Pony Bead Butterfly
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Paint a spring clothespin and add any details such as stripes or dots. Let dry.
Step 2 Start with a chenille pipe cleaner and thread on 36 pony beads.
Step 3 To make the wings, thread on 15 beads onto one end for the smaller loop and 21 beads for the larger loop.
Twist the ends between the beads to create on wing of the butterfly. Repeat the same thing for the other wing, then
connect the two wings together by twisting the ends of the chenille pipe cleaners together.
Step 4 Open the clothespin and insert the butterfly wings, then let the clothespin close around the center.
Step 5 Cut two small pieces of a chenille pipe cleaner for an antennae and glue to the top of the clothespin.
Yarn Monster Pencil Topper

Supplies
• Yarn • Paintbrush

Directions:
Step 1 Wrap some of the yarn around your hand about 20 times. Carefully slide the looped yarn off your hand,
then tie a piece of yarn around the middle of the entire bundle of loops. Cut open all the loops.
Step 2 ADULT: Hot glue the center of the yarn to the eraser of the pencil. Smooth the yarn down around the pencil.
Step 3 Use school glue to attach the wiggle eyes onto the front of your yarn monster. Let dry.
Step 4 C ut out a mouth (and/or other details) from construction paper and glue onto your monster.
Step 5 Add additional details to the mouth and other details using markers.

Craft Stick Lemonade Stand

Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Paint six craft sticks yellow and let dry.
Step 2 Lay out four of the craft sticks in a square to make your lemonade stand shape. Glue them in place. Now,
add two more craft sticks horizontally above the bottom stick to create the front of the lemonade stand. Let dry.
Step 3 Cut five small triangles from construction paper to make a banner for the front of the stand.
Glue them onto the front of your lemonade stand. Let dry.
Step 4 Make a sign for you lemonade stand using markers and construction paper. Cut it out and glue it to
the top of the lemonade stand. Let dry.
Secret Code Necklace

Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Print the Binary Codes template (you can even create your own code!) to spell out your name, using
colored beads.
Step 2 Cut a piece of yarn about 12”-15” long and thread on your beads. Tie a knot to secure the necklace.

Mama and Baby Pom-Pom Birds
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Print, cut out and trace the nest template, two times, onto brown construction paper and cut out the shapes.
Step 2 Decorate the front of the nest with markers, or cut small strips of paper and yarn to glue onto the nest.
Step 3 Trace the bird’s beak onto orange construction paper. Cut out the shapes.
Step 4 Choose one large and two small pom-poms for your birds. Glue the beaks to the center of one side
of each pom-pom, using school glue. Now glue wiggle eyes above the beaks onto each of the pom-poms.
Step 6 Glue the edge of the rounded part of the two nest pieces together with a glue stick, but leave the straight
part across the top open. Let the glue set for a few minutes.
Step 7 Position the pom-pom birds in the nest, then glue them into place. Let dry.
Step 8 Cut a piece of yarn, about 6” long, and glue each end to the back of each end of the nest to create a hanger.
Sun Catcher
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Cut five 12” pieces of yarn, then tie them onto the wood stick.
Step 2 String the translucent beads onto the yarn and tie a knot around the last bead. Vary the lengths if you’d like.
Step 3 Measure and cut a piece of yarn about 20” and tie the ends to each end of the stick to make a hanger.
Butterfly Puppet Garden

Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Print the template and cut out the shapes. Trace the butterfly onto mixed media paper, then
color the butterfly using markers.
Step 2 Glue the butterfly to the end of a craft stick. Set aside to dry.
Step 3 Draw flowers leaves and grass on a piece of colored construction paper.
Step 4 ADULT: Cut a 3” slit about a third of the way from the bottom of the construction paper
Step 5 Insert the butterfly puppet through the slit and make your butterfly puppet fly around!

Woven Turtle
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Color three craft sticks green using markers..
Step 2 ADULT: Lay two of the sticks in an “X” and add a small dot of hot glue to hold them together.
Glue the third craft stick vertically down the center of the “X” and glue it in place.
Step 3 To begin weaving the yarn around the sticks, tie one end of the yarn around the center of the “X”.
Now, go around the sticks in a circle with the yarn. Work it around each stick. When finished wrapping,
tie the yarn in a knot and then trim the ends close.
Step 4 Glue two small wiggle eyes to the head, then add details to the legs and tail using a black marker.
TIP: If you have buttons, gems, sequins or pom poms, you can glue one to the center of your turtle!
Clothespin Alligator
Supplies
• Clothespins • Wiggle Eyes

• Chenille pipe cleaners • Markers

Directions:
Step 1 Paint the clothespin green and let dry.
Step 2 Cut a piece of paper to 3/8” by 8½”. Fold it in an accordion fold every ½”.
TIP: An accordion fold is made by folding the paper back and forth in ½” increments to create the alligator’s spiny back.
You might not need the whole length.
Step 3 Add glue from the wire part of the clothespin all the way to the end (where you pinch to open the clothespin).
Step 4 Place the folded piece of paper down the clothespin on the glue to create the spiny back. Cut off extra paper.
Step 5 Draw a tongue and nostrils onto your alligator’s face with markers and glue on wiggle eyes. Let dry.
Paper Tribal Mask

Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Cut out a face shape from recycled cardboard and paint any color you’d like. Let dry.
TIP: This can be any design you choose.
Step 2 Use construction paper to build hair, eyes, nose and a mouth on the mask. Use a glue stick to attach.
Step 3 To create hair, cut strips of construction paper, and bend the paper back and forth like an accordion. 4
Step 4 Use markers to add additional details to your mask.
Hanging Sloth
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Print, cut out and trace the patterns onto construction paper and cut out.
Step 2 Paint a sky background onto a piece of mixed media paper.
Step 3 Take a sheet of brown construction paper and cut (or tear) it down the long side of the paper into 2” wide
strips, then twist them so they look like vines.
Step 4 Use a glue stick to attach a vine across the width of the paper, then attach the other vines so they appear
to be hanging down.
TIP: Hold the vines in place for a few minutes until the glue dries.
Step 5 Use a glue stick to attach the sloth pieces together and use liquid glue to attach the wiggle eyes. Let dry.
Step 6 Use a glue stick to attach the feet of the sloth to the end of a vine, so your sloth is loosely hanging. Let dry.
Step 7 Use a marker to create veins and detail to the green paper leaves, then attach the leaves to the vines with
liquid glue. Let dry.
Russian Matryoska Paper Dolls

Supplies
• Mixed Media Paper • Age Appropriate Scissors

Directions:
Step 1 Print and cut out the template. Do not cut the dolls apart. The dotted lines are for folding later.
Step 2 Trace the doll pattern onto a piece of mixed media paper and cut out.
Step 3 Trace the circle patterns onto the doll cutout in place for each of the doll faces, then use a
pencil to draw faces and clothing designs onto each of the dolls.
TIP: Each doll can have a different pattern on her clothing.
Step 5 Use markers to color in the designs.
Step 6 Bend the dolls back and forth along the dotted line between each of the dolls so that they will stand up.
Painted Pet Rocks

Supplies
• Rocks from outside

Directions:
Step 1 Use paint to coat the rock in desired color. Be sure to let the paint dry between coats.
Step 2 Create a face and body by attaching wiggle eyes to the rock with glue. Let dry.

