Letter from the Editor

Hello Crafty Families,

It’s no secret that Popsicle sticks make for great crafting materials. Who would’ve thought that
the stick from a sugary, frozen treat could turn into an adorable home decoration or a tiny
wooden raft? I remember digging through our craft drawers when I was a kid searching for
various sizes and colors of Popsicle sticks for whatever project I was planning to make. Even if I
wasn’t sure what I was making, I’d just start gluing sticks together until inspiration struck.

In this free eBook, you’ll find some adorable crafts made from Popsicle sticks that you and the
kids can make together, or with their friends and siblings. You can even print out this eBook and
do some of these crafts on the road or while visiting a relative’s house. While the kids are
visiting Grandma’s for Christmas, they can make the Ribbon Tree Homemade Christmas
Ornaments found on page 28, or if it’s close to Halloween, the kids can make the Popsicle Stick
Monster Men craft found on page 18. No matter the time of year, these Popsicle stick crafts will
get the kids thinking creatively and, most importantly, having fun!

You can find more craft projects, recipes, and activity ideas at www.AllFreeKidsCrafts.com.

Our eBooks, like all our kids’ craft projects, are absolutely FREE to members of our kids’ crafts
community. Please feel free to share with family and friends and ask them to sign up at our
website for our free e-mail newsletter.

Happy crafting!

Sincerely,

The Editors of AllFreeKidsCrafts.com

Beaded Popsicle Stick Snail
By: Rachel Nipper from I Heart Crafty Things

Snail crafts are a fun way to get your kid interested in all creatures, great and small (especially small).
The Beaded Popsicle Stick Snail is a quick DIY kids' craft that's doable for both younger and older age
groups. This is a great craft to try after a nature walk or a trip to the zoo. You can make the beaded snail
shell with earthy wooden beads, or get creative with colorful pony beads. All the kids will have to do is
string them to a pipe cleaner and add some glue and a Popsicle stick. You can even make a whole family
of little snails to keep each other company!

Material:

Wooden scoop stick

2 brown pipe cleaners
Wood beads
Small googly eyes
Glue
Hot glue gun (adult supervision required)

Instructions:

1. Start by threading one of your brown pipe cleaners with wooden beads.

2. Curl the end of your pipe cleaner to form a circle and wrap the extra pip cleaner section around the
beaded strand to secure it in place. Continue curling and bending the beaded strand around in circles to
form a snail shell

3. When you get to the end you’ll have the extra pip cleaner section from the other end showing. Wrap
it around the beaded pip cleaner to secure it and hold the beaded snail body in place.

6

4. Use the hot glue gun (adult supervision required) to glue your beaded snail body onto the scoop stick.

5. Cut a small section off of your other brown pip cleaner (about ¼ of it) and bend it in half. Curl the
ends to make antennae, and then, use the hot glue gun to glue it to the back of the scoop stick at the
front.

6. Finish your snail craft by gluing a small googly eye onto its face and add a smile if you’d like!

11 Popsicle Stick Crafts for Kids

Instructions:

1. To make the base of each puppet, use eight mini craft sticks (Six lined up together vertically and two
glued horizontally to hold them in place).

2. Flip over the Popsicle stick base and begin painting animal designs on the popsicles. For the animal
puppets shown above, you can paint the Popsicle stick base white for zebra, grey for elephant, blue or
red for macaw, brown for monkey, orange for tiger, and orange/brown for lion.

9
11 Popsicle Stick Crafts for Kids

3. While the paint dries, cut various elements for the adhesive craft foam. This may take a while if you’re
making several animal puppets, but this will allow plenty of time for the paint to dry. If you don’t have
adhesive craft foam, regular craft foam or paper with glue will work too.

4. Once the glue is dry, you and the kids can put on a fun animal puppet show!

Popsicle Stick Boat

By: AllFreeKidsCrafts Craft Studio

Popsicle sticks are one of the most basic crafting supplies, whether you are a serious crafter or not. Use
this incredibly cheap and easy material to build a Popsicle Stick Boat. Your kids can race them in the pool
or a nearby stream. Take this Popsicle stick craft out on the water and see it set sail on the high seas.
This video shows step-by-step instructions for how to make a boat out of Popsicle sticks and it definitely
easy enough for young kids. They can name their vessels and pretend they're pirates racing towards
treasure. Don't worry if you don't have your sea legs just yet, because there's no sea sickness with this
boat.

Materials:

Popsicle sticks (plain or colored)

Elmer’s or Tacky glue
Small patterned duct tape or craft tape for sail

11
11 Popsicle Stick Crafts for Kids

Instructions:

1. Starting with the base of the boat, arrange two Popsicle sticks horizontally with space in between.
Then, glue a vertical layer of Popsicle sticks to the supporting horizontal ones.

2. Repeat step one to add another layer to the base of the boat.

12
11 Popsicle Stick Crafts for Kids

3. Add two more Popsicle sticks horizontally to the base for extra support.

4. To add the sail, you’ll need two Popsicle sticks. Cut one in half and form a triangle with the whole
Popsicle stick. Use colorful duct tape or crafting tape to attach and fill in the sail.

13

5. Attach the sail to the base of the boat by gluing the sail between the Popsicle sticks of the base. Use
more Popsicle sticks or tape to support the sail while the glue dries. You can remove the support sticks
and tape once it’s dry if you prefer.

20
11 Popsicle Stick Crafts for Kids

5. For the large eye on the purple stick, add a dot of green over the dry white paint and allow the green
to dry. When dry, add a smaller dot of black.

the teeth. We used a toothpick dipped in white paint.

7. To add other details such as eyebrows use a fine point black marker. Hint: After making the teeth
white, go over the outlines again with a black marker.

8. Use a toothpick dipped in black paint to add the black pupils of the eyes. For larger pupils, use the

1. Paint your pot green and let it dry completely. It will most likely need more than one coat.

colored, you will need to cut them and glue them together in the shape of a field goal post. You’ll want
three short pieces {two with a rounded end and one without} to form a “U” shape, and a longer piece to
attach to the bottom of the “U.”

3. Use a white Elmer’s Painters marker to mark yard lines around the rim of your pot.

30

4. Fill the pot with soil and add grass seed.

31
11 Popsicle Stick Crafts for Kids

5. Push your goal post into the soil.

6. Water the seeds daily and place the pot in a sunny location, and before you know it, the grass in your
field will be growing tall!
