NFPA 407 Inspection Checklist

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
❏ Deadman flow control shut-off switch required
❏ Nozzle not to be held open
❏ Bonding connections in place; clean, unpainted
❏ Fire extinguisher on ramp during fueling (ABC type not permitted)
❏ Operations personnel fully trained (fueling operations, fire equipment use, emergency procedures) -
documentation of training available
❏ Shut-off station clearly labeled
❏ Emergency fuel shut-off inspected - documentation available to show 6 and 12 month inspections
❏ Fuel equipment service and maintenance records maintained
❏ Fuel hose testing and inspection records available - daily, monthly, and quarterly
❏ Lightning plan/procedure in place
❏ Fueling operations conducted outdoors
❏ Communications and electrical equipment prohibited from use within 10’ of the fueling area
❏ “No Smoking” signage posted, and open flames prohibited

AVIATION FUELING FACILITIES


❏ Fuel tanks meet all requirements of NFPA 30
❏ Clear space maintained around fueling equipment and area
❏ Fire extinguisher located at fuel loading location [minimum 80-B:C]
❏ NFPA 704 placards in place
❏ Access to fuel storage and loading areas secured

AIRPORT FUELING VEHICLES


❏ All vehicles compliant with NFPA 385
❏ Fire extinguishers in place on the vehicle [minimum (2) 80-B:C; visible and accessible]
❏ Smoking elements not permitted in/on vehicle (cigarette lighters, ashtrays, etc.)
❏ Name of operator or responsible organization clearly marked on vehicle
❏ Required signage is in place and visible from all sides of the vehicle - “FLAMMABLE”, “NO SMOKING”,
“[PRODUCT NAME/FUEL TYPE]”

SELF-SERVICE FUELING
❏ Emergency shut-off located 20’-100’ from fuel dispensers
❏ Means of notify fire department in place
❏ Fire extinguisher in place at the dispenser and at the emergency shut-off location [minimum (1) 80-B:C
required in each location]
❏ Emergency instructions clearly posted
❏ Fuel dispenser operating instructions clearly posted
❏ Access to fuel dispensers secured.