Aboriginal Dot Handprint
Supplies
• Paintbrushes

Directions:
Step 1 Paint your mixed media paper a solid color (or you can leave it white).
TIP: If you chose to paint it, set it aside to dry before moving onto the next step.
Step 2 Using a pencil, lightly trace the outline of your hand onto the center of the paper.
Step 3 Paint your traced hand any color of your choice. Let dry.
Step 4 Select 3-4 colors of paint and use the eraser end of a new pencil to create dots around the outline of
your hand. Let dry.
TIP: To make the dots, dip the eraser into paint and then dab it onto the canvas. Continue doing this, in rows
around the outline until you cover the canvas.
Paper Tube Unicorn

Supplies
• Construction Paper • Markers
• Yarn • Pencil

Directions:
Step 1 Paint the paper tube and let dry.
Step 2 Draw and cut two small ears out of construction paper to match the tube.
Step 3 Draw and cut a pointy triangle, as short or as tall as you like, to create the unicorn horn. Set these pieces
aside.
Step 4 To make the mane, wrap yarn around three fingers 5-7 times and then cut the end. Carefully slide the yarn
from your fingers. Cut a small strip of yarn to tie around the center of the yarn loops. Once the loop has been
cinched and tied in the middle, cut both ends. This creates bangs and a mane.
Step 5 To make the tail, wrap yarn around all four fingers on your hand 10 times and cut the end. This creates an-
other, larger loop. Cut the ends free on the loop. Tie a knot on one end of the loop.
Step 6 On the back side of the unicorn tube, take your scissors and cut a 2” slit from the bottom. Slide the knot up
the slit so that the knot is inside the tube and the tail is hanging on the outside of the tube.
Step 7 Use a glue stick to attach the ears to the front of the unicorn and the cheeks to the face.
Step 8 Draw on pink cheeks and eyelashes with a marker.
Step 9 Next, use liquid glue to attach the bangs/mane to the top of the tube. The bangs should extend over the
top of the tube and the mane over the back. Concentrate the glue on the craft tube in those areas. Hold the mane
in place until dry.
Step 10 Now, cut a small curve on the bottom of your horn and attach to the top of the mane using Elmer’s®
school glue. Let dry.

Friendship Bracelets
Supplies
• Yarn
• Pony Beads
• Tape
Directions:
Step 1 Measure and cut 72” 4 pieces of yarn.
Step 2 To make your looped starting end:
Gather the strands together and align the ends so they are all even; then fold the strands in half.
Tie an overhand knot with all of the strands together about 1” below the fold.
Step 3 Tape the loop to your work space, above the knot.
Step 4 Slide a pony bead onto all strands and push it up to the knot.
Step 5 Separate the strands and lay them out in front of you.
Step 6 Pick up the outer strand on the left and knot it twice on each strand until you reach the far right.
Set this strand down next to the last strand on the right.
Step 7 Now, pick up the strand that is now the outer one on the left and repeat Step 6.
Step 8 Repeat Step 7 for about 1½”. Tie an overhand knot with all of the strands together, slide on a
pony bead and then tie another overhand knot.
Step 9 Repeat Step 8 for two more 1½” sections.
Step 10 Cut the yarn about an inch from the last knot.
Step 11 Carefully remove the tape from the beginning looped end.
TIP: Slide the last pony bead through the loops at the beginning to clasp the bracelet to your wrist.
Mixed Media Shark Craft

Supplies
• Wiggle Eyes • Paintbrusheses
Directions:
Step 1 Paint a sheet of mixed media paper light blue, or a background color of your choosing. Let dry.
Step 2 Cut out a shark shape from paper or paint one over the background. If you cut one out, use the
glue stick to adhere it onto the background.
Step 3 Cut out triangles from white paper for teeth and glue them to the shark’s mouth.
Step 4 Paint waves across the bottom, but over the shark.
Step 5 Glue wiggle eyes onto the shark.

Fingerprint Bug Art
Supplies
• Paintbrushes
Directions:
Step 1 Print the template then cut out the leaf pattern and trace the leaf pattern on the mixed media paper.
Step 2 Paint the leaf green and the background blue. Let dry.
Step 3 Pour small amounts of red, black, yellow and brown paint onto a paper plate. Dip a finger into the paint,
then press it onto the leaf to create a bug. Wipe off fingers when changing colors. Let the paint dry completely.
TIP: Different fingerprints can create different bugs. A red fingerprint could be a ladybug, three fingerprints in a
row could be a caterpillar, etc.
Step 4 Add details (such as dots, antennae, legs, etc.) to the bugs, using markers.
Paper Flower Art

Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Print and cut out the patterns.
Step 2 Choose three colors of construction paper. Trace the larger circle pattern two times onto each color and
the small circle once on a fourth color. Cut out the circles.
Step 3 Fold the circles in half.
Step 4 Cut a piece of mixed media paper in half so that it is 6” x 9”. Find the middle of the top third of the
sheet. This is where you will build the flower.
Step 5 Lay the six folded circles in a circle around a center point and glue them into place to form a flower.
Step 6 Glue the smaller circle in the center of the petals.
Step 7 Use the markers to draw a stem and leaves.

Kawaii Cactus
Supplies
• Markers

Directions:
Step 1 Print and cut out the template.
Step 2 Lay the pattern on the mixed media paper and trace around it.
Step 3 Paint the cactus green, the background light blue and the pot brown. Let dry.
Step 4 Paint the flower and cheeks pink.
Step 5 Following the pattern as a guide, use a black marker to draw the face onto the cactus. Also, draw cactus
needles around the cactus, using short lines coming out of the cactus.
Step 6 Add white dots to the background. To make the dots, simply dip the non-brush end of a paintbrush into
white paint and press down onto the background of the canvas. Let dry.
Paper Puppet on a String

Supplies
• Wiggle Eyes • Age Appropriate Scissors
• Yarn • Hole Punch
• Chenille Pipe Cleaners • Tape
• Craft Sticks • Toilet Paper or Paper Towel Tube
Directions:
Step 1 Lay craft sticks in a “X” formation and glue in place at the cross-section. Set aside to dry.
Step 2 Print the template, then trace the head and tail shapes onto construction paper, or for use mixed media
paper for a sturdier animal. You can color it with paint or markers.
Step 3 Use markers to add details to the face of the deer and glue a wiggle eye to each side. Set aside to dry.
TIP: Use the project image as a guide.
Step 4 ADULT: Use the hand punch to punch holes at the top left and top right of the tube - which is the
front and the back of the animal.
Step 5 Make a small slit on the top, front of the tube to insert the head into. Make a small slit at the opposite end
to insert the tail. Use tape of glue to help hold them in place.
Step 6 Fold two chenille pipe cleaners in half for the four legs and bend a small section at the folded end
for each foot.
Step 7 Make a slit in the tube where the legs should go and slide the folded end of the chenille pipe cleaner
into the slit.
Step 8 Cut two 12” pieces of yarn.
Step 9 Slide one piece of yarn through the front hole on the tube, and tie a knot. Repeat with the second yarn
piece in the second hole on the tube.
Step 10 Tie the other end of the yarn to one of the craft sticks you made into an “X” in Step 1.
Tie both pieces of yarn to the same stick, but on opposite sides of the cross-section of the “X”. 9
Paper Crafted God’s Eye
Supplies
• Yarn • Glue
• Markers • Ruler
Directions:
Step 2 Color the two craft sticks with a marker, and glue them together at the center, forming a + shape.
Set aside to dry.
Step 3 Cut out all the pattern pieces. Trace all the square patterns onto a variety of color paper, and cut them out.
Step 4 Use a marker to draw a square border around the outside edge of each colored square. Then draw
a second square inside the first. Leave a little space between the edge of the piece and the first square,
as well as in between the two drawn squares.
TIP: Use the side of a craft stick as a straight edge.
Step 5 Glue the squares on top of each other. Start with the largest at the bottom and layer each one in
descending order by size, ending with the smallest on top.
Step 6 Glue the squares to the colored craft sticks at a diagonal, so that the point of each square is aligned with
the end of each craft stick.
Step 7 Tie yarn to the bottom craft stick to make fringe.
Paper Summer Journal

Supplies
• Markers • Hole Punch (Adult Use Only)
• Yarn
Directions:
Step 1 Fold a piece of mixed media paper in half. Glue colored construction paper to the front.
Step 2 Decorate the cover, using markers.
Step 3 Take three sheets of construction paper and fold them in half. Insert them into your journal cover.
Step 4 ADULT: Use the hole punch to punch a hole at the top and bottom of the journal, through all of the
layers of paper, on the fold. The holes should be about 1” from the top and bottom.
Step 5 Thread yarn through the holes, wrap twice around the journal and tie in a knot on the outside
spine of the journal.
Step 6 If desired, make a tassel, wrapping the yarn 10 times around the palm of your hand. While the yarn is still
wrapped on your hand, loop a 6” piece of yarn through the top end of the wrapped yarn, then gently slide the
wrapped yarn off of your hand, keeping it as still as possible. Tightly knot the 6” length of yarn at the end of the
wrapped yarn, then cut open the loops at the opposite end with scissors. Cut one more piece of yarn in the
same color, about 12” long, and wrap it several times around the yarn, about 1” below the knot at its top.
Knot this piece and trim away any excess. Tie onto the outside of the journal. 10
Woodland Critters Stick Puppets
Supplies

