2. (a) I think of a number, halve it and then subtract 1 from it. The result is double the amount
obtained by dividing the number by 3 and subtracting 4 from it. Find the number.

(b) Ali earns $960 a month and Ahmad earns $1440 a month. How many months must Ali
work to earn as much as Ahmad does in 6 months?

5. (a) Find the area of the shaded part in the figure below. If the
figure represents the cross-section of a solid whose height is
