Introduction To I.o.T
In many definitions of Internet of things (IoT), following are most common:

 The interconnection via the Internet of computing devices embedded in everyday objects,
enabling them to send and receive data.

 IoT is a recent communication paradigm that envisions a near future, in which the
objects of everyday life will be equipped with microcontrollers, transceivers for digital
communication, and suitable protocol stacks that will make them able to communicate
with one another and with the users, becoming an integral part of the Internet.

 IoT is a network in which all physical objects are connected to the internet through
network devices or routers and exchange data.

IoT allows objects to be controlled remotely across existing network infrastructure. IoT is a
very good and intelligent technique which reduces human effort as well as easy access to
physical devices. This technique also has autonomous control feature by which any device can
control without any human interaction.Today, Internet application development demand is very
high. So IoT is a major technology by which we can produce various useful internet
applications.

“Things” in the IoT sense, is the mixture of hardware, software, data, and services. “Things”
can refer to a wide variety of devices such as DNA analysis devices for environmental
monitoring, electric clamps in coastal waters, Arduino chips in home automation and many
other. These devices gather useful data with the help of various existing technologies and share
that data between other devices. Examples include Home Automation System which uses Wi-Fi
or Bluetooth for exchange data between various devices of home.

If we ask our self how IoT system work, the answer is an IoT system consists of
sensors/devices which “talk” to the cloud through some kind of connectivity. Once the data
gets to the cloud, software processes it and then might decide to perform an action, such as
sending an alert or automatically adjusting the sensors/devices without the need for the user.
I.O.T Applications

How Mechatronics And I.O.T Realted And Their Appliacation

Mechatronics or multidisciplinary field of mechatronics basically combines mechanical and
electrical engineering and control, but also involve other aspects of engineering such as:
computing, sensing and networking. The term mechatronics, introduced in the late 1960s by
Japan's Yaskawa Electric Company, was derived from the observation of the synergy achieved
through the integration of mechanical and electronic technologies Yaskawa, subsequently
released trademark rights to the name. Since then it has been used in education and industry
to describe systems derived from this heritage. As mechanical, electronic, and control systems
for a product is becoming more complex, a development environment needs much more
mechatronics knowledge. Also, another technology increases demand for mechatronics
knowledge - Internet of Things (IoT).
The overlap between mechatronics and IoT being in IoT is requiring the design of devices using
engineering skills and knowledge in multiple domains: electronics, mechanics, control
systems, computers, software, telecommunications, transportations, logistics, etc. In other
words, Mechatronics is essential part of the IoT.In the fllowing is some of the applications:

 In Industry :

similar technology in connectivity, control and automation are found throughout industrial
applications, including motion. Internet enabled machines can deliver new levels of flexibility,
performance and cost advantages. The old way of addressing machine integration and motion
control focused on basic engineering disciplines—mechanical and electrical—with each
dedicated engineering group working independently. Mechanical engineering would work on the
physical motion created, such as the bearings, rails, drive mechanisms and how to connect to a
motor. Electrical engineering would select the sensors and connect the I/O, driver, PLC,
controller, amplifier and power supply. Selection of the motor would, most often, be left to the
electricians because it had to be connected to power and controlled. With the rise of
mechatronics, a new model has emerged that simplifies the machine design and build process
while easily enabling Internet integration with the use of smart robot modules. This marriage of
mechanical and electrical disciplines, leveraging optimized motion elements and smart stepper
or step-servo closed-loop motor technology with integrated controls, can be applied to
single-axis, multi-axis or XYZ Cartesian configurations.
 In Health:

Robot Assisted Surgery Based on IoT, when a controllable robotic arm via the use of the
Internet of Things (IoT). A nurse could control the robotic arm in a hospital to assist a doctor
during a surgery and take care of the patient with the picking and placing tasks using the
robotic arm. In this system, a smart phone will be used to control the robotic arm.By
integrating the Internet of Things (IoT), a worldwide controllable robotic arm is achieved.
 In Security Policy Field:

cyber attacks in mechatronics systems based on IoT. The government organisations, different
industries, healthcare systems and individual users are using these systems to store different
kind of public, private, confidential and classified information. This is attracting cyber
attackers to make cyber and cyber physical attacks to these systems. Currently, security policy
researchers of both industries and academic institutes are analysing existing cyber attacks and
are developing different types of techniques to protect the systems against potential
cyber-threats and cyber attacks. As a result it causes increasing exploitation of IoT based
mechatronics system, which has created more opportunities for the current cybercrimes.
 In Agriculture:

and mechatronics In Precision Agriculture we typically use mechatronic systems to monitor

each sub-process,and to control them. These sub-systems are often interconnected. These
connections are frequently made by IoT.

