SCOPE OF DELIVERY:
The software ZIP file downloaded from the Agfa HealthCare Library contains:
Software ≥ 3.0.0_C1
Installation Instructions as PDF file (this document)
REQUIRED TOOLS:
Service PC with CF card reader (CF = Compact Flash)
For software installation via Remote_emergency_install.bat file:
Ethernet cable
REQUIRED SOFTWARE:
For software installation via Remote_emergency_install.bat file:
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) ≥ Version 5.
For more information refer to section 5.3.
NOTE:
A CF card, which can be used for software installation, is part of the printer delivery,
and usually stored in the film tray of the printer.
If this CF card is lost, use a CF card from spare parts stock, spare part number*:
CM+3433561
As an alternative, use a CF card with following specifications:
Capacity max. 4 GB
Formatted: FAT (default). Do not use FAT32 or NTFS.
* The last digit in the spare part number indicates the spare part revision at release of
this document. When ordering, the actual revision of the spare part is delivered.
REQUIRED TIME:
Approximately 30 minutes
NOTE:
The software installation can be performed at any DRYSTAR 5300.
It is independent on the software or hardware status.
1 Introduction
# Step Refer to
section
1 Preparing the software upgrade. 2
2 Performing the software upgrade. 3
3 Finalizing the software upgrade. 4
NOTE:
This document describes the software installation of software ≥ 3.0.0_C1 via
"Emergency software installation" procedure.
A short instruction for software installation via local keypad or browser is available
in the appendix, section 5.5.
For a list of new features and solved bugs of the software refer to service
documentation chapter 3.8, Software Releases, Patches.
2 Preparation
# Tasks Refer to
section
1 Check currently installed software version and IP address*. 2.1
2 Print reference images from the modalities*. 2.2
3 Disconnect the network cable. 2.3
4 Save the printer configuration*. 2.4
5 Unzip software. 2.5
6 Copy software to CF card. 2.6
*Step is not performed when installing the software on an empty internal CF card.
NOTE:
Purpose of writing down the printer IP address:
If the printer IP address after the software upgrade is still the same like before, this is
the proof that the configuration was preserved during software upgrade.
NOTE:
This step is an optional step. This allows comparing the clinical image quality before
and after software upgrade. The image quality should stay the same.
(1) Connect a network cable between service PC and printer. See NOTE below.
NOTE:
Use a "crossed" network cable for point-to-point connection between printer and
service PC. Recent service PCs also auto-detect the type of connection and allow
direct connection from PC to printer via "normal" network cable.
See also sections 5.1 and 5.2.
(2) Adapt the service PC IP address to the IP address of the printer, if required.
For details refer to section 5.2.
(3) Start the browser.
(4) Enter the printer IP address in the address window.
(5) Select menu Key-operator tools.
(6) Select menu 4 Save configuration.
(7) Select menu 1 General.
(8) Select menu 2 To remote computer.
(9) Follow the further instructions on the screen.
(10) Leave the Key-operator tools when finished.
NOTE:
This step is not required if you intend to perform the software upgrade via batch file
Remote_emergency_install.bat.
Figure 2
3 Software Installation
IMPORTANT:
Software installation in general can be done via CF card or batch file.
Recommendation: Perform the software installation with CF card via
emergency installation procedure (see #1 in table below).
Proceeding:
6 7 1 min. 8 4 min.
IMPORTANT:
EMERGENCY SW INSTALL.
DONE
Remove CF-card and
reset printer.
Switch off-on.
Do not downgrade to
Please WAIT a version lower READY
Self test proceeding than R3.1.0 *
Press (V) to continue
* “R3.0.0” is an example.
The installed software version will be displayed.
NOTE:
Preserve the configuration during software installation as shown in Figure 4. In this
case following steps are executed internally:
A backup of the printer configuration data is created and copied to RAM.
The software is copied from external CF card to internal CF card and inflated.
The boards are programmed.
The backup is restored from RAM.
When you choose during Emergency SW Installation not to "preserve the
configuration", these data are erased. The printer in this case is in the same state like
it has been shipped from factory (e.g. default IP address 169.254.10.10).

Figure 6
(7) Enter the FTP username and
password.
Figure 7
NOTE:
During software upgrade via batch file following steps are executed internally:
A backup of the printer specific data is created and copied to RAM.
The software is sent from the PC to the printer via FTP and inflated.
The boards are programmed.
The backup is restored from RAM.
# Tasks Refer to
section
1 Check displayed software version and IP address. 4.1
2 Print a STI2 test image and medical test image from the service 4.2
menu and a (technical) test image from each modality to verify
successful software upgrade.
3 Save printer configuration. 4.3
(1) Connect the service PC to the printer via network. Instructions see section 5.2.
(2) Connect to the printer service web pages. Instructions see section 5.1.
(3) In the browser pages select menu Service Engineer Tools - Enter Service
Command Session - 3 Print Image - 1 Test image - Medical_image.ZIP.
(4) Select '1' for number of copies.
The medical_image test image will be printed.
(5) From the same menu print a test film "STI2".
(6) Close the service web pages.
(7) Disconnect the network cable between service PC and printer.
(8) Connect the network cable to the printer.
(9) If possible, print a technical and medical image from each modality.
(10) At the light box compare the images printed from the modality with the images
printed before software upgrade.
(11) At the light box check the images for artifacts: In case image artifacts are visible
in the images, troubleshoot as described in the Troubleshooting Guide
DD+DIS153.08E.
NOTE:
For external partners accessing the “Troubleshooting Guide” may be restricted.
In such a case please contact your local Agfa representative.
(1) In the Key-Operator Menu on the local keypad select menu 4 Save
configuration - 1 General and follow the further instructions on the display.
In any case save a backup on the external CF card of the printer.

*Recent service PCs auto-detect the type of connection and allow direct connection from PC to printer via
"normal" network cable. If after IP address adaptation of the service PC the printer homepage is not
displayed, use a crossed network UTP cable.
To connect the printer and the Service PC via network, usually the IP address of the
Service PC has to be adapted.
Proceeding:
(1) Look up the printer IP address and subnet mask in the printer key operator menu
1 Show settings - 3 Network (DICOM).
(2) Define an IP address for the Service PC by adding or subtracting "1" to the last
digit of the IP address.
Example: Printer IP address = 192.168.2.4
Service PC address = 192.168.2.3 or 192.168.2.5
(3) Enter IP address and subnet mask. See section 5.2.1: Adapting TCP/IP Settings of
the Service PC

Figure 11
If the graphical user interface for software installation shown in Figure 5 is still not
displayed, check the environment variable for Java:
(1) Select menu: Start > Control
Panel > System > Advanced
system settings > Environment
Variables. See Figure 13.
(2) Check whether variable
JAVA_HOME is available and
whether the path setting is
correct. See Figure 13.
(3) If variable JAVA_HOME is not
available: Create variable. See
Figure 12.
(4) Close the Control Panel screens
and double-click again on file:
Remote_emergency_install.bat
Figure 12
Figure 13
NOTE:
A logfile of the software installation named 'swins.log' is created in the same directory
where the 'Remote_emergency_install.bat' file is executed.
In case it is executed from a write protected medium (e.g. CD ROM), the 'swins.log'
file is not created.
