I. Activity Title: Solving Routine and Non-routine problems involving division 3-to 2-
digit numbers including money using appropriate problem solving
strategies and tools
II. MELC : solves routine and non-routine problems involving division of 3-to-4
digit numbers by 1-to-2 digit numbers including money using
appropriate problem solving strategies and tools ( Code: M4NS-lh-56.3)
III. In this activity you will learn to:
a. analyze the problem and tell what is asked, what are given, the word clue/s,
the operation/s to be used in solving the problem and transform the problem
into number sentence;
b. interpret data presented in routine and non-routine problems involving
division of 3-to-4 digit numbers by 1-to-2 digit numbers including money;
c. display open-mindedness to the ideas of others
IV. Introduction:
To solve non-routine problems involving division, read and analyze the problem
carefully. Tell what is asked and what are given. Then, use other strategies like act out
the problem, listing/table method, guest and test, drawing/making a diagram, using
patterns, working backwards, etc. to solve.

V. Discussion and Examples:


A total of 45 pupils in Danao City joined the tree- planting program. If there
were 5 barangays joined, how many pupils in each barangay joined the tree planting
program?

Answer: 45 ÷ 5 = 9 so; 9 pupils each barangay

C. Solve- Write the correct answer/units and label your answer.

To solve non-routine problems involving division, read and analyze the problem
carefully. Tell what is asked and what are given. Then, use other strategies like act out
the problem, listing/table method, guest and test, drawing/making a diagram, using
patterns, working backwards, etc. to solve.