Benefits of Internet Enabled Mechatronics

1. Lower cost and better function

Each component must have a positive impact on the financial bottom line. Less wiring and
connectors, fewer components and sensors, less labor invested, reduced time spent in setup
and maintenance and maximized operational uptime all substantially reduce the overall cost of
ownership and operation.

2. Less space

By building the driver, controller and amplifier into a smart motor, less panel space is needed,
which saves material, time, labor and overall cost.

3. Simplified wiring

Combining the driver, controller and amplifier means fewer sensors are needed, especially
when an encoder is used, fewer I/O connections, and a less complicated wiring schemes.

4. Reduced troubleshooting

With fewer components and less wire connections, the job of tracing down problems that may
arise is greatly reduced.

5. Streamlined commissioning

Machine installation and start up is made easier with pre-programmed homing routines and
with the ability to make changes at an individual axis without working through the PLC. This
distributed control model frees the installation team to work on multiple axes simultaneously,
and report progress through Internet connectivity. It also allows an operator to make
in-process adjustments at an individual axis without affecting the PLC or entire production
line.Benefits of IoT Enabled Mechatronics.

6. Modular integration

Standardized smart robot modules make integration into multiple axes or multiple machines a
natural and easy process.

7. Automated adjustment

Switching a packaging or assembly line to a different size or part can become automated and
“recipe driven,” increasing manufacturing flexibility and speed. Such adjustments eliminate
time consuming manual changes.

8. Maximized uptime

Real-time monitoring of temperatures, friction, motor torque and other performance related
data can be routed to a mobile device allowing operators, maintenance or engineers to
proactively handle issues related to maximizing machine uptime.

9. Preventative maintenance

Established time frames for periodic maintenance based on cycles, number of pieces run or
other dynamic conditions can easily be monitored and reported to any IoT connected device,
such as a work station, tablet or mobile phone, allowing teams to proactively keep equipment
running at peak efficiency.

10. Increased output

All of these things are working together in an IoT connected motion system, driving greater
flexibility, less downtime, increased performance and greater bottom line output for
manufacturers, assembly lines, packaging equipment and production equipment.

4th Industrial Revolution:Mechatronics And IoT

The Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0 comes from the German term 'Industrie 4.0'. It
was first used in a project in the high-tech strategy to transform German manufacturing in
which the Internet of Things and cyber-physical systems took center stage, along with a further
focus on production, people, environment and security.

This primarily focuses on the use of large-scale machine to machine communication (M2M) and
Internet of Things (IoT) deployments to provide increased automation, improved
communication and self-monitoring, as well as smart machines that can analyze and diagnose
issues without the need for human intervention.

In the same time Mechatronic machine design will simplify and enhance operations, driving
Industrie 4.0 initiatives forward.

Understanding the role of mechatronic motion control is key to successful Industrie 4.0
initiatives. In manufacturing, packaging, logistics, and material handling, automation and
digital technologies must satisfy multiple goals, from improving operational efficiency and
performance to scalability.

Managing complexity is at the core of mechatronic machine design, accounting for numerous
engineering functions required to implement IoT initiatives.
Conclusion
The Internet is one of greatest innovation of the late 20th century. The development of the
Internet has resulted in a radical expansion and transformation of many processes in
manufacturing, service industry, e-commerce, transportation ... Connection of identification
technology . Also, this connection has a big influence on Mechatronics, especially in education
of mechatronics engineers and the mechatronics design process. Therefore, many challenges
are in front of Mechatronics. The successful resolution of these challenges enables further
