SECTION 9G

INTERIOR TRIM
CAUTION: Disconnect the negative battery cable before removing or installing any electrical unit or when a
tool or equipment could easily come in contact with exposed electrical terminals. Disconnecting this cable
will help prevent personal injury and damage to the vehicle. The ignition must also be in LOCK unless
otherwise noted.

FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL
Tools Required
KM-475-B Trim Remover
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Lower the front window.
3. Remove the door pull screw and the door pull.

4. Disconnect the power window control electrical con-


nector.
5. Pry off the inside door handle trim bezel.
6. Remove the screws securing the trim panel.
7. Using the trim remover KM-475-B, pry off the trim
panel.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the trim panel and secure it with the screws.

2. Install the inside door handle trim bezel.
3. Connect the power window control electrical connec-
tor.
4. Install the door pull with the screw.
Tighten
Tighten the door pull screw to 3.5 NSm (31 lb-in).
5. Raise the window.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.

REAR DOOR TRIM PANEL


Tools Required
KM-475-B Trim Remover
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Lower the rear window.
3. Remove the door pull screw and the door pull.

4. Disconnect the power window control electrical con-


nector.
5. Remove the manual window regulator handle, if
equipped. Refer to Section 9P, Doors.
6. Pry off the inside door handle trim bezel.
7. Remove the rear door interior garnish molding.
8. Remove the screws securing the trim panel.
9. Using the trim remover KM-475-B, pry off the trim
panel.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the trim panel and secure it with the screws.

2. Install the rear door interior garnish molding.


3. Install the inside door handle trim bezel.
4. Connect the power window control electrical connec-
tor.
5. Install the manual window regulator, if equipped. Re-
fer to Section 9P, Doors.
6. Install the door pull with the screw.
Tighten
Tighten the door pull screw to 3.5 NSm (31 lb-in).
7. Raise the window.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.

UPPER B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL


Removal Procedure
1. Remove the bolt and the upper B-pillar seat belt an-
chor.

2. Remove the lower B-pillar trim panel. Refer to “Lower
B-Pillar Trim Panel” in this section.
3. Pry off the upper B-pillar trim panel.

1. Install the upper B-pillar trim panel.

Pillar Trim Panel” in this section.
3. Install the upper B-pillar seat belt anchor with the bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the seat belt anchor bolt to 35 NSm (26 lb-ft).

LOWER B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL


Removal Procedure
1. Reposition the rear portion of the front rocker trim
panel and the front portion of the rear rocker trim pan-
el.
2. Pry off the lower B-pillar trim panel.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the lower B-pillar trim panel.
2. Install the rear portion of the front rocker trim panel
and the front portion of the rear rocker trim panel.

DECK LID SILL PLATE COVER

Tools Required
KM-475-B Trim Remover
Removal Procedure
1. Remove one C-pillar trim panel. Refer to “C-Pillar
Trim Panel” in this section.
2. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Section 9H,
Seats.
3. Remove child seat tether anchor bolts or plugs, if
equipped.
4. Using the trim remover KM-475-B, remove the plastic
retaining clips and the deck lid sill plate cover.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the rear deck lid sill plate cover with the plastic
retaining clips.
2. Install the child seat tether anchor bolts or plugs, if
equipped.
3. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Section 9H, Seats.
4. Install the C-pillar trim panel. Refer to “C-Pillar Trim
Panel” in this section.

GARNISH MOLDING
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the rear compartment security cover mount.
2. Remove the screws and the molding.

Notice: Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each
other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct
fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
1. Install the molding with the screws.
Tighten
Tighten the trim panel screws to 2 NSm (18 lb-in).
2. Install the rear compartment security cover mount.

TAILGATE UPPER GARNISH


MOLDING (WAGON)
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Open the tailgate.
3. Remove the center high-mounted stop lamp access
cover.
4. Remove the screws and the molding.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector.

1. Connect the electrical connector.

other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct
fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
2. Install the molding with the screws.
Tighten
Tighten the trim panel screws to 2 NSm (18 lb-in).
3. Install the center high-mounted stop lamp access
cover.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.

GARNISH MOLDING
Removal Procedure
1. Open the hatchback door.
2. Remove the screws and the lower garnish molding
clips using the trim remover KM-475-B.
3. Remove the lower garnish molding.

1. Install the lower garnish molding with the clips and the
screws.
Tighten
Tighten the trim panel screws to 2 NSm (18 lb-in).
2. Close the hatchback door.

1. Reposition the front portion of the front rocker panel.
2. Remove the kick panel screws.
3. Pry off the kick panel.

teners to prevent premature corrosion.
2. Install the kick panel screws.
Tighten
Tighten the kick panel screws to 2 NSm (18 lb-in).
3. Install the front portion of the front rocker panel to its
original position.

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the glove box. Refer to Section 9E, Instru-
mentation/Driver Information.
2. Remove the bolt and the floor console forward trim
panel.

3. Remove the right side kick panel. Refer to “Kick Pan-
el” in this section.
4. Remove the bolts from the footwell upper cover.