Directions:
Step 2 Trace pattern pieces onto appropriate colored construction paper with a pencil, and cut out the shapes.
Step 3 Assemble the woodland critters, and use glue stick to attach the pieces. Let dry.
Step 4 Draw on some details using markers.
Step 5 Glue the woodland critters to the end of a craft stick to complete your puppets. Let dry.
Craft Stick Birdhouse

Supplies
• Construction Paper • Chenille Pipe Cleaners
• Craft Sticks
Directions:
Step 1 Lay 12 craft sticks side-by-side, vertically, on your work surface. Make sure that all the long edges of the
sticks are touching. Glue a craft stick horizontally across the vertical craft sticks, near their top edges. Glue a
second craft stick horizontally across the sticks, near their bottom edges. Make sure all the vertical craft sticks
are glued to the horizontal craft sticks. Let them dry.
Step 2 Cut a triangle shape out of construction paper for the roof.
Step 3 Decorate the roof using markers. Glue the construction paper roof onto the top of the craft stick house.
Step 4 Now, decorate the house itself using markers or any other crafty embellishments you may have.
You can make polka dots, like we did, or any kind of lines or shapes you want – it’s up to you. Don’t forget
to draw a nice entrance to the birdhouse for your little friend!
Step 5 Make a pom-pom bird. Pick a chenille pipe cleaner to make the beak, legs and tail feathers. We’ve
marked the measurements of each of these pieces on our template sheet, so use that to easily cut the lengths
you need.
Step 6 Cut a piece of chenille pipe cleaner for the beak and fold it in half. If you need to, you can trim it a little
shorter. Glue it to the pom-pom at its center front.
Step 7 Cut a chenille pipe cleaner 1” long for the legs. Bend a small foot at the end of each piece,
then glue both legs to the bottom of the pom-pom.
Step 8 Cut a chenille pipe cleaner 2” long for the tail feathers. Fold them in half and glue them to the back
of the pom-pom.
Step 9 Glue a small wiggle eye to one side of the bird near its beak. Set the pom-pom bird aside to dry.
Step 10 To make the perch, cut another chenille pipe cleaner 1½” long. Fold this piece in half, then bend the
ends out in opposite directions. Glue the ends to the front of the birdhouse so that the perch sticks straight out.
Step 11 Glue the pom-pom bird to the perch and let it dry.

3-D Kawaii Cactus
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Print the pattern and cut out.
Step 2 Trace the cactus patterns onto construction paper and cut out. Cut the slits on the dotted lines.
Step 3 Decorate the paper cactus with markers. Draw a cute kawaii face on the front.
Step 4 Slide the two pieces together by inserting one of the slits into the other.
Step 5 Glue pom-poms onto the cactus to represent cactus blossoms.
TIP If you want to create a pot to set the cactus in you can do so with Model Magic, Play Dough or even
a decorated clay pot with sand inside.
Sloth Craft Stick Puppet

Supplies
Directions:
Step 2 Use markers to decorate the craft stick to look like a piece of bamboo.
Step 3 Trace the two patterns onto two different colors of construction paper: one for the sloth’s body and one for
his face. Cut out shapes.
Step 4 Glue two wiggle eyes in place on the sloth’s face and draw additional facial features with markers. Let dry.
Step 5 Glue the sloth’s face onto the head portion of his body. Let dry.
Step 6 Add the sloth’s fingernails and toenails using a marker, and then glue the sloth to the craft stick. He will look
as if he is climbing the bamboo stick.
Silly Birds
Supplies
• Chenille Pipe Cleaners • Glue
• Pencil
Directions:
Step 1 Cut random shapes from construction paper to create a body, head, feathers and legs of your bird.
Step 2 Cut chenille pipe cleaners for the legs and bend to make feet. Glue them to the body of the bird.
Step 3 Glue on wiggle eyes.
Step 4 Add any further details to the bird such as eyelashes, hair, feathers, etc. 12
Paper Flower Bouquet
Supplies
• Chenille Pipe Cleaners • Glue
• Craft Sticks • Pencil
Directions:
Step 2 Trace your hand three times onto construction paper. Cut out all the hand shapes.
Step 3 Trace the container shape onto construction paper and cut out.
Step 4 To make the container, fold the construction paper over 1½” on top. Next, roll the paper into a tube and
glue the ends closed, with the fold exposed around the outside of the container. Let glue dry.
TIP: For best results when gluing, hold the ends together for at least 60 seconds.
Step 5 Roll the paper hands into a tube. Slide the bottom of the hand over a craft stick and glue edges
together. Make sure to hold the glued areas together for at least 60 seconds. Repeat for all the hand flowers.
Let glue dry. Use the project image as a guide.
Step 6 Wrap a chenille pipe cleaner two times around the area where the “hand” is glued to the craft stick.
With the remaining chenille pipe cleaner, bend it into a leaf shape and twist the end to keep it in place. Repeat
for all the hand flowers.
Step 7 Glue a pom-pom into the “palm” of all the hand flowers. Let dry.
Step 8 Gently bend the fingers of the hand flowers back, making a soft curve. This helps the hands
resemble flowers.
Step 9 Glue the ends of the craft stick to the inside of the container. Make sure to space evenly around the
container for balance.
Kindness Rainbow
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Print the pattern and cut out shapes.
Step 2 Trace and cut out the curved rainbow patterns and attach, using a glue stick. The color order is,
largest to smallest: red (base) and then orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
Step 3 Trace and cut out two clouds from white construction paper.
Step 4 Use a glue stick to attach the clouds to the ends of the rainbow.
Step 5 Trace and cut out eight raindrops from the same colors you used for the rainbow.
Step 6 Using a marker, write words of kindness (or positive characteristics) onto the raindrops.
TIP: Words such as joy, peace, love, good, kind and/or honest are just a few examples.
Step 7 Cut six strands of yarn to hang from the rainbow in varying lengths.
Step 8 Use clear tape to attach the droplets to the strands of yarn. Make sure they are all facing forward and
tape yarn to the back of the droplet. Next, attach the strands to the back of the rainbow.
Step 9 To complete the rainbow, outline the clouds with glue.

Glue Dough Critter
Supplies Dough Quantities Needed:
• Craft Sticks 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
• Wiggle Eyes 1 Cup Corn Starch
• Chenille Pipe Cleaners 2 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil
• Pony Beads 1 7.625 bottle of Elmer’s® White
• Glue Washable School Glue
• Food Coloring (home)
Directions:
Step 1 Start with the dry ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, combine one cup of all-purpose flour with one cup of
cornstarch. Mix these dry ingredients with a jumbo craft stick (or even with your hand).
Step 2 Now, add the wet ingredients. Pour in one bottle of glue, then add two tablespoons of vegetable oil. If
you’d like the entire batch of glue dough to be the same color, add food coloring now.
TIP: Dip a craft stick into the food coloring container, then use it to stir the mixture in the bowl. Always use a new,
clean craft stick when dipping into your food coloring in order to avoid cross-contamination.
Step 3 At this point, the mixture in your bowl is going to look like a bit of a mess. Don’t worry, just mix thoroughly
to combine the wet and dry ingredients as much as you can with a craft stick.
Step 4 Check out that glue dough! It looks terrible, but that’s completely normal. Sprinkle some cornstarch on
your hands. This will help to keep the glue dough mixture from sticking to your hands.
TIP: If you’d like to keep the “goop” away from your hands, you can put on gloves for this part.
Step 5 Mix with your hands. Once you have a big handful of glue dough, press it into the bottom of the bowl to
pick up any dry powder left there, then keep mixing and kneading with your hands. You can add a sprinkle of flour
or cornstarch if you feel like the dough is too sticky. The glue dough will be ready when it’s completely smooth
and not very sticky.
Step 6 If you’d like to make different colors from this batch, now’s the time to do it. Divide the dough into smaller
sections. One section at a time, flatten out the glue dough, then wipe it with a craft stick dipped in food coloring.
Fold the edges of the glue dough over the food coloring, and knead until it’s completely blended and even.
Repeat this step to add different colors to the other sections of glue dough.
TIP: This is also a great time to use vinyl gloves, if you’d like to keep the food coloring from staining your hands.
Step 7 Shape your glue dough into a caterpillar, a bug, a llama or any other kind of critter that strikes your fancy.
Use chenille pipe cleaners to create legs, wings or antennae, wiggle eyes so that they can stare back at you, and
pony beads for extra glittery fun.
Step 8 If you have leftover glue dough, you can store it in an airtight container (or re-sealable bag) for up to
two weeks.
Project Notes:
• Always wash your hands thoroughly before and after making and playing with glue dough.
• Glue dough may look like regular dough, but it definitely is not edible. Never try to eat it.
• Adults, please supervise little ones who are playing with glue dough and be aware that this project is not
appropriate for children under the age of three years.
• Glue dough play clay can be molded into shapes and hardened. If you’d like to keep your glue dough work
of art, let it dry at room temperature for several days.
• When making glue dough, protect your work surface with wax (or palette) paper. You also may want to
wear an apron (or other protective garment) to avoid glue dough related accidents.

