Salam sejahtera and Salam 1Malaysia,
First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the Board of Executive Committee members of MSAJ
Kanto 2010, the Advisors of MSAJ and the members of MSAJ for making term 2010 an excellent year for
MSAJ.
2010 was a busy year and the Board had worked hard to improve and develop MSAJ as an association
representing Malaysian students in Japan. This newsletter is compiling what we had done in 2010 and
hopefully it will be reference for the future development of MSAJ, not only in Kanto but also all around
Japan.
2010 was also the year to implement the changes that were agreed from previously, mainly (1) MSAJ Kanto
worked as one Division and not the Central (Pusat). And also (2) the Bureau systems were put into action,
allowing members to participate according to their interest.
However, there are still lots to work on the changes and development of MSAJ, to make MSAJ a better
student association for students. These developments will not come through without the cooperation from all
parties involved in MSAJ; the Advisors, the Board of Executive Committee, the members etc.
Finally, I would like to congratulate the new elected board and wishes them all the best. Also, I would like to
urge members and students to participate actively in the development of MSAJ and the contribution to
members and society.

MSAJ in a Glance

Malaysian Students’ Association in Japan (MSAJ) was established in 1976, with the main objectives
of uniting Malaysian students in Japan and taking care the welfare of its members. This association is opened
to all Malaysian students who are studying or taking courses for more than six months.
As the number of Malaysian students has increased from time to time, the association has also grown bigger,
and at present, there‟re 5 Divisions: Kanto, Kansai, Tohoku, Hokuriku and KYUMA.
Note: Kanto Division covers 12 Prefectures: Tokyo, Chiba, Saitama, Kanagawa, Gunma, Tochigi, Ibaraki,
Yamanashi, Shizuoka, Gifu, Aichi, Mie.

Year 2009 and before
MSAJ Kanto worked as the Central (Pusat), which mainly controlled the Registration and Funds of MSAJ.
The main reasons were (1) MSAJ started from Tokyo, which is near to the Embassy of Malaysia and (2) Most
Malaysian students focused in Tokyo and Kanto area.

Administration and execution
Previously, the activities and programs were administered and executed only by the EXCOs of MSAJ (Model 1).
However, with this model, ALL the events (average 6 to 7 annually) and administration of MSAJ were ONLY the
responsibilities of EXCOs, which caused burden to EXCO members, who are also students.
In 2010, some of the events/programs (eg MSAJ Career Fair) were administered by a special committee, consisted
by EXCO of MSAJ and members who volunteered (Model 2)
Also, some of the activities/programs were given responsibilities to the Bureau (Model 3), for example Hanami.
This will help EXCOs to improve leadership and management skills. It will be ideal to have more participation
from members in each Bureau and be involved not only in the activities but also the administration and the
development of MSAJ (Development of MSAJ through Development of Bureaus).
Other models are hoped to be developed, to fill the needs of managing MSAJ as an effective organization while
improving soft skills (leadership, management etc) among students.

Registration of students
1. Registration of students under program Ambangn Asuhan Jepun (AAJ) and Institut Bahasa
Teikyo (IBT) sponsored by Jabatan Perkidmatan Awam (JPA) is done with the collaboration with
Kelab UMNO Jepun (KUJ). The students are divided into two groups. The information of

Photography workshop 1630-1730: Critics and Comments

Lunar New Year Celebration Orientation

MSAJ organized the Lunar New Year Celebration at