5. Using the trim remover KM-475-B, remove the plastic


retaining clips and the footwell upper cover.

1. Install the footwell upper cover with the plastic retain-
ing clips.

2. Install the bolts securing the footwell upper cover.

3. Install the right side kick panel. Refer to “Kick Panel”


in this section.
Notice: Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each oth-
er may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fas-
teners to prevent premature corrosion.
4. Install the floor console forward trim panel with the
bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the floor console forward trim panel bolt to
4 NSm (35 lb-in).
5. Install the glove box. Refer to Section 9E, Instrumen-
tation/Driver Information.

Removal Procedure
1. Pry off the front rocker trim panel.

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Section 9H,
Seats.
2. Remove the screw securing the rear rocker trim pan-
el.
3. Pry off the rear rocker trim panel.

1. Install the rear rocker trim panel.
2. Install the rear rocker trim panel with the screw.
Tighten
Tighten the trim panel screw to 2 NSm (18 lb-in).
3. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Section 9H,
Seats.

FLOOR CARPET
Tools Required
KM-475-B Trim Remover
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the left and the right rear rocker trim pan-
els. Refer to “Rear Rocker Trim Panel” in this sec-
tion.
3. Using the trim remover KM-475-B, remove the car-
pet retainer clips beneath the rear seat cushion.

4. Remove the bolts and the left and the right lower B-
pillar seat belt anchors.

5. Pry off the left and the right front rocker trim panels.
6. Remove the left and the right lower B-pillar trim pan-
els. Refer to “Lower B-Pillar Trim Panel” in this sec-
tion.
7. Remove the left and the right kick panels. Refer to
“Kick Panel” in this section.
8. Remove the front seats. Refer to Section 9H, Seats.
9. Remove the floor console. Refer to “Floor Console”
in this section.
10. Remove the floor carpet.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the floor carpet.
2. Install the floor console. Refer to “Floor Console” in
this section.
3. Install the front seats. Refer to Section 9H, Seats.
4. Install the left and the right kick panels. Refer to
“Kick Panel” in this section.
5. Install the left and the right lower B-pillar trim panels.
Refer to “Lower B-Pillar Trim Panel” in this section.
6. Install the left and the right front rocker trim panels.

7. Install the left and the right lower B-pillar seat belt
anchors to the B-pillar with the bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the seat belt anchor bolts to 35 NSm (26 lb-ft).

8. Install the carpet retainer clips beneath the rear seat


cushion.
9. Install the left and the right rear rocker trim panels.
Refer to “Rear Rocker Trim Panel” in this section.
10. Connect the negative battery cable.

FLOOR CONSOLE
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Open the floor console storage compartment and re-
move the bolts securing the rear portion of the floor
console.

3. Remove the bolts and the floor console forward trim


panels.
4. Remove the bolts securing the front portion of the
floor console.

5. Remove the shift lever boot (if equipped).


6. Disconnect the power mirror control electrical con-
nector, if equipped.
7. Remove the the floor console.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the floor console.
2. Connect the power mirror control electrical connector,
if equipped.
Notice: Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each oth-
er may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fas-
teners to prevent premature corrosion.
3. Install the bolts to secure the front portion of the floor
console.
Tighten
Tighten the floor console bolts to 4 NSm (35 lb-in).
4. Install the floor console forward trim panels with the
bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the floor console forward trim panel bolts to
B109G017 4 NSm (35 lb-in).

5. Install the gear shift lever boot (if equipped).

6. Install the bolts to secure the rear portion of the floor


console.
Tighten
Tighten the floor console bolts to 4 NSm (35 lb-in).
7. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten the seat belt anchor bolt to 35 NSm (26 lb-ft).
3. Install the plastic cap to its original position.

1. Install the C-pillar trim panel with the screws.
Tighten
Tighten the trim panel screws to 2 NSm (18 lb-in).
2. Install the rear speaker access cover.
3. Install the C-pillar seat belt anchor with the bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the seat belt anchor bolt to 35 NSm (26 lb-ft).
4. Install the plastic cap to its original position.

1. Open the tailgate.
2. Remove the D-pillar trim panel.

2. Remove the luggage compartment rear quarter trim
panel.
3. Using the trim remover KM-475-B, remove the plastic
retaining clips and the wheelhouse trim panel.

taining clips.
2. Install the luggage compartment rear quarter trim
panel.
3. Install the rear seatback. Refer to Section 9H, Seats.

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the C-pillar trim panel. Refer to “C-Pillar Trim

Panel” in this section.
3. Remove the screws, the clips, and the luggage
compartment wheelhouse trim panel.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector.

4. Install the C-pillar trim panel. Refer to “C-Pillar Trim
Panel” in this section.

1. Using the trim remover KM-475-B, remove the plastic
retaining clips and the rear quarter trim panel.

1. Using the trim remover KM-475-B, remove the plastic
retaining clips and the luggage compartment rear trim
panel.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION FLOOR CONSOLE

COVER
A rear compartment security cover is provided on the
hatchback and wagon. The rear compartment security
cover can be easily removed if more cargo space is
needed.