Give-a-Hug
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Draw a heart shape and cut out of red construction paper.
Step 2 Outline the edge of the heart with a marker.
Step 3 Bend the heart so that the two bumps on the top are touching the point on the bottom.
Cut two small, vertical slits for threading the yarn.
Step 4 Using a pencil, trace both of your hands onto a piece of purple construction paper, or color of choice.
Step 5 Cut out both hand shapes and outline the edges with a marker.
Step 6 Cut two strands of yarn about 24” long.
Step 7 Line up the yarn strands so they are even and slide the strands of yarn through the slits in the yarn.
Slide the heart to the center of the yarn.
Step 8 String colorful pony beads onto the yarn on either side of the heart. Spread out evenly, or as desired.
Step 9 Knot both ends of the yarn and tape onto the back of the paper hands.
Step 10 Send a hug to a loved one.
Woven Craft Stick Butterfly

Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Lay your craft sticks in an “X”, holding with one hand. Wind the yarn around the center of the “X”, both
ways, about 5 times, so that it holds the craft sticks in place.
Step 2 Continue with that same piece of yarn and wind over and under the craft sticks (butterfly wing) on one
side in a figure eight motion until the weaving comes close to the end of the craft sticks. Cut the yarn leaving a 2”
tail. Work the tail into the bottom of the weaving to secure. Repeat this same step for the other wing.
Step 3 To make the body and antennae, take a chenille pipe cleaner and fold it in half. Insert the butterfly in be-
tween the chenille pipe cleaner halves, with the opening at the top. Leave about 1 -1½” at the bottom. Twist the
bottom a few times just under the center “X” of the butterfly to secure, and then twist the top a few times just
above the “X”.
Step 4 Thread two pony beads onto the bottom of the chenille pipe cleaner and slide them over the twist made
under the center “X” of the butterfly. Thread one pony bead to the top of the chenille pipe cleaner and slide it over
the twist made above the “X”.
Step 5 Curl the top chenille pipe cleaner to create the antennae.

Friendship Bracelet

Directions:
Step 1 Measure and cut nine 60” lengths. Use a piece of household tape and a marker to label three strands A, three
stands B and three strands C, for a total of nine 60” lengths.
Step 2 Gather yarn together and tie a small loop at one end. Pull knot tight to secure. The other end will have the
color coded tape.
Step 3 Separate the yarn into three sections. A labeled on the right, C labeled in the center and B labeled on the left.
Step 4 Use a small piece of tape to tape the loop down onto your work surface. Place another length of tape about
9” from the top loop to hold the C labeled center yarn stands together on the work surface. This will keep the yarn
from moving while knotting. The right side and left yarn strands are the “working” strands that will do all the
knotting, while the center yarn strand or “anchor” strands hold the bracelet together and keep the knots
anchored together.
TIP: Use a clipboard instead of masking tape if available.
Step 5 To start the knotting process, place the A labeled (right) strands perpendicular under the C labeled
anchor strands and over the top of the B labeled strands.
Step 6 Place the B labeled strands over the top of the C labeled strands and then under the A labeled strands.
Pull the B labeled and A labeled strands from the bottom to form a knot at the top.
Step 7 To create a twist, continue the knotting process using the same side of strands (the right side) as the lead
“working” strands. Soon the yarn will begin to twist. By only knotting on one side, the twist will start to form.
Step 8 Once you have several inches in length of twist knots, hold the bracelet up to your wrist to measure the
length. Continue to knot until desired length is achieved.
Step 9 Leave a 1½” tail at each end and tie a double knot to secure strands. Trim excess yarn with scissors. Loop
double knot through loop to wear.
3-D Spring Art

Directions:
Step 1 Print the pattern and cut out shapes, then trace the patterns onto construction paper. Cut out.
Step 2 Apply a layer of paint on your mixed media paper. Set paper aside to dry 10 minutes.
Step 3 Cut circles in different colors and sizes for flowers. You will layer the circles to create blooms. Set aside.
Step 4 Fold a sheet of green construction paper in half and cut petal shapes along the fold.
Step 5 Glue the grass along the bottom of the mixed media paper and the sun and clouds at the top.
Step 6 Create as many flower blooms as desired and glue them to the paper.
Step 7 Apply glue to the back of the petals and glue two petals together to create a dimensional flower stem
under each bloom.
Step 8 Use your fingertip dipped in paint to create small raindrops. 16
Pony Bead Bracelet

Step 1 Choose the colors of beads for your bracelet.
Step 2 Cut a piece of yarn 12 inches long.
Step 3 Thread on enough beads to wrap around your wrist.
Step 4 Tie a knot around the last bead on both ends.
Step 5 Have an adult tie the bracelet around your wrist with a bow.
Clothespin Birds
Supplies
Directions:
Step 1 Paint clothespins with craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat if desired.
Step 2 Decorate each clothespin by painting stripes, dots, etc., making each one unique. Let dry.
Step 3 Glue 2 small wiggle eyes, side by side, near the top of each clothespin.
Step 4 Cut out feather shapes from construction paper and cut slits all around it to make it look like a feather.
Glue to the back top of the clothespin. An alternative is to use 2-3 real feathers.
Step 5 Cut a tiny triangle out of orange construction paper for a beak and glue this under the eyes. Let dry.
Cubism Portrait

Directions:
Step 1 Draw on the mixed media paper with pencil, dividing the canvas into 5 random segments. Paint each
segment using craft paint and set aside to dry.
Step 2 Using construction paper cut a larger shape for the head. Cut a rectangle for the neck. Cut shapes for hair,
eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Keep the shapes simple and geometric and stick them onto the face in an abstract
fashion. Think of Picasso’s style, where things are not always necessarily where they should be. Stick all the
pieces onto the painted mixed media paper.
Step 3 Draw the eyeballs onto the eyes, using the marker. 17
Paper-Crafted Forest
Supplies

Directions:
Step 2 Trace the tree tops onto assorted green construction paper and cut out.
TIP: Use your creativity by coloring some and drawing leaves on some for your forest.
Step 3 Trace the tree trunks onto brown construction paper and cut out. Roll each piece into a tube and tape or
glue together. Cut 2 vertical slits on opposite sides of the top of the trunk. The slits should go about 1” down the
trunk. Slide the tree tops into the slits on the trunks to create your trees.
Step 4 To make the mushrooms, trace around the patterns for the tops on red construction paper and the stems
on white construction paper. Cut out. Roll the white stem pieces into a tube and tape together. Cut 2 vertical slits
on opposite sides of the top of the mushroom stem. The slits should go about ½” down the stem.
Step 5 Paint white dots on the mushroom tops and let dry. Slide the mushroom tops onto the stems.
3-D Woodland Forest Scene

Directions:
Step 2 Glue blue construction paper to a piece of mixed media paper making the sky.
Step 3 Cut a 4”x12” piece of green construction paper for grass and glue it to the background.
Step 4 Trace and cut 6 identical white cloud shapes. Fold each one in half, horizontally.
Step 5 Glue one side of a folded cloud and attach it to another folded side of a half cloud, making sure to line
the spines up as well as the outer part of the cloud. Repeat with a third cloud on the other side of the first cloud.
Repeat Step 5 with the remaining three clouds and glue the 3D clouds to the background.
Step 6 Trace and cut out the tree trunk from brown construction paper. Glue it to the mixed media paper.
Step 7 Trace and cut 3 tree tops from green construction paper. Repeat the concept in Step 5. Glue the finished
3D tree tops to the tree trunks.
Step 8 Trace and cut 6 mushroom tops and 2 stem pieces. Glue the stems in the grass and repeat the concept in
Step 5 for each of the mushroom tops. Glue the mushroom tops over the stems.
Step 9 Trace and cut a bunny from tan construction paper, and 3 bunny tail pieces. Glue the bunny standing in the
grass and repeat the concept in step 5 for the bunny tail. Glue the 3D tail to the bunny.
Step 10 Glue wiggle eyes to bunny.

