§ Raw water from a storage tank placed on a pedestal or from an overhead tank
which is fed from a bore-well is connected to the raw water Feed Pump.
§ Water is then pressurized and passed through a 50 micron mesh and further
through a pressurized sand filter which contains activated carbon to remove the
sediments and odour.
§ Water is then passed through a 5 micron cartridge filter where suspended
impurities above 5 microns are removed. The cartridge filters need to be replaced
once in a month depending upon the level of suspended solids in the inlet water.
§ This water is then led into a high pressure pump(Triplex plunger pump) where the
requisite pressure is developed and then led into the Sea water membranes
where the feed water is split into 2 streams, one the purified water stream with
TDS and contaminants within the approved limits.
§ This permeate water is led into a storage tank for distribution through Ultra Violet
Lamp (UV) to the habitants.
§ The second stream is the reject water which is not suitable for drinking and
drained.

Touching Lives
Safe drinking water is needed by a majority of rural and urban communities in India. The lack of
basic necessity snatched many an infant lives and deprived a large population of India of good
health.
Water sources in India are primarily of two types - Subsoil water (Wells etc.), Top soil water
(rivers, ponds, sea etc.). Both these sources have highly dissolved impurities like arsenic, fluoride, Note: TPCDT - Tata Projects Community Development Trust
excess salts and various biological contaminants (bacteria, viruses, pollutants & industrial
wastes). Tata Projects has embarked upon an ambitious plan of creating a sustainable source of safe and
With an objective of providing safe drinking water to communities, Tata Projects introduced healthy drinking water to people across all communities in India. Networking with Corporate,

Reverse Osmosis
Reverse Osmosis is the best filtration available today. The RO membrane acts as barrier to all
dissolved salts and inorganic molecules as well as organic molecules within certain a molecular
weight ranges. Water molecules, on the other hand, pass freely through the membrane creating
a purified product stream.
Rejection of dissolved salts is typically 95%. The applications for RO are numerous and varied.
These include purifying subsoil/topsoil water for drinking purposes.
In addition to RO filters our product range uses Ultraviolet filters to eliminate biological
contaminants and provide clean drinking water.
