ELECTRONIC TEACHING MATERIALS: ITS EFFECT TO THE ACADEMIC

PERFORMANCE OF GRADE 10 IN ENGLISH CLASSROOM

CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Multimedia is defined as dig graphic animation, audios,

images and motion video in a way that provides individual

users with high levels of control and introduction.

Multimedia is the field concerned with the computer

controlled integration or text, graphics, drawing, image and

moving animation, audio and other media where every type of

information can be represented, stored, transmitted, and

process digitally.

Computer and related electronic resources have come to

play a central role in education whatever your feelings

about what some have called the digital revolution. At the

very simplest level, teacher may be lighten up to receive

paper or other outputs from a student that are hand as this

facilitated written with the help of a computer. But it is

not just the student who fined electronic resource valuable;

teachers can also be benefited from these resources as well

as by employing a series of useful tools.

Electronic teaching materials helps to prevent hassle

system that can communicate and cooperate with the students

to the levels they are handling with. It developed the


advance learning and root foundation of knowledge to sharpen

one’s thinking. It was a good alternative ways of scanning

if no books, newspaper, etc. Technology set a goal to

provide an answer to its demand. It prepares individual to

apply the productivity in their daily living when it comes

to school.

In a study by Usher (2012) in real world application of

technology along with other academic subjects, it motivates

students and enhances their thinking skill actively about

information, making choices and executing skills than is

typical in teacher-led lesson. Thus, electronic teaching

materials improves students learning and make them to be

more interested in learning and this can help student to do

their work such as assignment, research, and other

activities. It also helps teachers to teach using electronic

materials such as TV, projectors, laptops, etc. that help

student to enhance their academic performance.

This study shows how electronic teaching materials

benefits students on their studies and improve students’

engagement in education. Also, it can make learning more

interactive and collaborative. They learn by doing that

provides better learning experience and helps both teachers

and students because it makes their work easier.


Education system have received a good feedback if the

use of electronic teaching materials will do further

contributions to hit the high value education. Seeing

students motivate to learn will help them to enjoy the

learning session. It is possible to warm-up their critical

thinking and discover beyond knowledge because of the

contributions of these newer materials. Therefore, the use

of electronic teaching materials has availability to

increase the standard in the use of technology, students are

motivated to learn. The information about teachers’

attitudes and habit towards it will be provided when it

comes to using electronic teaching materials in their

teaching.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
The problem is although many technology tools are

available for teachers to use in their classroom, teachers

must always realize if it could benefit their students.

Teachers should integrate technology into their classroom

and witness the benefits such as improved students’ academic

performance. We all know that technology integration is much

familiar on Science class. However, this research wants to

prove that electronics teaching materials are also

beneficial in English class to boost and improved the

students’ performance.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The purpose of this study is to prove the importance of

using electronics teaching materials in English class. This

study specifically hoped to show how the electronic teaching

materials affect the academic performance of the students in

English. The fact that teachers are teaching using

Electronic Materials and students as well does not mean that

it will immediately sustained positive affects to the

students’ performance. By doing so, teachers must have

acquired different strategies on how to use this.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS
Electronic teaching materials play a big role in

upgrading the academic learning of the students. Deepen the

idea to construct another improvement and aid in this

generation the researcher narrowed down the topic by

focusing on the effects of Electronic Teaching Materials.

Specifically, the study sought to answer the following

questions:

1. What are the Electronic teaching materials that help

students in their study?

2. How does the use of ETM affect students’ performance

in English?

3. How do different ETM affect students’ performance?

a. What are the ETM that are interesting and

motivating?

b. What are the ETM that students are most familiar

with?

c. What are the ETM that students are more exposed

to?

4. What is the correlation between students’ grades in

English and the aid of ETM’s to their academic

performance in English?

HYPOTHESIS OF THE STUDY


There is a significant difference between the

Electronic teaching materials and the academic performance

of the students in English.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The result of the study would be beneficial to the

following:

Student. This study may help the student to become

aware of the effects of electronic teaching

materials on their performance.

Teacher. This study may help the teacher to become

aware in using ETM to avoid getting unwarranted

stress.

School. This study may help promotes the school and

its image and become well-known to public for having

the ETM materials that help students on improving

their academic performance.

Researcher. This study may become a help to future

researcher.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY


This study focuses on assessing the effect of using

electronic teaching materials to the academic performance of

the grade 10 students in English and in enhancing their

engagement to the ETM to increase and improve the academic

achievement.

LOCALE OF THE STUDY

This study determined the effect of electronic teaching

materials on the academic performance of the grade 10

students in English classroom at Shepherdville College,

Talojongon, Tigaon, Camarines Sur.