Clothespin Pterodactyl

Directions:
Step 2 Fold a sheet of construction paper in half.
Step 3 Place the fold of the paper where indicated on the template. Trace and cut out. Set aside.
Step 4 Color the clothespin with the same color marker as the construction paper used for the wings and body.
Step 5 Trace and cut out the oblong head crest from the same color construction paper as the wings and body.
Step 6 Line up the straight end of the head crest to the end of the clothespin that opens. Glue across the top
of the clothespin up to the ridge, and then fold back. Use image as a guide.
Step 7 Unfold the body and wings that were set aside in Step 3. Pinch open the clothespin. Place the body
and wings inside along the center fold and close the clothespin. The feet should stick out from the back
of the clothespin.
Step 8 Glue a wiggle eye on each side of the clothespin, as shown. Let dry.
Treasure Map

Step 1 Begin with a sheet of construction paper to create your map. Using the markers, draw a map to find
a treasure. Use the image as a guide, or create your own adventure.
Step 2 Once you have your map drawn and colored, cut in a jagged design around the outer edge of the
paper to represent an old, weathered map.
Step 3 Scrunch up the map into a ball, then smooth out with your hands.

Craft Stick Birds
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Cut a 2½” x 2½” piece of recycled cardboard. Lay it flat on your work surface and cover it with glue.
Step 2 Lay seven craft sticks, side-by-side, across the chipboard. Make sure to line up the bottoms of the
sticks so they are straight. Let dry.
Step 3 Glue another craft stick to the back, extending from the bottom. Use image as a guide.
Step 4 Paint the craft sticks. Let dry.
Step 5 As a substitute to real feathers, cut feather shapes out of construction paper and glue to the back,
on either side, for the wings of the bird, so they can be seen from the front.
Step 6 Glue a paper feather, or feathers, to the back center craft stick, so it can be seen over the top of the bird.
Step 7 Glue a pair of wiggle eyes in place. Let dry.
Step 8 Cut out paper shapes to decorate your bird, such as a triangle for the beak, and half ovals for the feet.
Royal Castle Book

Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Fold a piece of mixed media paper in half. On the folded edge, find the center, then measure out 1½”
either way. Next, measure in 1½” in from the folded edge. Make one cut at each of the 1½” marks and cut in
1½”. This will create the pop-up mechanism for your book.
Step 2 Open the folded paper and push the cut piece in toward the inside of the book so it creates a stair step.
Step 3 On a half sheet of paper, draw a castle and color. Cut out.
Step 4 Cut out and color an extra door and glue to the bottom of the castle door (so it opens up like a
drawbridge) and set it aside.
Step 5 Open the book flat. Using markers, color a sky (or cut construction paper for the sky) on the top half and
color a moat and other details for the ground on the bottom half.
Step 6 Glue the castle to the vertical portion of the pop-up mechanism. Fold the book to make sure if folds
correctly.
Step 7 Cover the outside of the book with construction paper using the glue stick. Decorate the outside of the
book using construction paper and markers.

Bunny Ear Headband
Supplies

Directions:
TIP: For stability, glue the construction paper onto a sheet of mixed media paper. Let dry.
Step 1 Cut two strips the length of a piece of the white construction paper and about 2” wide for the headband.
Step 2 Draw a larger bunny ear shape, twice, onto white construction (that you glued over the mixed media
paper) and the smaller ear, twice, onto pink construction paper. Cut out the shapes.
Step 3 Center the pink ear shapes onto the middle of the white ear shapes and glue into place.
Step 4 Decorate the headband with markers.
Step 5 Tape the two lengths together, then fit on your head for size. Trim off the excess and tape it together.
Step 6 Glue the bunny ears to the inside of the headband, centered along the back, so that the pink parts of the
ears are facing forward.
Star Mobile
Supplies
• Chenille Pipe Cleaners • Punch (Adult Use Only)
Directions:
Step 1 Print the template.
Step 2 Lay the pattern flat on your work surface. Take a chenille pipe cleaner and fold it in half, then twist on a
second chenille pipe cleaner to one end. Lay the folded point of the chenille pipe cleaners onto the top point of
the printed star on the pattern. Work your way down the pattern, bending the chenille pipe cleaner at each turn
on the star. When you are all the way around the chenille pipe cleaner, twist the two ends together and cut off any
excess pipe cleaner.
Step 3 Cut out the 3 smaller star patterns and trace each one onto mixed media paper. Cut out each star and
color with markers.
Step 4 ADULT: Punch a hole at the top and bottom of each star.
Step 5 Thread a length of yarn, at least 18” long, through the holes in each paper star. Tie one end of the yarn
onto the bottom, center of the chenille pipe cleaner star and trim off excess yarn.
Step 6 Slide the stars in place on the yarn. Determine the length of the yarn you want to hang from the chenille
pipe cleaner star. Tie the a knot at the end of the yarn. Trim the excess yarn.
Step 7 Tie a piece of yarn about 6” long onto the top point of the star to make a hanger. Make a loop and knot.
Trim excess yarn.

Weaving

Directions:
Step 1 Cut a piece of recycled cardboard about 5½”x 8½” for the “loom”.
Step 2 Using scissors, make some cuts along two opposite edges, ¼”-½” apart.
Step 3 Take your yarn and tape one end to the back of the cardboard. Fit the yarn into the notches and wrap
the yarn down the front to the opposite notch at the bottom, then back up, then down, until all the notches are
done. Tape the loose end to the back of the chipboard. This is called the warp.
Step 4 Take a length of yarn and tape one end to the back of the loom. Start weaving yarn through the warp
going over, then under, repeating all the way across, and come back the other way. Repeat until you have the
weaving completed. You can change colors by tying another color to the previous color of yarn and you can
change the texture by using both thick and thin yarns.
Step 5 When the weaving is done, turn over the cardboard, and take off the pieces of tape that are holding
down the ends of the yarn.
Step 6 Peel off the loops of yarn over the tabs along one side of the weaving then slide the other side of the
weaving off over the other tabs. Slide a craft stick through the top loops. Pull the loops of yarn that were on the
tabs, one at a time, so you can tighten down the edges of the weaving.
Step 7 Tie a knot around each of the loose ends and cut off the extra threads of yarn.
Kawaii Door Hanger

Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Print and cut out pattern pieces.
Step 2 Trace around the door hanger and the cloud patterns and cut out the shapes.
Step 3 Draw a rainbow onto the door hanger with markers.
Step 4 Color the area under the rainbow a solid color, such as light blue.
Step 5 Draw a face on the cloud and glue it onto the door hanger at the base of the rainbow.
Step 6 On the door hanger, just under the cloud, write your name or a message (such as “Do Not Disturb”).

