Activity 1: What’s Next
(joinmyquiz.com)
A. Reviewing previous lesson or
presenting the new lesson In this activity, the students will identify the next object, letter or numbers
based on the pattern.

In our lives, it goes through different stages, there are ups and downs but as
B. Establishing a purpose for the well know these situations help us to grow and develop. The growth or
lesson development showed pattern. These patterns are of great helpful in dealing
with different problems not only in math

Find the next term in the following sequences.

1. 3, 6, 9, 12, ___
2. A, G, M, S, ___

Determine whether the given is finite or infinite.

1. 10, 7, 4, 1, …
2. 1, 4, 6, 16, 32,…,256
C. Presenting examples/Instances
of the new lesson Find the first 3 terms of the sequence described by the function.

1. an = 3n + 1
2. an = n2 – 6n + 4

Determine the general rule (an) of the following sequences.

SEQUENCE
practicing new skills
A sequence is an arrangement of objects or numbers based on a rule. In
higher mathematics it is defined as s function whose domain is a set of
positive integers.

Find the next term in the following sequences.

1. A, G, M, S, ___
2. 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, ___
3. J, F, M, A, M, J, J A, ___
4. R, O, Y, G, B, I, ___
FINITE SEQUENCE AND INFINITE SEQUENCE
A sequence is said to be finite if the first term and the last term are
identified, otherwise it is infinite.

Determine whether it is finite or infinite.

1. 4, 8, 12, 16, 20
2. …18, 15, 12, 9,6
3. 7, 21, 63, … , 567
4. 7, 21, 63, … , 567
5. 10, 15, 20, 25, …
6. 7, 21, 63, … , 567
7. … , 16, 8, 4, 2, 1, …
8. ¼, 1/7, … , 1/22, …

SEQUENCE AS A FUNCTION

Since we define sequence as a function whose domain is a set of positive

integers, then, it is possible for us to represent this in terms of function or
equation.

Examples:
1. Find the first three terms of the sequence described by:
a. an = 4n +2
b. an = 3n - 1

2. Determine the rule used in the following sequences.

a. 2, 4, 6, 8, …
b. 3, 7, 11, 15, …
c. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, …

Study the given sequences, identify the pattern, then find the missing
number/s.

1. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, ___, 13, 15, 17

E. Developing mastery
2. 17, 15, 13, ___, ____, ____
3. 100, 50, 25, ____.
4. 1, 1, 2, 3 , 5, 8, ____, ____

F. Real Life Application Ask the students about the real-life application of Sequence.

Fill in the blank with the correct word or words

______________is an arrangement of objects or numbers based on some

rules, while ________________refer elements of a given sequence.
G. Generalization/Abstraction
A given sequence is _______________ if both 1st and last terms are
known, otherwise it is _______________ . The three dots(…) is called
