    : This log refers to STCW’78 (as amended), section A-VIII/I (fitness for duty) for officer/and-or/ ratings assigned as watch keeping team and also as per MLC requirement. Requirements are:-
    Minimum 10 hours of rest in any 24 hours period, at least one rest period is of minimum six hours duration.
    2. The rest hours need not to be maintained in the case of emergency, drill, or other overriding operational condition.
    3. The minimum rest hours (10 hours per 24 hours) may be reduced to 6 hours for consecutive two day provided 77 hours of rest is given in each seven days period.
    4. Maximum Working Hours allowed 14 hours a day & 72 Hours in 7 Days. This log to be kept updated by the person concerned. End of the month to be submitted to the Departmental head for verification and filing.
