A Vocation for Everyone

Aireyca Glenn G. Lanaban

First day of November is a celebration for all the Saints. This is one of my reason
why I am so blessed to be a Roman Catholic. It’s good to know that there are saints
praying for us and who will be our companion and inspiration in following Jesus Christ.

All Saints day always reminds me that it’s not too late to go back to our Creator.
He welcomes those who wanted to change and follows His will. There’s a saying that
says, “Saints are sinners who keep trying to be good.” They weren’t perfect people.
They all had their struggles and doubts, their mistakes, sins, flaws and their
weaknesses, but they persevered in their faith and follow Him.

They are my inspiration in my everyday life because they have taught me that
sinfulness should not be an excuse to stop doing good deeds. They deepen my faith
and understanding about who is Jesus Christ. When I was a kid, I’ve always thought
that whenever I make mistakes, Jesus will punished me. He will give me sickness or
bad situations. That’s why I strive hard to do good things because of fear. As time
passed by, I have realized that Jesus wasn’t like that. He hates the sin but He loves the
sinner. He is not the God of punishment but He is my Father. A Father who willingly
accepts His children. A Father who plans all the best things for His children. The Saints
are my proof that we too can become Holy. That we too can also change. The way to
sainthood may be difficult but with God nothing is impossible. According to Pope
Francis, “To be Saints is not a privilege for the few, but a vocation for everyone.” We are
all called to holiness. This is a challenge for us to do good even when it is hard. To
offer our every actions to Jesus. To get inspiration and encouragement from the Saints
to continue in our struggle in order to overcome sins and attain final victory as children
of God.

Life may be full of temptation to do evil but because of the Saints we have the
courage to fight through their help and igniting our faith to Jesus. Let us not be afraid of
our failures and mistakes. We all have our own shortcoming and defects. If we truly rely
on God’s mercy and wisdom, He will use our flaws for His glory and transform us into an
extraordinary. Let us all strive hard so that we are worthy to be called as children of
God.