Flower Weaving
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Using a pencil and a ruler, draw eight lines that cross through the center of the foam plate, dividing it into
16 equal “pie wedges.” Label each line with numbers from 1 through 16.
Step 2 Use scissors to snip a slit at each number around the edge into the line. Cut a triangle at every two lines
(between lines 1 and 2, lines 2 and 3, lines 3 and 4, etc.).
Step 3 Fasten the end of the yarn at line 1 by tying a knot and sliding it into the slit. Pull the yarn across the top of
the plate and fasten at line #9. Wrap the yarn behind the point to slit 10. Pull the yarn across to line 2 and behind
the point to slit 3. Pull across to 11 and behind 12, across to 4 and behind 5, across to 13 and behind 14, across 6
and behind 7, across to 16 and behind 15, across to 8 and behind 9. Be sure to secure the yarn into each slit every
time. This will look like a wheel with spokes. You should have two yarn “spokes” at 9. Trim the yarn from the skein
and tie a knot on the back behind a point.
NOTE: Yarn should be wrapped only behind the points and not across the back of the plate.
Step 4 You are now ready to weave. Cut a length of yarn about 36” long. Tie one end to the center of the wheel.
Now begin weaving the yarn through the spokes by alternating over and under, over and under, etc. Keep going
around the wheel (loom) until you get close to the end of the yarn length. Tie on another length of yarn in the same
color or the other color depending on the pattern you’re creating. Make sure that when you go over a “spoke”, that
the next time you come around to that “spoke”, you are going under it. Avoid pulling the yarn too tight, to make
sure your weaving stays flat.
Step 5 Continue weaving until you have filled up the plate. At this point, you can tie a knot at the back to finish
and trim the yarn. If you prefer to take the weaving off the plate, cut the yarn behind each point, one at a time, and
tie the ends together.
Craft Stick American Flag

Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Stack 5 craft sticks horizontally
Step 2 ADULT: Cut a popsicle stick in half then glue vertically across the sticks, on the left side and the
right side, joining all the sticks together.
Step 3 Glue the handle on your flag by gluing a craft stick to the right end. Let the glue dry completely.
Step 4 Turn the flag over. At the top left of the flag, measure 3” across and draw a vertical line down the
first 3 craft sticks. Paint this section with blue acrylic paint. Let dry.
Step 5 Using red paint, paint the first and third craft stick red from the edge of the Bright Blue section over
to the right. Paint the fifth craft stick all the way across. Let dry.
Step 6 Paint the handle and the second and fourth craft sticks white. Let dry.
Step 7 Dip the opposite end of the paintbrush into the white paint, then make 5 rows of 10 dots in the bright
blue area to represent the stars. Use the same technique to decorate the handle of the flag with blue dots. 24
Football Windsock

Directions:
Step 1 From white construction paper cut one 1/2”x10” and three 1/2”x2-1/2” rectangles to make the cross laces.
Step 2 Glue the main lace first to a brown sheet of construction paper then perpendicularly glue the other 3 pieces
to the main lace, evenly spaced.
TIP: For stability, glue the brown construction paper onto a sheet of mixed media paper. Let dry.
Step 3 Roll the paper with laces to the outside to create a tube and adhere the ends where they meet.
Step 4 ADULT: Punch two holes at the top of the tube on each side, opposite one another.
Step 5 Cut two lengths of white yarn about 12” long, insert one piece through each hole and tie a knot to secure it.
Pull up both lengths of yarn and knot them together so you can hang your windsock.
Step 6 Punch four holes around the bottom of the tube. Cut four (4) 20” pieces of yarn and thread through the
holes, pulling the yarn 1/2 way through, and tie a knot.
Step 7 String (3) pony beads onto the ends of all of the yarn and knot.
Paper Lantern

Step 1 Fold a piece of red construction paper in half vertically so you end up with a folded piece that measures 4½” x 12” [11.4
cm x 30.4 cm].
Step 2 Measure 1” [2.5 cm] in from the non-fold edge and lightly draw a line the entire length of the paper.
Step 3 Now, measure across the paper horizontally in 1” [2.5 cm] increments on the fold side and draw a light line ending at
the 1” [2.5 cm] line you drew in Step 2.
Step 4 Cut the horizontal lines up to and stopping at the 1” [2.5 cm] line drawn in Step 2. Open the paper and
lay it flat.
Step 5 Cut two strips of blue construction paper 1” x 9” [2.5 cm x 22.8 cm] and glue one across the top and one across the
bottom (above and below the slits).
Step 6 Roll the paper into a “tube” shape to create the lantern, where the slits are vertical. Glue the two ends together. Use
image as a guide.
Step 7 Cut a piece of white construction paper to 8” x 9” [20.3 cm x 22.8 cm] for the center “tube”. Roll it into a tube to fit
in the middle of the lantern and glue the ends together. Slide it into the lantern portion so that it is even with the top and
bottom of the tube.
Step 8 ADULT: Staple the white tube to the outer red tube at the top and the bottom of the lantern.
Step 9 Decorate the lantern using the foam stars.to make the handle for the lantern.
Step 10 ADULT: Punch two holes on opposite sides of the top of the lantern.
Step 11 Insert a chenille pipe cleaner into one of the holes, leaving about 1” [2.5 cm] on the inside. Bend it up and twist it
around to hold. Lightly bend the chenille pipe cleaner over the top and insert the other end into the hole, bend and twist to
secure, to make the handle for the lantern. 25
Craft Stick Bird Feeder
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Paint 10 popsicle sticks in each color: Blue, Turquoise, Light green and let dry. Set aside another
10 popsicle sticks and leave unpainted.
Step 2 Pick out 12 popsicle sticks in different colors. Lay them in a neat row on your work surface so
that all the long edges are touching. Make sure to line up the tops and bottoms so they’re even. This will
become the bottom of the bird feeder.
Step 3 Make a line of glue across all the craft sticks about ½” from one end, and place a craft stick onto
the glue line. It should be perpendicular to the craft sticks underneath. Repeat to glue a second craft stick
across the bottom row, about ½” from the opposite end. Once dry, these two sticks will hold the bottom
of the feeder together.
Step 4 Continue to build the sides of the feeder with craft sticks. Add dots of glue to each corner and place the
craft sticks around the edge alternating them log cabin style. Be sure to add glue at each corner every time you
add two new sticks.
TIP: Mix and match the colors of the craft sticks as much as you like.
Step 5 Add a perch for visiting birds; to do this, lay a craft stick down across one side of the feeder so that about
1” sticks out into the air (this becomes the perch) glue the stick in place.
Step 6 Keep building! Add four more rows around the feeder. Let the glue dry completely.
Step 7 Once the bird feeder is dry and sturdy, cut four pieces of yarn, each about 30” long. Thread one piece of
yarn in and out through the top row of craft sticks at one corner of the feeder. Pull the yarn halfway through and
match up the ends so that they’re even. Repeat for all four of the corners.
Step 8 Make your feeder extra fancy! Thread three pony beads onto each of the double strands at all four corners.
Step 9 Pull all the ends of the yarn up and tie them together in a knot at the top. Check to make sure the feeder is
hanging level, then tighten the knot for good. Fill your feeder with seeds and hang it in a popular spot.

Step 3 About 1/2” from the top, glue three white craft sticks, next to each other horizontally, across the small
white rectangle to make the marshmallow. Then, glue the brown painted craft stick under the white craft sticks to

Step 4 Glue one kraft rectangle across the top of the craft stick marshmallow, overlapping about half of the top
craft stick; and then repeat across the bottom brown craft stick. These kraft rectangles represent the graham

Step 5 Use markers to draw a face on the marshmallow.
Step 6 Glue a craft stick vertically to the back so it extends below the S’more for a handle. Let glue dry.
Unicorn Page Marker

Step 2 Paint the mixed media paper using light blue paint. Let dry.

Step 4 Assemble your “Hero Sandwich”. Open the “bun” flat. Begin by gluing the red “meat” shape to the center

Step 2 Cut two 1½” circles in a different color of construction paper than the petals.
Step 3 Use a chenille pipe cleaner as the stem of the flower. About 2½” from one end, bend the chenille pipe
cleaner 90° and make a loop with the longer end; then twist together to make a leaf. Use image as a guide.
Step 4 Spread the glue on top of one circle and attach the construction paper flower petals around the circle.
TIP: The ends will overlap as you attach around the circle.
Step 5 Add more glue to the floral circle. Lay about 1” of the top of the chenille pipe cleaner stem onto the
circle. Add glue to the second paper circle and lay it on the top of the first circle, with the circle petal and stem
ends in between. Hold for about 30 seconds to get the glue, paper and chenille pipe cleaner to stick.
Step 6 Use a marker to make dots in the center of the paper circles.
3-D Paper Flowers

Step 1 Paint the mixed media paper as the background for the flowers using your choice of paint, let dry.
Step 2 Print and cut patterns.
Step 3 Trace 6 petals and 1 circle from 1 color of construction paper. Cut out shapes.
Step 4 Cut about a ½” or less slit at 1 tip of each petal. Overlap the cut ends of the petal and glue together with
a glue stick to make a 3-D petal shape. Repeat this for all 6 petals.
Step 5 Glue the 6 petals to the outside edge of the paper circle.
Step 6 Repeat Steps 3-5 for 2 more flowers in 2 different colors of construction paper.
Step 7 Cut brown pieces of paper into a strips that look like flower stems. Cut green leaves out of construction

