2. What could be the main reasons project management became a separate

profession during recent decades?

In my opinion, project management became a profession during the recent decades

due to the rising demands of project manager as the world enters a new era. As time
passes by, change and innovation become more and more inevitable. Countless
projects are being started and planned by different organizations to be able to grow
and meet their organizational goals. Thus, creating the need to have a person to
manage projects solely. As we all know, pproject management ensures that the goals
of projects closely align with the strategic goals of the business. Also, Project
management became a profession as it is now being studied and highlighted in
education to be able to create good project managers in the future.
3. What are the main differences between project, project management and
general management?

- The main differences come from the fact that a project is a temporary endeavor that
produces a unique product/service, so every project is different. Project
management deals with all the practices needed to have a successful project in
terms of time, cost and quality. For example, setting up a new shoe store, building a
road or creating a new software. In general management you manage processes and
functions, which are composed of recurrent activities that generate the same product
or service. For example selling shoes, maintaining a road or giving technical support
to an already built software.

4. Using web search engines and different keywords (for example project
management careers, information technology project management, etc.), find
at least five informative web sites devoted to project management.

5. Using virtual bookstores (for example www.amazon.com) and book

descriptions, find at least five interesting books on project management.

teamdeck
2. The ultimate guide to Project Management” published by Zapier.
3. Project Management Tactics for Pros” published by Netguru
4. A guide to Project Management” published by teamgantt
5. Project Management can be easy” published by EasyProjects

6.What are the most significant characteristics of effective project managers? To

what extent can these be acquired/learned? Compare your list of characteristics to the
results of some inquiry.
One of the qualities of a good manager is having an effective communication
skill. A manager must be a good communicator so that he can connect with people at all
levels. As a project manager, they must be able to clearly explain the project goals and
responsibilities. This way, a project manager will be able to lead the team towards their goal.
Secondly, one must possess a strong leadership skill. Effective project management means
having strong leadership qualities such as being able to motivate his team and drive them to
maximum performance so that they can achieve their goals. Third is to be a good decision
maker. As a manager, you need to have decision-making skills because there will always be
decisions that need to be acted on.

Since project management software and other related programs are essential in
accomplishing project goals,it is important for a project manager to have sound technical
knowledge to understand the issues that are related to the technical aspect. It is also
necessary for a project manager to have good negotiation skills. One of the qualities needed
for effective project management is the ability to negotiate. In times that conflict arise due to
differences in opinion, project managers need sheer negotiating skills to settle the issue and
maintain harmony in the team. Lastly, a good manager must know what he is doing, can
initiate new projects and face the challenges that come with them. Thus, competence is a
must characteristic for project managers.

7. What knowledge areas require from project managers more knowledge of the
subject area the project is dealing with?

To be able to be a great project manager, one must have knowledge of

the following subject areas:

1. Project integration management

Project integration management is the umbrella that covers all other
project management knowledge areas. It knits together individual processes
and tasks into one project with defined goals and objectives.

2. Project Scope management

Project Scope Management is concerned with the work of the project.
All of the processes involved with the work of the project, and only the work
that is required to complete the project, are found in this knowledge area.

3. Project Time Management

This knowledge area is concerned with estimating the duration of the
project plan activities, devising a project schedule, and monitoring and
controlling deviations from the schedule.

4. Project cost Management

Project Cost Management knowledge area around costs and budgets.
The processes that make up this knowledge area are as follows: Resource
Planning, Cost Estimating, Cost Budgeting, and Cost Control.

5. Project Quality Management

The Project Quality Management knowledge area assures that the
project meets the requirements that the project was undertaken to produce.

6. Project Resource Management

Project Human Resource Management involves all aspects of people
management and personal interaction including leading, coaching, dealing
with conflict, and more.

7. Project Communications Management

The processes in the Project Communications knowledge area are
related to general communication skills but aren’t the same thing.
Communication skills are considered general management skills that the
project manager utilizes on a daily basis.

8. Project Risk Management

Managing project risk is one of the most underrated aspects of project
management.  Major risk are very seldom identified up front and analyzed
within the project management plan, but when they are project stakeholders
tend to forgive the unexpected issues much quicker

9. Project Procurement Management

This project management knowledge area gives the blueprint for which
tasks or services will be completed by outside contractors. It also builds and
plans the legal paperwork and coordination process ahead of time. This may
not be a knowledge area you use every time or even very often, but it’s
incredibly valuable when you do need it.

10. Project Stakeholder Management

There is nothing more important than the project’s stakeholders.  You could, in
theory, declare a project a success if the stakeholders are satisfied. The stakeholders
should be actively managed and addressed within the project management plan.

