Project HELIOS uses several theoretical frameworks and engineering principles:
1) Waste management theory to properly segregate tin cans and plastic bottles and reduce pollution.
2) The photovoltaic effect whereby solar panels generate electricity from sunlight hitting semiconductor materials to produce electron-hole pairs.
3) Automation principles to minimize human intervention in segregating wastes into bins.
4) The software development life cycle of planning, creating, testing, and deploying the product to optimize its capabilities.

Theoritical Framework
So Project HELIOS: Harnessing Energy through Light Involving Operation of
Scraps is made up of interconnected engineering principles and science concepts which are the Waste Management Theory, Electrical Engineering Principle of the Photovoltaic Effect to be specific, the Principle of Automation and the Software Development Life Cycle. Waste Management Theory as Applied by Project Helios Project Helios will use Waste Management Theory to lessen waste pollutants that can bring problems to us humans, and to our environment. We will develop a device that follows proper waste segregation that is limited to tin cans and plastic bottles only. Electrical Engineering Principle The Photovoltaic device or cell is composed of a p and an n type semiconductor forming a PN structure. When sunlight hit the cell, the photons in light excite some of the electrons in the semiconductors to become electron-hole (negative-positive) pairs. Now, the electrons move to the negative electrode while the holes move to the positive electrode. A conducting wire connects the negative electrode, the load, and the positive electrode in series to form a circuit. As a result, current is generated to supply the external load. That is how solar PV effect works. Principles of Automation AUTOMATION is defined as the application of technology to make a device, process, or a system operate automatically. Project HELIOS applies automation in the proper segregation since there will be minimal intervention in the process of separating wastes in their respective bins. Software Development Life Cycle SDLC defines the complete cycle of development and all the tasks involved in planning, creating, testing, and deploying a software product.10 In the planning stage, we will gather all data and information for the overall function of the research. The data includes the materials to be used and the beneficiary’s responses regarding their needs to charge their phones and the current waste management situation in Brgy. Malaya, Pililla, Rizal. Next. Analysis stage is where we will analyze the data we’ve gathered for us to know which ones will help and which ones will hinder the success of Project HELIOS. Now, the design stage where we will now create the prototype of Project HELIOS from the specifications created through the first two stages. In the implementation stage, we will create all software programming for project HELIOS using Arduino IDE and this include performance testing and aligning of output to our design specifications. The Testing and Integration stage is where we will deploy the prototype in its designated area in brgy. Malaya for the beneficiaries’ testing of usage. Here, we can evaluate the beneficiaries’ satisfaction of the device and also the defects that may arise. The last stage which is the maintenance stage, Here, we will hand the device over to the beneficiaries for their independent usage. If needed, we can make improvements to the software and that’s the goal of this finals stage, to make sure that Project HELIOS will operate at its optimal capabilities.
Procedure and Method of the Study
We, researchers, begin this study by researching ideas regarding renewable energy generation. Then we develop and proposed individual titles about energy generation and renewable energy from sound, wind with solar and temperature and none of the titles has been approved, we arrived at the idea of solar energy generation that can be triggered by recyclable scraps. And we have successfully defended it. We started gathering information and facts about the study in Barangay Malaya via online interview. Therefore, we decided to come up with a device which can be a solution in proper waste management with Solar Charging station. We called it Project HELIOS. Though the specifications we gathered from the recent steps, we will develop and assemble the prototype following step by step processes; first the solar panel must generate energy from the sun. The device will automatically operate if someone place some plastic bottles or metal cans in the device. The device will identify the scraps placed in the System’s Tube and segregate it. After identifying the scraps, he/she can charge his/her phone with respective time. The more scrap you put to the device the longer duration of your charging time. After the prototype is developed, it is now time for deployment and here we will gather feedbacks about the performance of the device, or even the problems it showed. Then we do maintenance as long as it is needed and that is the whole procedure and method of Project HELIOS.
