Biosketch
Emely D. Dicolen is an Associate Professor of the National Teacher Training Center for the
Health Professions (NTTCHP), University of the Philippines Manila (UPM); concurrent
Program Chair, Diploma/Master of Social Work and Diploma in Women and Development, UP
Open University (UPOU); Affiliate Professor, College of Public Affairs and Development
(CPAf), UP Los Banos (UPLB).
She was a former Dean of the Graduate School and School of Education, Arts and Sciences
(SEAS) of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba (Letran-Calamba). She is also the former
President of the Association of Filipino Educators in Korea (AFEK) and one of the Founding
Board Members of the Global Saemaul Development Network (GSDN).
She finished her post-doctoral studies at the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS),;
Doctor of Philosophy in Development Education at the University of Santo Tomas; Master of
Arts in Theological Studies at the Ateneo de Manila University; and Bachelor of Science in
Education, major in Religious Education at the College of the Holy Spirit Manila.
Dr. Dicolen was conferred the following distinguished awards: Regional Awardee (Region IV-
A) and a National Nominee to the Model Overseas Filipino Family Award (MOFYA)

Spirit, Manila and
2010 Outstanding Filipino Overseas, Banaag Category, by the Commission on Filipinos
Overseas (CFO)
She is an educator, manager and administrator, international public speaker, researcher, book
author who have published/self-published inspirational books, counselor, life coach, pastoral
worker, and a volunteer. As an Appreciative Inquiry champion, she lives the AI principles and
integrates them in her parenting, teaching, researching, coaching, mentoring, and facilitating
seminars and workshops.