8. What kind of projects needs more knowledge from the subject area and what kind
of projects less?

The kinds of project that needs more knowledge from the subject area are projects
that include vast amount of investment, long period of time and our made for long-term
purposes. Like for example, launching a new brand line for a clothing corporation needs a lot
of strategic planning and project management as it requires a lot of investment, legal
requirements and research and development. Also, building a new condominium estate
needs a lot of expertise not only from architects and engineers but also to finance managers
and project managers. However, projects that needs less knowledge are projects that are
meant for short-range plans that our mostly simple and easy to achieve. Examples of this
projects are arranging your work schedule, lessen the use of credit card, improving your
skills through attending seminars and getting certifications.
9. Based on more recent data, find statistics on success and failure indicators of
projects. What are the major trends during the last decade (see, for example, an
interview with Jim Johnson of the Standish Group,
http://www.infoq.com/articles/Interview- Johnson-Standish-CHAOS).

Project failure can be defined as a “project that fails to perform a duty

or an expected action, non-occurrence or non-performance”. On the other hand,
Project success can be defined as the achievement of something desired, planned
or attempted . It is also said that success is an event that accomplishes its intended
purpose . Anything short of that is failure.

Accordingly, the average cost overrun of a Project is 27%, while 57% of

projects fail due to “breakdown in communications.” Also, 39% of projects fail due to
lack of planning, resources, and activities. Simply saying that If you don’t plan, you
don’t succeed and lastly, 60% of failed projects have a duration of less than one
year.

The trend during the last decade includes the following:

1. Greater Reliance on Digital and Remote Teams

2.  A Closer Connection Between Projects and Strategy
3. Project Management and Change Management
4. The Emergence of Hybrid Project Management Approaches
5. An Emphasis on Soft Skills
6. The Impact of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis
1. Who is BTS Korean band?

- BTS is a seven-member Korean pop group who debuted in 2013 under Big Hit
Entertainment, which was at the time a small, underdog label that has since
become a Korean entertainment powerhouse. The group's Korean name, 방탄
소 년 단 , Bangtan Sonyeondan, translates into English as "Bulletproof Boy
Scouts," and was borne out of CEO Bang Si-Hyuk's desire to create a group
that could withstand social pressures and serve as a voice for the younger
generation. The group's first single, "No More Dream," is an aggressive, hip-
hop track that calls out young people without dreams of their own, challenging
societal academic expectations for Korean youth in the process.

2. Why are they No.1 in the world?

As a K-lover and part of the ARMY family, I believe that BTS became number
one in the world not only because of their music and performance but mainly because of their
members as a whole. With K-Pop growing in popularity, it is undeniable that BTS have
created a lot of beautiful music and amazing performances that greatly affect the popularity
and rise of K-Pop in the world. What makes BTS music unique is the message of their songs.
While most songs focus on love and relationship, this group decide to tackle more sensitive
yet important topics like bullying, mental health, youth, dreams and most importantly, self-
love. Also, with their slick and on point dance routines and impressive music videos, they
have attracted a loyal group of fans who deeply fell in love with their music.

But most importantly, the thing that made BTS so massive especially in the Internet is
because of their members. Yes, they are all good-looking and fine young men but what made
people fall in love more was how each members’ attitude and personalities blend so well that
it creates such amazing synergy within the group. Their goofiness, hard-working and humble
traits made them so enticing as a group. Lastly, BTS will not be number one without its
fandom. The loyalty and unity within the fandom is so solid that it helped BTS rise to where
they are right now. With ARMY’s power, BTS were able to achieve hundred millions of views
on their music videos and win great awards not only in South Korea but also in big music
shows like Billboard Music Award, AMA, VMA and the like.

3. What are the different project managements undertaken by BigHit Entertainment?

According to PD Bang Si-hyuk, CEO of BigHit Entertainment, “ The success
of BTS in the U.S. market was achieved by a formula different from the American
mainstream formula. Loyalty built through direct contact with fans had a lot to do with
that.” BigHit Entertainment focused more on creating good relationship with their
stakeholders by creating a loyal and committed fanbase for BTS.

“Also, it all comes with perfect timing”, said by PD Bang. During the launch of
BTS, K-Pop idol groups was the trend in the music industry. He said, “ At the time that
I started my company, physical album sales were abruptly going down and digital
sales were not coming up to compensate. But K-pop idol groups had an advantage, in
that they had many opportunities to diversify revenue streams and their fans were
extremely passionate, allowing concerts to compensate for the dropped album sales.
This was also a time when many around the world were saying the only replacement
for the demolished musical industry is live performances. If a performance-based
model were to be created in South Korea, I thought, it would [still have to] be a K-pop
idol group .”
