Fatigue Test
Fatigue Test
Fatigue Test
2- Introduction
The definition of fatigue test is that the cycle of incremental localized irreversible
structural change occurring in a material subjected to conditions that cause
fluctuating stresses and strains at some stage and that may develop in cracks or full
fractures after some fluctuations. By fatigue test we can find many properties of
the material such as fatigue life, fatigue strength, and fatigue limit. Also, it’s
important to do the fatigue examination so we can find how long the material will
endure the stress. Consequently, we can determine specific materials for the
specific projects and such us bridges, airplanes and different buildings and
situations.
3- Experimental Procedure
- We measure the all dimensions of the specimen
- Fit the sample between the grips
- Adjust a constant load needed
- Put the cover and fix the cycle number to zero
- Start the machine and wait until the fracture

5- Conclusion
In Conclusion, by using Fatigue test we were able to find properties for both Brass
and steel alloys. We calculated Fatigue life, Fatigue strength and limit. Also, we
found the factor of life for steel alloy. we computed the constants A and B for
Brass alloy. However, for Steel it’s not applicable to find the both constants.
Finally, this test show us how important the fatigue test to know various materials
for different usage in variety of applications in our life
