I. INTRODUCTORY CONCEPT
In the last Learning Activity you have designed your Organization Structure and was able to
apply what Organizational Theory you are going to apply, whether it be based on classical or
traditional theory wherein there is a fixed structure, contingent theory wherein the
organization is dependent on the variables, or behavioural theory which depends on the
behaviours of persons/groups.

In this activity, we will have the discussion on the nature and concept of Staffing and drafting
on filling in of persons / positions in your Organization.

III. ACTIVITIES
Staffing is the process of hiring eligible candidates in the organization or company for
specific positions. In management, the meaning of staffing is an operation of recruiting
the employees by evaluating their skills, knowledge and then offering them specific job
roles accordingly.

Staffing is considered to be the most important managerial function along with organizing,
leading, controlling and planning. Because the operation of these four functions depends
on the manpower through staffing function. Staffing is a pervasive act as it carries out
by managers in all types of concerns.

Staffing is a continuous activity for as long as the organization is existing because the
movement of employees due to promotion and transfer takes place continuously.
Staffing is putting the right people at the right job, it is the Human Resources manager’s
job to look for people, select, train, develop, provide remuneration, etc.
