.
TAYLOR
Once every quarter. And according to
Latoya's IG story they're in the
second quarter.
PEPPER
Okay.
(beat)
Let's do something!
TAYLOR
(still scrolling on her phone)
I am doing something.
PEPPER
No girl! Let's really do something.
She picks up her blueprints for her time machine and dangles
TAYLOR
Quit playing. I'm not doing that.
PEPPER
Why?
TAYLOR
Do you remember what happened last
time?!
PEPPER
Yes and I admitted that I it was my
bad! But I spent hours running
diagnostics and it's fixed.
TAYLOR
I can't. I have something due at
11:59.
PEPPER
You should have already done it.
TAYLOR
You right. Okay. Where are we going?
PEPPER
You pick.
TAYLOR
Auvers-sur-Oise, France. July 30th
1890.
TAYLOR
We're going to be back before 11:59
though right? Because I for real have
something due.
PEPPER
Like I said, you should have already
done it.
The girls exit the time machine and look around there
surroundings. The local people slowly walk past them with
disgusted faces. Some shield the faces of their kids and
quickly scurry along while others stop and stare. Taylor is
visibly uncomfortable.
TAYLOR
Are they noticing the machine?
PEPPER
No. Because we're in the past they
can't see futuristic things like our
phones, time machine, or airpods. They
do notice something else though.
TAYLOR
Can we go?
PEPPER
No! We just got here!
TAYLOR
Girl, I ain't trying to cuss on of
these people out! They keep looking at
me and I'm ready to go!
PEPPER
Sis, we know why you choice this
particular place at this particular
point in time. If you wanted to see
Van Gogh and not get looked at you
would have said D'Orsay in 2018.
PEPPER (CONT.)
Are you really gonna just stand there?
Come on!
TAYLOR
I'm for real though, they better not
touch my hair.
PEPPER
They probably don't want to touch us.
TAYLOR
Auberge Ravoux. Vincent lived there!
PATRON ONE
Lock the door.
LÉNA
I said the same thing about you.
PATRON TWO
This isn't the way to the Atlantic!
The room fields with laughter. Pepper and Taylor are in utter
shock. They never experienced anything like this in their
life.
LÉNA
(angered)
Hush! Don't dare say anything like
that!
PATRON TWO
What!? We need some laughter!
PATRON ONE
Especially after that insane painter
killed himself.
TAYLOR
Vincent is dead?!
LÉNA
You know Vincent?
PATRON THREE
What, why does that one sound like
that?
PEPPER
Her name is Taylor.
PATRON TWO
Why do they sound like that?
TAYLOR
(sobbing)
Pepper, how can you put in the wrong
date!? Vincent is dead!
LÉNA
(puzzled)
I do apologize. But how exactly do you
know Vincent?
PATRON THREE
Exactly my question! It's obvious that
you two are not from h-
Taylor jolts towards Patron Two with her fist tightly balled
up and her arm cocked. The fellow patrons jump up and yell
causing even more commotion. Last minute Léna and Pepper
grabs her and holds her back.
PEPPER
(calmly to Léna)
We don't know him personally. We're
from the future.
PATRON THREE
(mockingly)
The future!
PEPPER
My friend and I are wanting to meet
him. But we understand now that that
is impossible. We'll go.
LÉNA
Hush! All of you!
(to Taylor and Pepper)
Why don't you girls stay. Please? It
would be my honor. I've never met
anyone from the future before. Please?
Have some coffee? How about some wine?
PATRON ONE
If they stay I leave!
LÉNA
I will kindly show you all the door.
(sweetly to Pepper and Taylor)
I'll make you both coffee.
The three men scoff and mumble under their breathes as they
leave. Léna guides the girls to a four seating table. They
slouch down in there chairs. Taylor stretches her legs out in
the chair across from her.
TAYLOR
(heartbroken)
How can you have put in the wrong
date?
PEPPER
I put in the date you said. This is
not the time to argue. Lets just drink
the coffee and leave.
Léna approches with three cups in her hand. She joins them at
the table.
LÉNA
(apologetically)
I'm so sorry about all of this.
Especially those three horrible men.
PEPPER
It's fine. We're just going to drink
our coffee and leave.
LÉNA
Please don't leave so soon! Take some
TAYLOR
If everyone in this village are like
the dudes that were just here then
we're just going to go back to our
time.
LÉNA
I understand. However, please allow me
to show you some of Vincent's art work
before his brother Theo comes to
collect them.
TAYLOR
Maybe we can stay just a little while
longer.
Léna opens the door and walks in. Taylor and Pepper stand in
the hallway in shock.
TAYLOR
(amazed)
His bedroom! This is his bedroom! Pep!
It's his bedroom!
PEPPER
Did he paint this one?
TAYLOR
No. But it's still his bedroom!
LÉNA
You can come if you want.
(apologetically)
I do understand if you don't want to.
But honestly it's fine.
Taylor slowly enters the bedroom. She takes her time admiring
every detail of the room.
LÉNA
He spent a lot of time in here when he
wasn't painting. He would spend hours
TAYLOR
Are his letters still here?
LÉNA
Yes. They are in Dutch however?
TAYLOR
That's fine. I just really wanna touch
the paper. Maybe take a photo for the
Gram.
LÉNA
(puzzled)
The what?
PEPPER
(stammering)
It's-the Gram is- Instagram. We use it
to post photos and promote our hair
pages.
LÉNA
(even more puzzled)
O-okay. Well they are still here.
Both girls whip out there phones and snap photos of the room
and of letters and paintings that were left behind. Léna
looks on confused as the girls snap away.
LÉNA
What exactly are you two doing?
TAYLOR
Taking photos with our- never mind!
It's fine!
LÉNA
(quietly)
I don't think he shot himself.