Paper Bead Bracelet

Step 2 Paint a sheet of white construction paper as desired. The goal is to make your own colorful paper. Let dry.
TIP: You can also use the ruler and measure out the strips directly on the paper. If you do this, start at the one end
on the bottom and measure in 1”. Make a mark, then make a mark every 1”. On the top of the paper, measure in ½”
and then measure every 1”. Draw a line from the bottom left mark to the top mark, then from the top mark to the
next bottom mark. This will make long triangles.
Step 3 Cut out the triangle strips.
Step 4 Lay one strip down on your working surface, with the back side facing up, and coat the back with a glue
stick.
Step 5 Now, pick up the strip, and starting from the wide end, roll it around a thin wood dowel or a pencil or
toothpick if you don’t have a dowel. Slide the bead off the dowel or pencil. Repeat for each bead you want to
make.
TIP: Brush a bit of white glue over the end to ensure that is stays sealed.
Step 6 Cut a piece of yarn that is about 12” long. Thread the beads onto the yarn, alternating the paper beads with
pony beads, until you have a length that will fit your wrist.
Step 7 Tie a knot around the last beads on each side. Lastly, have an adult tie it around your wrist with a bow, and
trim the excess yarn.

Yarn Monster

Step 1 Begin with one chenille stem. Shape it into a circle and twist together about 2” from the ends. Set aside.
Step 2 Wrap some yarn around your hand, about 20 times, and slide off. Hold the loops in your hand and thread
a small piece of yarn through the loops and tie a knot. Now cut open the loops on the opposite end.
Step 3 Place the yarn (where you tied it together) between the ends of the chenille pipe cleaner and twist
together to hold the yarn in place.
Step 4 Now, bend the chenille stem under the yarn so that your yarn monster will stand on its own.
TIP: If you keep the bottom of the chenille pipe cleaner straight, you should be able to get it to stand.
Step 5 Finally, curl the ends of the chenille pipe cleaners and glue a wiggle eye in the center of each. Let dry.

Step 2 Looking at the key, find the letter for your name. To the right of the key, use the worksheet to spell your

Step 3 Cut a piece of yarn about 18” long. Thread the colored pony beads onto the yarn for each letter of the
name using your colored key as a guide.
Step 4 Tie the ends of the yarn in a knot when all of the beads have been threaded on. Trim any excess yarn.

Mother’s Day “This Much” Card

Directions:
Step 1 Fold a piece of construction paper in half.
Step 2 Cut an 8” rectangular piece of paper for the arms. Add glue to the center of the rectangle length and stick
onto the front of the card so that its ends are an equal distance from the card’s sides. The top of the rectangle
should be about 2” above the bottom edge of the card.
TIP: Only add glue to the very center of the rectangle so that the arms are free to flap around. You can also com-
plete this step with an 8” piece of scarp ribbon instead of the paper rectangle to add texture to the card.
Step 3 From the construction paper cut out a shape for the body. You can make your body any shape you like, but
make sure it’s tall enough to reach from the bottom of the card to just above the top edge of the arms. Keep the
bottom of your shape flat, so that it does not stick out past the bottom of the card.
Step 4 Add details to the body with markers. Add glue to the back of the body and then place it onto the card.
Make sure it covers the center point where the arms are attached. Use the image as a guide.
Step 5 Use another piece of construction paper to cut out the head and two small hands. Use glue to adhere the
head onto the card just above the body and to glue the hands onto the back side of the arms, so that they stick
out from each end.
TIP: You can trace a small paint bottle or other small cylinder to make the head a perfect circle.
Step 6 With marker, write “Mama, I love you thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much!!” across the top of the card.
TIP: The actual number of “i”s are up to you.
Step 7 Glue the wiggle eyes onto the face. Draw a nose and mouth with markers.
Step 8 Use liquid glue to attach 3 pom poms at the neckline so that they cover the join between the
head and body.
Step 9 Cut short pieces of yarn and glue them around the head for hair.
Step 10 If you like, add more decorations, like hearts, with markers. Do not forget to write a special message to
Mom on the inside and sign your name.

Paper Llama

Step 1 Print and cut out all the template shapes.
Step 2 First, trace the llama shape onto white construction paper, then cut it out.
Step 3 Next trace the cactus onto green construction paper, the muzzle and hooves onto tan construction
paper and the ears onto pink construction paper and cut them out.
Step 4 Gently tear a piece of brown construction paper in half. Take one half and glue it onto the bottom
of a piece of blue construction paper, so that it becomes the desert sand. You can use our photo on
this page as a guide.
Step 5 Glue the white llama onto the center of the desert sand, just as we’ve done in our photo.
Step 6 Glue the cactus onto the desert sand in your desired placement.
Step 7 Glue the pink ears onto the paper llama’s white ears. Next, glue on the wiggle eyes, muzzle and hooves.
Step 8 Cut small pieces of white yarn, about 1”-2” long and glue them onto the white llama.
Step 9 Do you think your llama should be a little more dressed up? Glue pom-poms around his or her neck.

Royal Court Paper Finger Puppets
Supplies

Directions:
Step 2 Trace and cut out two identical paper rectangles large enough to cover the child’s finger and
round the edges.
Step 3 Glue the sides and around the top together, leaving the bottom open for the finger.
Step 5 Trace the pattern shapes onto construction paper and cut out.
Step 6 Assemble your character and attach the pieces together with glue. Use yarn or paper to make hair,
clothing and accessories.
Step 7 Add wiggle eyes.
Fire Breathing Dragon

Supplies
• Empty Toilet Paper • Pom Poms
Roll (or Paper Towel • Wiggle Eyes
Tube) • Glue
• Markers • Age Appropriate Scissors
Directions:
Step 1 Place a paper tube, on its side, on top of a piece of construction paper, and mark the length using a pencil.
Step 2 Cut out a strip of construction paper the same width as the tube; then, wrap it around the tube so that the
construction paper covers the whole tube and overlaps slightly. Cut away the excess paper.
Step 3 Run your glue stick across the overlapping paper and press it in place.
TIP: Hold the tube tightly for a minute so the glue dries and sticks to the tube.
Step 4 To create the flames, cut strips of paper in yellow, orange and red. Cut the strips to various lengths.
Use a glue stick to attach the strips inside the mouth for your dragon. Let dry.
Step 5 Use school glue to attach two green pom-pom eyes to the top of the tube. Hold in place and let dry.
Step 6 Glue wiggle eyes onto the pom-poms. Let dry.
Step 7 Use a marker to draw nostrils near the end of the tube, closest to your dragon’s mouth.

My Favorite Superhero Tube Craft
Supplies
• Empty Toilet Paper • Glue
Roll (or Paper Towel • Tape
Tube) • Age Appropriate Scissors
• Construction Paper • Template - page 82

Directions:
Step 1 Print the patterns and cut out.
Step 2 Trace the rectangle shape onto construction paper and cut out.
Step 3 Roll the rectangle into a tube, widthwise, and glue together. Set aside.
Step 4 Choose the colors that represent your favorite superhero or make up your own. Use markers to color in
the superhero printable page.
Step 5 Cut out the pieces. Draw, color and cut out any additional features for your hero on construction paper.
Step 6 Cut a strip of paper that wraps around the tube. The paper needs to cover about half the height of the
tube. The top of the tube should be left blank, leaving room for the hero’s face. Adhere the paper to the tube
using a glue.
Step 7 Attach the hair, mask and superhero symbol to the tube using a glue.
Step 8 Cut a 1” slit in the top of the superhero cape and fold the top of the cape so that it overlaps and makes
the cape “fly”. Attach the cape with household tape.
Elmer’s Penny Spinner

Supplies
• Mixed Media Paper • Penny
• Markers • Construction paper
• Age Appropriate Scissors • Glue
• Pencil
Directions:
Step 1 Use a round object (such as a dinner plate) to trace a circle onto a piece of mixed media paper.
Cut out the circle.
Step 2 Find the center of the circle and divide the circle into quadrants, like a pie. Then, decorate each quadrant.
TIP: Penny spinners look best when the decorations are done with lots of bold colors.
Check out these decoration ideas:
- Use markers to create deep, dark colors.
- Cut small scraps of construction paper and glue them into the quadrants.
- Use metallic or glitter glue to make swirls or designs in one.
Step 3 ADULT: Cut a slit that is just a bit smaller than a penny in the center of your circle. Push the penny through
the center slit so that about half the penny sticks out on each side. Add a small dot of white school glue to hold
the penny in place. Let dry.
Step 4 Set the spinner down and spin away!

