Possessive Pronouns

ARMANDO DE LA VARA FLORES MI 5-1

Definition:
It is important to understand the use of the possessive adjective, to then understand the use
of possessive pronouns.
We use 1possessive adjectives before a noun. See the examples:
⮚ Is that your car?
Your is the possessive adjective, and car is the singular noun.
⮚ Are these his keys?
His is the possessive adjective, and keys the plural noun.
⮚ Is that her boyfriend?
Her is the possessive adjective, and boyfriend is the singular
noun.
2
But we use POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS as a substitute of
the noun. See the examples:
⮚ Is that your car? No, it is not mine. Mine is red.
⮚ Are these Tom’s keys? Yes, I think they are his.
⮚ Is that her new boyfriend? No, I don’t think so. Hers is a much taller guy.
⮚ Is that our house over there? Yes, it is ours. It looks so pretty from far away.
