Lesson #: 1 Focus: Invasion Games (Team sports)

Line run: to get used to the stick! Hockey nets, hockey
Ready Position: Teaching how to run with weak hand sticks, cones, pylons,
(5mins) bins to create goal
Drill #1 Stick Handling (20 mins) keepers, long
Holding the stick benches, 10 balls
Stationary Drill>stationary using lines or cones, toe drag, flick over, wider handles min
Moving Drill> arounds the 3-point line on each side, through cones (just ball, then
ball and body)
Gamify: Relay race through the cones

Drill 2# Receiving & Passing (20)


4 types of passes are: forehand, backhand, lob pass, saucer pass)
Partnered drills
Passing with different variations (floor pass, sauce pace, back hand)
Back and forth through cones with partner
Four squares! Passes out have to be within, passes out have to be “without”
Gamify: Relay with partners cones or four squares

Outdoor Walk (10-10:30)

Drill #3: Shooting (15)


Shooting skill (slap vs wrist)
J drill and hitting net progress to a target
Passing sequence then shoot (one line at right baseline, one like at top of 3-point
line)
Dribble through cones then shoot
Pass off the bench and then shoot!
Targeting with bottoms and top corners
Gamify: Relay race with cones and 3-point line slap shots best of 5 shots

Outdoor Walk (10-10:30)

Drill #4 Possession/Movement: (15)


Moving in 3s to other side of gym and shoot
Weaving and shoot
3 v 1 defense starts from half like Burojin
Time: 9:15-12:20
Gameplay (20)
2 v 1 Half court
2v2 half court

Possession of the puck (15) (switching sides on cue, 5 passes is a point)

Net down (shinny) (15)


2-3 passes before you can score (20)
Ball Hockey Game (free of modifications) (20)

After: Consolidation & Connection (Helping students demonstrate what they have Materials
learned, providing opportunities for consolidation and reflection)

Store Equipment Away for cleaning