Father’s Day Puzzle Card

Directions:
Step 1 Draw a picture and add a note to the drawing on a piece of mixed media paper.
Step 2 Flip over the paper and with a pencil draw 6-10 puzzle pieces.
Step 3 Cut apart the puzzle pieces.
Step 4 Place them in an envelope you have at home or a gift bag and pass on to dad or someone else.
They can then put the puzzle back together and see your message.
You Rock Dad Artwork

Supplies
• Markers
• Paintbrush
Directions:
Step 1 Draw the guitar shape onto the right half of a piece of mixed media paper.
Step 2 Paint the guitar. You can add dark and light shades of the color, add white to lighten and black
to darken the paint color to create interest.
Step 3 Paint the background around the guitar a different color.
Step 4 Finish the guitar by adding details, such as the hole in the center and the strings. Add white dots along
the edge of the guitar by dipping the end of the paintbrush into white paint and pressing it onto the paper.
Step 5 Write the message “You Rock Dad” or any other favorite saying on the mixed media paper with white
paint. When the paint is dry, you can outline the letters with a marker.

Directions:
Step 1 Print the Binary Code Key, then choose what you want to say in code (your name, word or saying). Write
your word(s) on a piece of paper and then use the binary code key to translate each letter into code.
TIP: For example, the code in the project shown spells out “Jaylah”
J = 0100 1010 A = 0100 0001 Y = 0101 1001
L = 0100 1100 A = 0100 0001 H = 0100 1000
Step 2 Now choose one color to represent your 1s in the code and one color to represent your 0s in the code.
The third color will be your background.
Step 3 Arrange your pom-poms in rows to spell the name or word you are coding.
TIP: For example, if you are coding the letter J, and you chose dark blue for 1 and light blue for 0,
your pattern would be: Light – Dark – Light – Light – Dark – Light – Dark – Light.
Step 4 Use a glue stick to create a line of glue on the canvas. Stick your pom-poms to the paper in order. Go
slowly to make sure you don’t mix up the order. Let your glue completely dry.
Step 5 Once you’ve written your name, word or saying, you can fill in the background with the third color.
3-D Paper Eggs

Supplies
• Acrylic Craft Paint • Template - page 80
• Paintbrush
• Yarn
Directions:
TIP: If you want to make larger or smaller eggs just reduce or enlarge your pattern print out.
Step 2 Choose 6 pieces of construction paper and use markers or paint to make a unique pattern on each one.
Try lines, polka dots, hearts, waves etc. Let the paper dry before going to the next step.
Step 3 Using your newly designed paper, fold each one in half. Place the pattern, with the straight edge on the
fold, trace the pattern and cut out the 6 eggs. Fold them in half with the decorated side of the paper to the inside.
Step 4 Glue one half of the paper egg’s non-decorated side to another paper egg’s non-decorated side. Continue
doing this with all the eggs.
Step 5 Cut a piece of yarn about 24” long and, before gluing the last two sides together, lay the yarn in between,
making a loop to hang the egg, then glue the last two sides together.
Step 6 Stand the egg up on a table to display, or hang it from an egg tree.

Craft Stick Scarecrow
Supplies
• Craft Sticks • Wiggle Eyes
• Acrylic Craft Paint • Construction Paper
• Yarn • Glue
• Markers • Paintbrush
Directions:
Step 1 Lay eight craft sticks, side by side, with the tops and bottoms aligned. Glue a craft stick across the sticks,
making sure to cover all of the sticks.
Step 2 Turn the sticks over. Glue another craft stick about 1½” from the top in a slight diagonal to create the area
for the scarecrow’s hat.
Step 3 Paint the hat. Paint the diagonal craft stick as well. Let dry.
Step 4 Glue two wiggle eyes onto the scarecrow’s face.
Step 5 Cut a small triangle from orange construction paper and glue it to the face for a nose.
Step 6 Draw a mouth onto the scarecrow’s face using a marker.
Step 7 To make the flower for the scarecrow’s hat, wrap yarn around your hand about 25 times. Gently
slide the yarn off of your hand and tie a small piece of yarn around the middle of the loops. Spread the loops
around to create a circular “flower”. Glue a pom-pom to the center of the flower, then glue the flower
onto the scarecrow’s hat.
Step 8 To make the scarecrow’s hair, cut pieces of yellow construction paper and glue them to the back
of the hat so they stick out.
Handprint Owl Artwork

Supplies
• Mixed Media Paper • Paintbrush
Directions:
Step 1 Paint the blue background on the mixed media paper. Let dry.
Step 2 Paint the child’s hand with brown paint and press onto the painted paper in two places, with
fingers pointing down. Reapply paint after the first imprint. Let dry.
Step 3 Paint two white circles, side by side, about ½” in diameter for each of the owl’s eyes.
Step 4 Cut two small triangles from orange construction paper for beaks.
Step 5 Using a pencil draw the tree branches onto the canvas panel so the owls appear to be sitting on a limb.
The branch run through the owl handprints where the fingers and the palm of the hand come together.
Paint the branches black.
Step 6 Cut four smaller triangles for the owl’s talons and attach them on the branch where the
owl is sitting.
Step 7 Cut a small moon from construction paper and glue it in the sky
Step 8 Glue small wiggle eyes onto each owl.

Share the Love Card
Supplies

Directions:
Step 1 Fold a sheet of mixed media paper in half to make a card.
Step 2 Cut a piece of red (or your favorite color) paper. Fold paper in half and cut out half of a heart shape
using as much of the paper as possible. Now, cut a smaller half heart out of the middle of the larger heart.
Open your hearts.
TIP: You now have one solid small red heart and one large heart with an open middle.
Step 3 Glue the two hearts on the front of your card base.
Step 4 Use markers to draw a design (or pattern) in the middle of the large open heart and finish with details, such
as an arrow.
Step 5 Add your sentiment to the smaller heart using the stencil and/or decorate the rest of your card.
Step 6 Create a color border on the card by cutting one of the paper sheets in quarters and gluing on the
inside of the card.
Bumble Bee
Supplies
Directions:
Step 1 Cut a bee’s body shape out of black construction paper. Make sure the shape is as wide or wider than a
craft stick. See image as a guide.
Step 2 Draw a circle on white construction paper and cut it in half. These will be the wings.
Step 3 Paint three craft sticks yellow and two with black paint. Let dry.
Step 4 Glue the painted craft sticks alternating yellow and black onto the body portion of the bee. Let dry.
Step 5 Glue two wiggle eyes onto the bee’s head.
Step 6 Cut a 2” piece of yellow chenille pipe cleaner. Bend it in half to form a “V”. Glue to the back at the top of
the bee’s head.
Step 7 Glue the wings to the back of either side of the bee’s body.

Ice Cream Painting
Supplies
• Paintbrush
• Pencil
Directions:
Step 1 Use a pencil to lightly sketch a drawing of ice cream cones and cold treats onto a sheet of mixed media paper.
Step 2 Place some craft paint on a paper plate and add water with a Paintbrush to make it thin like watercolor paints.
Step 3 Start your painting with a light wash of color mixed with water. Add more color for darker areas and more
water for lighter areas. When switching colors, make sure to rinse out the brush.
Step 4 Let areas of the painting dry before adding more paint to build up the color in that area. Let dry.

Step 1 Cut a circle about 3” in diameter out of mixed media paper. You can trace around a cup, for example.

Step 3 Cut small piece of black construction paper for a hat.
Step 4 Glue black pom poms to cover. Glue hat to top of “head”.

Directions:
Step 1 Paint tube black. Let dry.
Step 2 Cut a white oval and glue to the front of the tube.
Step 3 Cut piece of red construction paper 4” tall by length to go around tube for hat.
Step 4 Make slits on the paper 1½” for fringe.
Step 5 Glue paper around top of tube for hat and tie with yarn to create hat.
