BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, learner needs a basic understanding and skills in computer

to accomplish certain task successfully. As a learner you are expected to
familiarize the different hardware and software according to task designed and
evaluate the main issues in managing the hardware and software technology.

Computer education plays a vital role in the academic success of the

students. Therefore, it is important for the students to understand the different
components of a computer system. These components are hardware, software and
peopleware/ liveware. Each component plays an essential part and will not function properly
without each other.

A Computer System is more than just a Computer. It is a combination

of “components working together to perform a specific task”.

A. Hardware is the physical, touchable, electronic, and mechanical components of a

computer system.

 Main hardware components of a computer system

1. System Unit- is the part of the computer that houses
the primary devices that perform operations and
produce result for complex computations. It consists of
the following internal components; Motherboard,
Microprocessor, Memory Chips, Buses, Ports,
Expansion Slots, and Cards.

While the system case is known as computer chassis.
