THE WRITTEN TEST FOR THE POSITION OF SALES

EXECUTIVE

1. List 3 of your strengths and 3 of your weaknesses? Give us examples for each of them.

I would like to talk about my weaknesses first. One of my weaknesses is that sometimes I find
myself seem to be impatient in other’s eyes when I have to race to meet deadlines. I will tend to push
everything move as quickly as possible as I don’t like to miss deadlines, or miss commitment with
someone. If I work with a team for that task/project, I will push other team members so that we can
complete the task at the required time.

Another weakness of mine is that I am introvert person, before I worked as a sales staff, I was
often so afraid of talking to or meeting new people, I would tend to avoid communication or
conversation with other people surrounding, but since I put my feet into sales job, I’ve changed myself
quite a lot, now I am keen on introducing and sharing things, products or services to other people, and I
realize that I am kind of person who like taking challenges and risks and closing deals.

I’m also very low tech when it comes about ability to use variety of apps, such as Photoshop
or other image design tools, which I recognize that young people of 9x,10x generations is super smart at
nowadays. And I think this is also one of my weaknesses.

Talking about my strengths, I find myself an ambitious person, and a target-oriented one.
Ambition is necessary thing for anyone to success in work life, personal or academic life. That’s why I
want to be a sales staff, so that I can work with targets, and numbers.

Because I am a target – oriented person so I set a clear boundary between my work life and
my personal life. When at work, I will put 100% of my concentration on work, company and customers.
I am able to work both independently and with other team members efficiently.

And my adaptability is also one of my strength, I think. I’m aware that each company has its
own distinct culture, characteristics and regulations that I should learn, respect, and adapt myself, to and
enjoy as well if I am a apart of that company. Whenever I changed jobs, I found myself quickly be able
to get along well with new working environment and colleagues.

2. Tell us about countries that you like/love? Why? If you are assigned to take
responsibilities for one of the countries listed out as follows:
- Singapore
- Thailand
- Australia
- Japan
- Vietnam
Which country do you prefer to take?

I haven’t had a chance to travel aboard a lot but I am always curious about other countries and
cultures and I like each of them in very different ways such as stunning landscape, cultures, people, or
dynamic growth…etc. I like those countries like Japan, USA, Singapore, Korea, Australia and many
others, one of the reason is that they are not only famous tourism places that I dream of visiting one day,
but also these are potential markets with high demand for software development that we can exploit.

If I’m assigned to take charge of one of the listed countries, I would say Australia, because I
just like and am curious about this far-away country, and hopefully one day I can have a chance to visit
this country.

3. We have 2 sales channels:

- Firstly, you will research and actively find customers then reach them directly to
present your company profile and sell your services/ products.
- Secondly, you sell through partners. That means you find partners then develop
the relationship and generate leads from partners.
Which sales channel do you prefer to work with? And Why? ( Suggest: Let's match this
to your strengths, your mindset, and current skillsets).

I think these two channels of generating leads are both very effective and it’s hard to say
which one is better than the other.

I guess that most companies take use of both ways, if I have to choose, I would say the first
one. I like the idea of reaching out in the market to research for new prospects and actively access these
potential customers, introduce about yourself, your company and the products and services, understand
customer’s problems or demands and then persuade them that your products/ services are the best
solutions to their problems or help to satisfy their demands.

Because I assume that there’re lots of potential customers out there with problems to be solved
and with demands to be served, so it’s good if we can reach out potential customers at the right time
with appropriate products or services and with competitive prices/advantages.

4. This position requires you to create and take the network with Manager Level/ C-Level
up.
What are the important things in working/ maintaining relationships with these levels?

I guess manager level or C-level are super busy, what they may care about are time, results,
commitments...and so to be able to work well with them, I think working effectively, professionally
trustworthily are among those important things.

5. By using less than 75 words for each term, please explain to a 7-year-old kid:

- What is the hard drive: Let’s look at this box or drawer, you can put stuff such as toys,
books, balls ..into it and it will get full if you put lots of stuff into. Hard drive is similar to the box in the
way that you can put music, sound, text, images into it, and of course it has limited space like the box, it
will get full if you keep putting things into.
- What is the database: Do you know what is your mother’s name, what is her job?, how old
is she?, what color is her hair, how tall is she and what sport does she like, does she cook well…etc. So
all the information about your mom such as her name, age, job, hair color, favorite sport….that you
know about her is the database of your mom, so basically database is a set of collected information
about a particular person, thing, or place…

6. What will you do if you have:

- 1 billion VND
- 10 billion VND

If I had 1 or 10 billion I would set aside an amount for savings, I would travel to the places I
like with my beloved ones, I would also spend some for investment in a small business and some for
improving myself with knowledge and skills as I realize that the world we’re living in today is changing
constantly and so quickly, therefore learning new skills and updating with knowledge is necessary thing.

And I would give a donation to charity organization or set aside some for supporting and
helping difficulty people in community.

7. Tell us about:
- One time you had the deadline and did not match this deadline: I remember the time when I missed
the deadline. That was the time when I just finished

I remember one time when I and my sales team had to race to meet the deadline. At that time,
we had very big customer, they had a plan to open a new factory in Hung Yen Province so they invited
quite a bunch of IT equipment and solution providers to quote for the package. The package was of high
value and my boss really wanted us to win the deal, so after weeks of preparing technical proposal and
quotation, we were almost ready to submit the quotation to the customer. But we still hold the quotation
submission until the deadline to ensure that we had already checked through the quotation very carefully
and that there were no mistakes in that quotation.

But at the last hour before the deadline, my team and I just realized that our quoted price may
be higher than our competitors and that it would raise the chance of winning the deal if we lower the
price a little bit. So we started adjusting the quotation and ask for approval from manager. I was so
stressed and so afraid that we would miss the deadline but luckily with all efforts, we finally submitted
it on time.

- One time you have to deal with a difficult customer/ or a person. What was the
outcome?

One of my difficult customers is Sumitomo Heavy, NTTcom and NTTdata partnered with
each other to provide the warehousing software to the customer. I had lots of difficulties in negotiating
the contract terms and conditions after our companies being chosen as vendor to provide the
warehousing software. The standard service package says we would provide 6 times of onsite support to
customer, and the fee already included in the service package and any other arising onsite support
time(s) will be charged separately but the customer didn’t agree, they wanted 8 times of onsite support
to be included, not 6 times.
At the beginning, the customer insisted on having their request satisfied, so I arranged a face
to face meeting with customer, along with my boss. We explained to the customer in details about our
support services and assure them we guarantee the software run smoothly after deployment, and that we
would provide customer with 24/7 online support, any issues with software would be handled promptly
by our talented & skilled engineers. The customer saw our honesty and commitment, they were happy
and signed the contract right at the meeting.

8. What do you think about work-life balance? How do you feel if you are required to work
overtime frequently?

I think work – life balance is good and necessary for our overall well-being.

I am a responsible person, I will have responsibility for the tasks I take charge of, so if
working overtime is necessary to complete urgent tasks and join a meeting with customer late, I would
not mind doing it.

9. Why do you choose sales to develop your career path? What do you want to achieve in
sales?

The reason I chose sales as my career is that firstly it give me better income than the other job
I had taken before and it also gives me more chances to improve my skills and knowledge, meet or
communicate with new people and learn things from them.

I also like figures and targets things.

I just want to be a good sales staff, becoming a part of super sales team, who contribute great
values to company and customers.
