Who are we?


The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in the Republic of the Union of
Myanmar is an independent, impartial and neutral humanitarian organization whose exclusive mission
is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. The ICRC
undertakes humanitarian activities in various regions of the country and promotes international
humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.
About the Job
The ICRC is looking for an Assistant to Management to be based in its Myitkyina Sub-Delegation. As a
senior staff member, engaging closely with the Head of Sub-Delegation and Deputy Head of Sub-
Delegation, the Assistant will play an important role in the sub-delegation in supporting communication
and engagement with government authorities, and management of field trip planning. S/he will also
support the management team in monitoring and taking appropriate measures linked to security,
managing feedback from communities, and facilitating the sharing of information with relevant teams and
ensuring timely feedback is provided.

Duties and Responsibilities
▪ Participate in and lead the administrative planning, notification process and follow-up of field trips.
▪ Support the field trip procedure, including through approvals of field trip forms, engagement with
field teams in preparations and participating in briefings and debriefings.
▪ Make security contacts with interlocutors, as appropriate, and as determined by internal
procedures.
▪ Support the Deputy Head of Sub-Delegation in coordination with other departments in the
implementation of security measures, including premises passive security with the administration
department.
▪ Ensure the quality and timely submission of the written documents to State authorities and
communicate them to the Management.
▪ Be responsible for monitoring and responding to the hotline for feedback from communities and
engaging with colleagues to ensure a timely response is given.
▪ Work closely with the Advisor to Head of Sub-Delegation – replacing her/him during his absences.
▪ Support the whole management team in networking activities.
About you
To be successful as the Assistant to Management, you should possess the following qualifications
and experiences and have the following characteristics:
▪ A university degree in a relevant discipline.
▪ At least 2 years’ work experience in a relevant field.
▪ Very good Myanmar writing and computer skills, and close attention to detail.
▪ Excellent communication skills, and fluency in written and spoken English.
▪ Knowledge of other local languages would be an asset.
▪ Confidence in coordinating internally and externally with various partners and counterparts.
▪ Very good team work and coordination skills.
▪ Previous ICRC or Red Cross Movement experience is also a strong asset.
We expect you to have the ability to work with different groups, partners and nationalities. You should
also be self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles. You should
be flexible, enthusiastic and have the willingness to learn from others. You should also be able to work
independently, as well as effectively under supervision. You should feel confident in managing projects
and coordinating with various partners and counterparts. You should the proven ability to organize and
prioritize multiple tasks and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines. You should be able to
exercise discretion and have the ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-
ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
The position will be based in Myitkyina with some travel to other ICRC offices in the country and to the
field as directed. You should be willing to relocate to Myitkyina.
