Describe the setting of the Philippines during the time of Rizal and identify at least 10
conditions why people during his time easily be considered as hero.
1) He must be Filipino
2) He is already dead
3) Has a low temper
4) is the influence of the person concerned on his age and or
the succeeding age.
5) is that heroes are those who have a concept of nation and thereafter aspire
and struggle for the nation’s freedom (they must have desired the country’s
freedom in any situation especially when there’s a threat of invasion in any form).
6) is that heroes are those who define and contribute to a system of life of
freedom and order for a nation (one who helps in the orderliness and betterment
of the country).
7) is, heroes are those who contribute to the quality of life and destiny of a nation.
8) a hero is part of the people’s expression (the citizen must have recognized
and acknowledged the person as a hero).
9) a hero thinks of the future, especially the future generations, his concern for
the future generations must be seen in his decisions and ideals).
10) the choice of a hero involves not only the recounting of an episode or events
in history, but of the entire process that made this particular person a hero.

2. In our present setting, how a Filipino can be a hero. Cite at least 10 possible
situations that we can be a hero, like or more than Rizal
1) Heroes are those who have a concept of nation, and aspire and struggle for
the nation’s freedom
2) Recognition and acceptance of the potential risk or sacrifice made by taking
heroic actions.
3) Heroes contribute to the quality of life and destiny of a nation.
4) A hero is part of the people's expression. But the process of a people's
internalization of a hero's life and works takes time, with the youth forming a part
of the internalization.
5) A hero thinks of the future, especially the future generations.
6) Performing actions without any expectation of reward or external gain.
7) Anyone can claim there is a hero in him/her and say that a distinct
achievement makes one a hero.
8) Acting voluntarily for the service of others who are in need, whether it is for an
individual, a group, or a community.
9) People who engage in lifelong heroism (such as professional nurses who
regularly comfort the sick and dying) do share a number of important personality
traits such as empathy, nurturance, and a need to live by a moral code.
10) A hero is a person who saves the day. He's the one who has all the courage
and he has responsibility.
